It will mean they still matter to BioWare, and that there's potential for DLC.
Hopefully it's not wishful thinking.

Trailer? Now I'm curious.

There's been speculation on a possible ME3 trailer, because the first trailer for ME2 came out about a year before its release.
Don't quote me on that though.

I thought ME3 was due end of 2011 beginning of 2012? That being the case, would the trailer for ME3 be out beginning of next year?

Yeah. Besides that, our first trailer was a geth with broken N7 armor and Shepard KILLED IN ACTION. Of course, all of this made sense later, but I wouldn't expect a first trailer to actually tell us anything relevant. It also most likely only appear until close to DA2's release time. BioWare most likely wants fans focusing on that, not splitting up their fanbase hype.

When was the teaser web site put up? With the animated concept art of the locations we would end up visiting in ME2? That would be something to wait for as well...
Heh, I actually much preferred that site over the official one that it got replaced by. Same with the placeholder box art vs. the release version.

1-Also known to have an impact in Mass Effect 3 is any romance the player has pursued. If Commander Shepard had a love interest in Mass Effect, yet pursued a new love interest in Mass Effect 2, this could have negative repercussions for Shepard's relationship in Mass Effect 3. (http://masseffect.wi..._3#cite_note-18)
2- Guest-552 One thing I'm really excited to see is the achievement data that will show how faithful players are to their ME1 love interest. And the best part is, even though I expect most (almost all?) players will cheat on their ME1 love interest, that decision too will come back to haunt them in the next game! (https://docs.google....xshh_82cx7t67db)
Since your faithfulness will impact ME3, having the option to reconcile would probably mess up their plans.
THAT SAID I FULLY SUPPORT A VS DLC. I would particularly like lots and lots of dialogue, with heaps of anger and pain.

Well, this time next year it would be out by the end of 2011. If We're lucky, and it'd be almost two years in the works. If it's out in November, then it'd be four years after ME1's release. Or it could be in January, then it'd be two years since ME2's release.
But I do hope BioWare gives us DLC to tide us over till then.

Dragon age orgins got an Expansion, don't see why ME2 can't get one, and in expansion they can add more Voice Actors together instead of the few we get in DLC's and we'd have a bigger more epic story and prolly side missions and whatever else they add to the hubworlds.
it would sell well I reckon, ME seems to be rather popular.
as for stuff on ME3, not til next Year I reckon.

Btw,,,
Do you think it possible that the VS dlc will involve Anderson and/or Kahlee Sanders somehow? One could either a) Help attack a Cerberus facility or
Or even help out at the Jon Grissom Academy? [ far fetched, but who knows =) ] It would be cool for non-romanced VS to join up with Shep helping their former Captain in tight situations (Hell, I'd love to see Anderson fight, he's a war hero after all!).
But for the romanced VS however, I think it's gonna be funny in an awkward kind of way though; K/A, Shep, Anderson & Kahlee all together blasting hostiles. Almost like seeing a double date gone horribly wrong

Oh, how sweet it would be to unlock a "Loyal Lover" achievement or something like that.

I want there to be a significant bond between Ash/Kaiden and Shepard regardless of whether they are a love interest or not.
I agree.
I want bro hugs from Kaidan from my ManShep.
And hugs from Ashley too.
I did like how they did the friendships for LotSB, and that it was still different from the romance, but it was still touching for goth decisions.

I think all of us has awesome ideas to add for what we want to see for DLC.
There's definitely commonalities, which is nice.
Hopefully BW takes note.
I've probably said that 1000x already. XD

There's no way to say for sure, but a LOT of the character stuff with Liara and Shep that people loved best were very similar to what people were craving for in the earlier, angry Liara threads. Hell, we even got what might be called a "shut up" kiss interrupt, question her about the obsession with the "friend", and a chance for Shepard to snark about the "hacking missions".
Either Bioware do pick up on Fanbase wishes, or great minds think alike. Whichever it was, everyone won, and LotSB was the best DLC to date, with the most universal approval I've yet seen for a Mass Effect product from the fanbase.
So we should definately keep on suggesting stuff.

I agree with you, Mox, I think Bioware is a company that tries to accomodate fans' demands as best they can. (How's that for assonance?) LOTSB felt like it directly addressed a lot of issues that a lot of us had, so I remain incredibly (naievely?) optimistic not only that we'll get VS DLC, but that we'll get truly epic VS DLC.

Awesome post, Mox!
I couldn't agree more on that: we got a more emotional Shepard (even if you did not romance Liara), different animations for FemShep and MShep, a reference to Shepard's psychological profile (Sole Survivor), at least mplied crew interaction and some really funny references to ME1 and ME2 - Bioware could continue in that vein with an equally great Kaidan & Ash DLC.

Something like that should have been in the main game in the first place. I love your idea, avalon. I really do.avalon30 wrote...
I have a fantasy that there will be a DLC in which we get to "create" a reply. Rather than just "continue" and "end" options, I imagine a reply that would work sort of like any other dialogue in the ME universe-- that is, we get to choose from several options as we craft the letter.FireEye wrote...
I think they should have included a "reply to" button or a breakup option on Horizon.
For example:
Intro choices could be something like Dear Kaidan - Hi Kaidan - To Cmdr. Alenko - Hey Jerkface
First body paragraph could have choices for I still care for you deeply, that hasn't changed - We had something but now I'm not sure, let's figure it out later - I've moved on, let's stay friends - I'm sleeping with someone new, hope you are too - etc.
Basically I want to build a reply that has some customization options. It wouldn't really be so hard, I think.
It would be even better if Shepard read those lines aloud as she typed them. I would swoon for the sweetness of all the options my Shep would pick. And then I would go on youtube and giggle nervously as I listened in horror to somebody else's foolish Shep starting her message "Hey Jerkface..."
