As for Specter status? Hate to say it but no way the Turian/Salarian/Asari council would give that status to Ash as she is more than a little anti-alien, to say the least. As for Kaidan, he's too nice, much as I love his character. Not enough steel in him.
I don't believe either will become a Spectre, but the justifications you offer wouldn't disqualify them.
Saren was as anti-alien (humans being aliens to other species) as you can get, and he was the Council's top man.
And the way the Codex describes the Spectres, being an "ardent peacemaker" wouldn't count you out. Paragon Shepard is like a steel fist with a velvet glove. No reason Kaidan couldn't be the same.

'Anti-alien' is a bit harsh, I'd say rather that Ash was originally mistrustful, but she opened up as the story progressed. But given her family history, I could see the council being reluctant to take her into their special forces. Unless, you know, the council is now all human. Then I really have no idea. I also don't think either VS would want the position. It would be too much like trying to replace Shepard, and given that neither coped with her death particularly well, I doubt they'd be eager to fill her spot.Zan51 wrote...

If it is a Human run council, I still cannot see one good reason to choose either Ash or Kaidan. What have they done that is outstanding, which is the mark of a specter? Not a lot. No Last One Standing for either of them, no Holding the Line. Nothing to mark them apart from a million other folk like them, sadly.
Personally, I selfishly prefer that Shepard to remain the only human spectre. I like that it's her thing. I see Kaidan and Ash as more of the secret service/special assignment types.

On another note: updated the OP again. Rearranged, streamlined, and emphasized certain aspects that fans have been most vocal about.
Great work again, Brody! Just noticed something in the revised OP:
[/list]I think you intended the last point to be two seperate ones.DO NOT WANT (PLEASE AND THANK YOU)
The option to kill Ashley or Kaidan
Events on Horizon to be left undiscussed
Same dialogue, actions, cutscenes, clothing/armor used for both, further melding Kaid and Ash into one person.
Phoenix armor on KaidanA resurrected, zombified Virmire casualty

I agree, Mox.
Also, Zan, you have to consider that Kaidan is a marine and made it to Commander in the last two years. I'm quite sure he didn't get where he is now by being "too nice". Not to mention that we don't really know yet how he changed since Shepard died and came back.

To take a real world example. One of the most highly trained Special Ops units in the world is the US Navy SEALs. Not counting Basic training and BUDs, SEAL training is approximately 20 weeks. In ME: Revelation they imply that the N7 program is the outgrowth of the Special Ops units of Earth.
N7 is a training program, not a mark of your career status.

Anyone else think that this would be a great promo picture for a Kaidan & Ash DLC?

I think that we see his steel on Horizon. He goes toe to toe with Shepard. Despite Shepard's charismatic and forceful personality, and (in some cases) former relationship, he doesn't allow himself to be swayed. He sticks to what he knows is right. He tells Shepard off and walks away.
No. I would say that Kaidan has plenty of "steel" in him. Its just more of the quiet strength rather than Shepard's more open display.

N7 is a training program, not a mark of your career status.
The N is an indication of your career path. And the 7 is supposed to be indicative of your proficiency at that particular path. I don't see how that can be all up to training. The N, yes, but if the difference between N1 and N7 is just which training class they went to, why would anyone sign up for the N1 program? It would be like special ops for dummies.
It would make more sense to have everyone go through the special ops programs, and then be assigned the number based on performance.
That setup was one thing I really hated about the books.
Oh, and can you add to the list "Minuteman Station, in order to take down the Illusive Man."? Given how much of Ashley and Kaiden's problems with you stem from you being with Cerberus, shutting Cerberus down together would be the perfect reconciliation, wouldn't it?

This.
In ME1 Kaidan is not as "in your face" as Shepard can be, but that does not make him less strong or capable.

Just like to reiterate my support. I hope that Ashley and Kaidan, two wonderful and brilliantly written characters, receive the excellent DLC that both deserve. I hope that my Shepard can reconcile her friendship, and apologise for her conduct on Horizon.
Wait, what? Why the heck would my Shepard apologize for her conduct? She saves the colony, tries her best to reconcile with a friend she's thrilled to see, and gets brushed off.
I'd like a chance to make up, but if I have to apologize in order to do so, it ain't happening.

While really I love the idea of taking down TIM and turn his base into a giant firecracker display on space,,, but I think that kinda mission would be reserved in ME3 if the devs decides to go there due to the storyline in ME universe (ME3 retribution / David Anderson - wikia. I confess I only read the synopsis and not the actual novel, though)

Maybe, but I also thought that Bioware would save the Shadow Broker storyline for ME3 and look what happened. We got a wonderful DLC. Maybe they'll surprise us yet again and we get another excellent, high quality DLC for Ash & Kaidan as Liara did with LotSB.

We had this very topic just a few pages back.
I don't see how anyone can say that Shepard tried her best to reconcile on Horizon. Horizon had one of the coldest, ineloquent lines for Shepard in the whole game. Shepard treats her/his good friend or love interest like a stranger or a mere acquaintance at best.
Shepard showed up on Horizon with Cerberus - one of the enemies in ME1 and a group that conducted questionable experiments and operations, to put it lightly.
Kaidan, or Ash for that matter, made the most logical connection for them: Shepard faked her death, betrayed the Alliance and therefore turned her/his back on them. It's much more logical to assume that than Shepard being a dead frozen blob, put back together with the help of TIM and four billion credits. From what we know Shepard is the first person to ever be resurrected. From their position and what they know, they are very justified to accuse Shepard of treason.
The unhelpful and, in my opinion, out of character dialogue for Shepard, Kaidan and Ashley did not do any good either.
As TeenZombie put it in the KAST, it's more or less a plot device. If Shepard had convinced Kaidan or Ashley to listen then s/he would have understand and supported Shepard however they could.
But because Shepard had to be isolated for ME2 and the player to pushed to the "compelling" ME2 LIs, we got stuck with Shepard's "It's been a long time. How've you been? Ah yes, I've been dead for two years and show up with Cerberus agents but let's not get into that, yes?" and Ash/Kaidan's "You betrayed us! No, I'm not going to listen! I'm leaving for the Citadel right now!".

Oh, I definitely think he could do it. I think Kaidan would make a fine spectre. Like Chignon said, he made staff commander in two years, he's dedicated and completely capable. And after saving the Citadel he's high-profile enough to be noticed by the council. I just wonder if he would want it. Although, knowing Kaidan, even if he didn't he'd probably do it anyway.Jade5233 wrote...

But what if we met someone related to the soldier left behind on Virmire?
It could be one of Ashley's sisters?
And for Kaidan it could be Rahna (can't remember the name precisly).

I don't why. But having Rahna turning up to be some psycho-biotic we would have to kill would be quite out-of-place!
But I still stand by my original idea. Let's meet someone related to the person we left behind, it could be quite an emotional moment.
It could perhaps make all those haters feel sorry that they killed the character!
