"The Normandy swoops in and the squadmate you didn’t send with Kirrahe earlier walks down the ramp with the salarian drive core that has been converted into a nuclear bomb."
A nuclear bomb...... not a "quasi nuclear bomb".
Virmire would be a nuclear wasteland surely..... admittedly this follows the trope that most fans believe Endor would still be a lush forrest moon after a moon sized battles station in geo syncrous orbit is detonated ((mass extinction scenerio for the poor little ewoks when that debris lands))...but back on topic.
If its another area on the planet .... far from where the original battle took place... fine... but if you want to return to the scene post nuclear.....that includes radiation and such. It would be nice to see what "other consequence" there was to detonating a nuke on a teaming eco system....

Must be post Horizon in mission progress.
We start with an e-mail from Admiral Hackett, asking you to meet up with Anderson on the presidium for a matter of utmost urgency.
You arrive to find Anderson and Hackett in person. He closes the shutters on the embassy windows, dims the lights and pulls up a vid screen showing what Shepard recognizes as Elysium.
(If Jacob or Miranda are present, Anderson questions proceeding while Cerberus is present, which you can paragon, renegade or neutral convince him to proceed)
Mission briefing from Hackett is as follows.
Alliance intel had recieved several tips of an attempted terrorist attack somewhere on Elysium. The biggest lead pointed to a Batarian extremist (If Bring Down the Sky was completed paragon, Shepard recognizes the terrorist dossier shown on screen as Balak, if completed Renegade Hackett revisits your actions and informs you this is his brother Gorel, if it wasn't completed Hackett informs you it is the terrorist responsible for the devastating attack on Terra Nova 2 years ago named Balak)
In response, Alliance command sent out a black ops team headed by Ashely/Kaidan to pull survelance to pinpoint an attack location, and possible counter attack. 9 hours ago, their team dropped out of communication.
6 hours ago the attack on the Takanomi Plaza began. 5 nearby buildings were brought down with ordinance, causing confusion while the ground level of the Plaza was secured by what appears to be a platoon strength squad of Batarian terrorists, augmented by an unknown number of security mechs. Local authorities have lost too many men in failed entry attempts, and have called in Alliance military aid.
To make matters worse, 3 shuttlecraft have landed on the rooftops before air support could ID them, possibly bringing reinforcements and providing an escape route.
Finally, 3 hours ago, we recieved this transmission.
Vid screen shows Ashley/Kaidan, in a maintennance shaft, whispering.
"I don't have much time before they pick up my coms. The situation is delicate. Balak/Gorel has enough ordinance to turn half the planet to glass." Camera shifts to look through a vent at a few Batarians gathering around half a dozen nuclear devices, then back to Ashley/Kaidan. "Reason to believe they will detonate if they encounter strong resistance. A small strike team would have the best chance. Out of time-" the transmission ends.
Hackett continues.
You're the only one we can trust to handle this Shepard. The plan is to bypass their heaviest defenses, entering through the 10th floor parking garage, while a strike team diverts their attention on the ground level. Find the nukes, disable them, and stop Balak/Gorel.
Cut to the streets of Elysium's capital, outside the Plaza. A squad of Alliance Soldiers sets up barricades and digs in. A single shot rings out and the streets erupt with gunfire from both directions. A small taxi shuttle flys over and towards the docking terminal of the building. A few rounds rattle the ship, but it skids to a halt inside the building and we enter the first level of the DLC, Takanomi Plaza parking garage.
Balak (dropping Gorel to save space) ~ Send mechs to check out that crashed shuttle on floor 10, NOW! Might be military pulling a fast one.
First section is pretty straightforward. Weave through the parking garage while fighting wave after wave of the three common mechs, heading towards the elevator while Hackett feeds you intel about where the nukes are detected. As you reach the elevator, a new flying heavy Mech activates and starts the first boss fight of the DLC.
As they arrive on the floor with the nukes the level branches out into two distinct paths, you send one squadmemeber to investigate the left, while you take the right (Setting up for Ash/Kai recruitment)
On this level the gameplay switches to a pseudo MGS type game, where stealth is key. Enemies take triple damage from headshots here, so a single shot with a pistol will do the trick in most cases. If spotted, you'll have 8 seconds to clear the room before Balak/Gorel is alerted to the threat and the nukes detonate for GAME OVER. After clearing the first room, Ash/Kai interrupts you, dropping down from the ceiling access panel.
Reunion, romance and apologies for being an ass back on Horizon, then back on to the mission.
About 5 or 6 rooms in and you come across Balak and the nukes, shouting over the coms for his teams to report. Dialog scene varies depending on if Bring Down the Sky was done in ME1, then the firefight ensues with Balak/Gorel escaping while you must disarm the nukes. After that, you give chase, while mechs and terrorists attempt to stop you.
The squadmate you sent left radios in and reports Balak is taking the elevator to the roof, but can't get to him.
When you reach the roof via elevator, you see one shuttle taking off, while Balak's second in command attaches bombs to one of the remaining two. He detonates them, saying there's no way you're following, and starts the second boss fight. This guy is basically an Infiltrator, and will utilize stealth attacks throughout the fight.
After killing him, commandeer the remaining shuttle to pursue Balak. Both shuttles get off world and dock with a Batarian cruiser. The final level has you infiltrating and taking down the terrorist crew of the vessel, ending with Balak's final confrontation.
Suffering a severe wound in the fight, Kaidan/Ashley suggests they regroup with Alliance command for debrief/medical attention.
Hackett has you dock with the Arcturus station. Ash/Kai leaves the group, but loyal romance characters have a shot at a love scene in his/her room aboard the station before leaving. Arcturus station becomes a hub similar to LotSB's, and Hackett closes the mission stating that once this business with Cerberus is over, he's willing to pull whatever strings he has to and see that Shepard's reinstatement to the Alliance can get approved, to which Shepard can respond positively or negatively towards.
End.
Footnote: Any similarities between this proposed mission and Die Hard are purely intentional.
Also, PLEASE don't quote this entire post if you respond, for length's sake.

