This was a big reason why ME2 was so story-lite...too much emphasis on party members and not enough on the overall story arch

The ONLY way I'm in favor of a Kaidan/Ashley DLC is if Bioware can somehow tie them into the Reapers and ME3. Many supporters of A&K DLC want the DLC's story to tie in with the rest of the game. It makes sense from a story perspective. BioWare wants to produce bridging DLC. Bridging DLC should start tying up loose story ends in the ME universe. Ashley and Kaidan work for the Alliance, and Alliance/Cerberus issues are an important ME subplot. The Alliance is interested in Cerberus, Cerberus is interested in the Reapers. It works!
Therefore, we want Ashley and Kaidan to be in those DLCs.
But many of us also want to see these characters back in action. Ashley and Kaidan only have one small bit part in ME2. Fans of both can only pick one in ME1. We want character development for them as well. Surely BioWare can weave story exposition and character development together, like they've done excellently in the past. And we want a larger role for them; we want to see them shine. Supporters are willing to buy DLC for that reason. We understand that the world doesn't revolve around them within the ME universe, but if we can have 12 loyalty missions, Liara's DLC, and quests that focus on infiltrating Cerberus cells, one DLC featuring Kaidan and Ashley as a higher focus isn't too much to ask.
And, I personally felt that ME2 was very story-heavy. Without this getting into a, "what ME game is better," I'll use an analogy by sagequeen: ME1 is like a structured novel. ME2 is more like a collection of short stories with a common theme. They're structured differently, but they're both good. <3

ha, i was about to mention that analogy again. to put in my 2 cents worth in on this, i agree: a further short story before the ME3 saga (which i assume will play more like a novel again, because it's got to have a HUGE end game arc) would be welcome. i would like to see such a short story feature the VS. but i agree i needs to have a Reaper tie-in and that could easily be how the Alliance is or is not going to help Shepard with the Reaper threat and what ash/kaidan will decide in response. i agree a reaper tie-in is needed, but i also think a further VS short-story would be very welcome at this point.
the short story that was horizon was excrutiating for us VS fans. some of us liked it, some hated it, some simply endured it, but none of us want it to be the final say.

Fortunately Shepard and VS spent the whole first game hunting aafter Saren to stop the reapers, so its not like they'd be out of place if they made a plot involving that, whereas it wouldn't make sense for any other squadmates except:
Liara
Tali
Garrus (although he isn't mandatory to recruit, although me2 save importer forgot about that)
Wrex (but he's busy either reuniting the clans, or being earthworm food)
None of the ME2 squadmmates in particular would make sense, since they all can die.
Ands hopefully the mission would have twice as much character depth than any of the loyalty missions (after all, loyalty mission is 30 minutes tops, DLC is 2 or more hours)

To tie this DLC into the main game, i think it would be interesting if you could return to a planet we were on in mass effect 1 (Noveria, Feros, or even a toasty virmire) to gather more information on the reapers. I just think this would add to the emotional value of this. and lest face it...these characters defintly make us emotionally (or at least me)
Oh and it would be great if these characters could be temporarily playable. maybe for their powers we could Ashlley immunity (or whatever its called) and perhaps give Kaidan something similar to sabetauge.

I'm sure there's gonna be a DLC w/ the Virmire survivor due to how little they were in the game.

maybe kaidan and ash were secretly gathering intel on the reapers. that's why they were off the grid. it would be an interesting concept to interlace their covert mission with the main plot.tmacairjordan87 wrote...

I concur. Ash and Kaid are working closely with Anderson, or at least close enough that he knows their whereabouts. Anderson seems worried about the Reapers. If they can't get outside support, then Anderson might've made Kaidan investigate odd activities that are possibly Reaper influenced.siriusrambles wrote...

And since Cerberus is interested in the Reapers, the two groups might want to work together, and thus send their top agents together.
Or, they could totally be working against each other and competing for the same data.
Or both groups know nothing of the other's activities and the Ashley and Kaidan happen to run into Shepard in danger, saving him/her in the process.
Just...letting my imagination go.

Now this sounds like something I'd love to see! Maybe they could tie in some flashback scenes like they did with the Normandy Crash Site DLC.

I would so get behind a return to Virmire! I think that could be awesome! Just picture this...
"Reunite with a Survivor from one of Commander Shepard's most desperate battles, and return to where one of the hardest decisions of the new Spectre's life was made; Virmire, where among the ruins something has begun to stir..."
Maybe that could be the name of the Ash/Kaidan DLC, "Return To Virmire"! Of course, that would doubtless remind people of the pointless farce that was Return To Ostagar, so this would have to be good, but i think that already goes without saying.

I want a VS DLC if only to get back the old Ash/Kaidan. I felt like their scene with Shepard was a total cop-out and that whoever scripted it didn't understand them at all and just made it easier for them to get on with the story they wanted to tell.
The scene on Horizon was so bad that it bordered on character assassination. It looks like the Liara DLC might repair some of the damage ME2 and Redemption did to her characters. Hopefully, there is a similar DLC in the pipeline for Ashley and Kaidan.

Agreed.
Having to kill a character you already killed again?! No, no.
What if Shepard and Ashley or Kaidan teamed up to see any activities that were going on, but also want to put a monument to the person who died? Maybe Shepard can cry over the decision, and she could be comforted by Ashley or Kaidan.

Yeah, I would like to see the *option* for Shepard to actually show some emotion in a VS DLC. Not that he/she has to (since some folks would probably hate that), but for those of us who liked that around the ME1 squaddies Shep had moments of humanity and weakness, that would be nice.
