I'd prefer Rahna not be turned into some psycho witch, if at all possible.
I wouldn't mind at all if it's well written and believable, like Lossefalme's story Oligo.

I agree with you. I'd rather not have her show up. I can deal with the citadel doctor, but really, childhood crushes. would rather not.

I'll read that fanfiction after I get home. I shouldn't be on here anyway, I have a midterm in an hour.
But I would like to meet Ashley's family. Regardless if she died or not.

That reaction would be a bit over the top. One, you can't really compare Rahna and the Citadel doctor and what he shared with Shepard. Two, he said he moved on or in case of the Citadel doctor it was just as he wrote in the Horizon message, one date that his friends talked him into. I don't see what the big deal is.

Fair enough regarding Rahna. Just trying to throw out ideas.

As I said, it's not a bad idea if well executed by Bioware. And we know they can do a good writing job if they want to.
And all the best for your midterm!
EDIT: Have fun reading the fanfic. It's excellent!

Agreed.
I actually wouldn't really want to meet her. Every non-essential NPC we just "happen to run into" makes the universe a bit smaller. Leave her in Kaidan's past, where she belongs.
But if we were to meet her, having her become yet another psycho biotic would be rather trite at this point, IMHO.
EDIT
If we had to meet someone from his past, how about an old buddy of Vyrnnus'? Someone you just prepare yourself to kill once he brings it up... and he turns out to be a nice guy with no grudges towards Alenko? This might be better saved for a small ME3 encounter, actually.

Suggested the same thing one page back. I like that idea very much - it is something unique to Kaidan's background.

additionally, the citadel doctor should only get a nod in passing ("Hey, I said it wasn't serious and I meant it.") and move on.
continuing the relationship with Ash/Kaidan should be about MOVING ON to bigger and better things, not wallowing in the past about Horizon or what came before it. time to move on! hence, the need for a VS DLC!

Kaidan: You ready to move on?
Shepard: First we burn this citadel doctor's clinic, then we move on... Okay fine. Let's just move on.

I remember some lady gamers hungering for poor Lillith's blood. I'd laugh, but then I remember the anger about That Stinking Desert Lizard being set up as a rival for Shep in the Liara comics...

Let's meet the citadel doctor.
Truthfully though, I feel bad for her, she kind of gets a bad rap among Kaidan fans. Jade wrote a great fanfiction about their date--and it didn't end badly.
EDIT: Oh, here's something juicy from one of the workers at Bioware, Mr. Jesse Houston! Gives me some hope on the Kaidan and Ashley issues!
This was taken from this thread. Page 13.BioWare values all of the romance options in the Mass Effect series as equally important. No matter who you choose to romance or whether you play male or female Shepard, each romance is equally important to the story and outcome.

Well, that doesn't sound too bad.
And yes, you're right. He has a cousin. Maybe we could meet someone else who went through training at BAaT - it doesn't necessarily have to be Rhana. Kaidan mentioned that he and some of the kids were quite close.

I think meeting Ash's family would be great. I liked listening to her talk about her sisters, Samantha Shepard always wanted a sister.

Trouble with introducing a friend of Vyrnnus is that it would be less personable in a way. And if even Shep, Shadow Broker, and Cerberus can't access Kaid's whereabouts, how would a friend of Vyrnnus? But then again, it seems everybody and their dog knows who Shepard is in ME, and s/he is supposed to be a clandestine Spectre. Doesn't Kaidan have a cousin? Maybe we could meet him and he could give us....genetically modified food?I don't know, this "meeting somebody from Kaidan's life in DLC," speculation is hard.
Let's meet the citadel doctor.![]()

Nice. I keep repeating to my self - have faith, they will fulfill their promises.
I also feel bad for the Doctor. She probably likes him and now he's found out Shepard is still alive, and he still cares about her so goodby Doc. Yes, Kaidan has a cousin he talked about after you visit Feros he mentions having his cousin send them some supplies.

Meeting Ash's family would be awesome especially if you romanced Ash. I seem to rcall her sister remarking about how cute Shep was, so it could make for some charming moments between everyone.

honestly, meeting ash's family could work for either VS. it certainly plays better to ash surviving, but meeting them and ash having been sacrificed could be very dramatic also.
I really missed the option to contact the family of the VC in ME1.

You know, instead of having two separate people from Ash or Kaid's past, I wouldn't mind it being just Ash's family.
Not to have BioWare amalgamate either into the single, "VS," but imagine how this scenario would play out with Ashley surviving vs choosing Kaidan. Like sage says, you could have either a very touching moment with Ash's family, or some really dramatic and nasty comments toward Shepard, filled with grief and despair. Especially since Shep was 'faked her death,' as the rest of the world sees it, and teamed up with Cerberus, and if Ashley was Virmired, she died under Shepard's command, under Alliance command. That's got to be bitter tasting for Ashley's die-hard Alliance family.
No getting different voice actors for each. No having to make new animations for several characters. BioWare would save time and money.
But this acknowledges the severity of the Virmire situation from ME1 put into ME2, and a different outcome depending on who you saved.

Well we have to make up for Horizon and being a traitor and working with Cer...........i dont need to have to fight ghosts from the past as well but thats my opinion
And no i refuse to let this thread to go down to No 2 page

Citadel Doctor sounds like it is what it is: a casual date that may have turned out less than perfect (sagequeen) or fairly enjoyable for a man who had trouble healing (jade5233), but neither of them serious.
My hope for great quality Kaid and Ash DLC has ever increased with Jesse Houston's responses in the FemShep thread regarding FemShep/ManShep and Liara discrepancies.

.See, up until now she's had a very minor military career and has held her past as a reason to blame for that and now suddenly she's being given the chance in a big military operation to prove what she's got, however she is still being weighed down by the issues that plagued her past.
There is actually a major moment of character development in that game where Shepard does get into an argument with Ashley that ends with (this is optional by the way) Ashley accepting that she really needs to blame the Alliance, not the Council, for how her family name was treated and as a result is finally able to let the past be the past and not let it interfere with her future, and put her past prejudices to the side and now be able to push forward, self assured.
So essentially, Ashley's flaws and problems with the past is something she (potentially) overcomes in Mass Effect and moves forward and changes her worldview completely for the better, finally feeling confident and self assured and no longer suffering from her past feelings on inadequacy.
So yeah, what really dissapointed me was that Ashley returns to having a grudge against aliens in Mass Effect 2 and that it completely negates the entire point of her character arc in the original Mass Effect, that her distrust of aliens was just a shield to hide that deep down she resents her own army and that she needs to let the past be the past and not weigh her down.
So when she finally has that redemptive awakening, they suddenly just do away with it altogether. That really bothers me as it actually almost gives fuel to the fire of angry Ash haters out there who are convinced that the only reason Ashley dislikes aliens is because she thinks humans are the better race (or whatever their insane reasoning is).
I for one would like to see the new reformed Ash, perhaps no longer needing to push herself so hard and allowing herself to be more open with her feelings and more friendly towards people and of course, no longer having any prejudices and grudges and is now just pushing forward free of any sense of past inadequacy.
I mean this new 'reformed' Ash could easily find a way to not stick one hundred percent true to the Alliance and instead be more willing to do what she believes is right without being restrained by subsequent loyalties and feelings of duty towards certain factions holding her back. It has the potential to make her character come full circle.
I for one, do not want to see her just return to the original roots with no explanation and just get turned into a ridiculous caricature of what people with bad spelling and serious aggression issues keep labeling her as in youtube comments, I want to see her character arc fleshed out and given the air time that it properly deserves.