ME1 SPOILERS AHEAD
Virmire: leave squadmate behind. And kill/save Wrex. HUGE turning point in the story.
Noveria: meet Benezia. Meet ancient enemy. Decide its fate.
Therum: recruit Liara, the last squadmate.
Ilos: discover what the Conduit is, and the lamentable fate of the Protheans (running around on Ilos always makes me kind of sad...)
and on Feros: kill a plant...
You know what? I say going to Ilos again in a DLC would be really cool. Maybe Kaidan and Ashley could help Shepard reaffirm the Reaper threat to the council by going back to old worlds they visited.
Hm.....maybe not.
But Virmire and Jump Zero...yeah, that'd be cool.

What happened to the Mass Effect Relay on Ilos... did it shut down forever?
Is there no chance in hell of reactivating it?
Did the geth forget all about it?
I know the council said vigil stopped working, so is there a gaurding force present to gaurd the relay from geth in the future?

I don't think there's anyone guarding it though, it's pretty deep in the Terminus systems, after all. I imagine the Council sent a Spectre or maybe a STG team to investigate Vigil.

This is probably true. Too bad my Xenophobe renegade shot her.

True! I keep forgetting about the huge indoctrination aspect of the ME story, but it's mentioned in both the books and games.

Seriously. I loved everything about Ilos. The color palette, the atmosphere, the architecture, the music (one of the best tracks period), the level design, and the sheer emotions of the level blew me away. I would absolutely be in favor of returning to Ilos at some point (and what better time that with a VS DLC?)

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Ilos holds so much meaning for Shepard and Kaidan/Ashley, as well as the story.

Can't really add much more ideas to what allready posted. Full support from me, hope BW will make this DLC
Ps: One idea maybe: make it less linear then LotSB. Let us make decisions, not major (guess that would be hard to implement into ME3 considering those who don't/can't play DLCs or not yet started playing ME) but some minor, which is add that "extra" feeling that makes you feel you're making decisions, not just following the line.

And then on the mission, you discover that Rahna is there too, maybe being used for experiments because she's a biotic or something.
Just throwing ideas out there.
@ FouCaptain--your ideas are awesome too! Elysium would be sweet!

If that's what you're thinking, it might be possible in K&A DLC.

I think I know what you mean about LotSB, but not entirely. Would you want something like Kasumi's loyalty mission or Overlord, in terms of choices?

I think Kasumi and the Overlord DLC are good examples for those "little" choices that you make and could carry over to the next game - maybe they'll give it just a little nod in ME3, seeing how most big choices from ME! were downplayed in ME2.
No idea what kind of choices could be made in a Kaidan/Ash DLC, though.

I doubt being at ground zero of a nuclear bomb leaves one "twisted and bitter". More like vaporized.
