I can imagine us waiting all this time... to see Chris had made a thread in the announcement section...
and its another bloody appearance/weapons pack
Of course.
Hopefully, they've been delaying any DLC announcements with all these other ones of soundtracks or comics so that they can slap us with something awesome.
This is how I would like to see Kaidan special intro ME3 to start (sorry Ashley fans, I just can’t stand that girl, too xenophobic for my taste... and after all, I am a female player, so u get the picture). I was thinking for long about this and yes, I would like one stupid thing from times of KOTOR and DA corrected finally. I just don’t want anymore Alistair-Daelish female-Tamlen aftermaths... I mean how insensitive one can be? She finds out that her childhood best friend turned into Tormented Shriek... and then she finds out that he was following her that whole time and that he loved her... she has to kill him and Alistair, her love says – it’s better that way, without stopping to see how she’s actually doing... yeah right, that’s what someone who loves you would do, not!
BioWare story designers have proven with Liara (and male Shepard romancing Tali) that they are capable of making your squad mates not that egocentric, so yes, time for Kaidan to prove his worth after Horizon episode (no wonder Rana was afraid of him after he actually saved her, that guy should learn how to show his love and concerns – some claim he’s Carth Onasi, well, pardon me gentlemans and ladies, our Kaidan is not even like Carth... at least not yet).
I won’t lie to you, this will be most probably hard reading cause there are not simple clicks on the options and space for skipping, but hey, nothing in Shepard’s existence is easy, so... And if I had some bad English moments, please do forgive me, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to see some dualistic views, shades of grey, paragon not being predictable paragon and actually fun and smart renegade for that matter... and that all can be actually done with simple following our views on the world, meaning of our purpose here.
Female Shepard, paragon/paragade, romanced Kaidan, stayed faithful to him pathway (I’ll post just this pathway for starters – no use in revealing the others if people don’t like what they read):
(In this one you should have Garrus, Tali surviving Suicide Mission, Garrus sparing Sidonis so he’s not in jail or hunted by Sidonis’ avenging hidden twin bro’ or something like that – if one of ’em died, or Garrus is on the run or in jail – Joker drops in and Dr Chakwas – has to be someone from the ME1- Shepard got Chorban’s message in ME2).
Basic setting before cutscene (this is how I would actually start ME3 to justify facial reconstruction again and possible change of class and of course this is how I would introduce even deeper lore that is actually connected to humans themselves):
Female Shepard has gone missing during the mission on Klencory – after touching yet another prothean beacon discovered deep in the ground.
We see Shepard finally getting to Klencory to see if there’s something else on ’beings of light’ and while venturing through system of tunnels with her squad mates, and after fighting packs of new types of machines resembling keepers, she has found another beacon near really strange statues that resemble humans and asari and tablets that say next in, what universal translator recognizes as, linear B writing: (Shepard reads it outloud):
And when damaged...shtim survived the flood and Gods finally had taken a rest at Peak of Stars, Ahura came to him and said: I feel sorry for your kind and this should never happen again. I’ll give you servants and immortality so you can take revenge on all those who made you suffer like this. What shall it be? Simple husk that will serve them or ... damaged part...
And thus Ahura said: The choice is made.
Shepard touches the beacon and vanishes. Her squad mates are shocked and then the entire system of tunnels starts to crumble and they have to run for their lives. They manage to salvage one ’keeper-machine’ body and aboard the Normandy, they decide to find Chorban on the Citadel and see if he managed to discover something more about the keepers, their origins, so they can narrow the search for Shepard more easily. They do know that Shepard is still alive since the Cerberus actually implanted her with tracking chip without telling her in ME2 – chip sends her life signs and if in decent proximity, it actually can show her location.
Mordin (if he survived, if not then EDI) and all others that survived are looking at the salvaged body and Mordin/EDI say:
Mordin (if he had survived): This is yet another organic-machine hybrid, but unlike those we saw on Eden Prime or on Horizon... similar to indoctrinated Protheans in some ways, but still very different. Implants are here to augment physical strength and endurance, but everything else is intact. Hate to see that... more worrying than I anticipated. There has to be a third party in this conflict and I need to work fast if we want to find Commander.
EDI appears and says: Professor Solus, I compared this hybrid with the data I have on keepers. It is not much, but there are few similarities between these two. Few months back, commander Shepard recieved a message from salarian scientist Chorban who claimed that he had found a way to actually scan the keepers. Maybe that could be good place to start the search for Commander.
Mordin: I suspected myself that there is something in common between this hybrid and the keepers, not just superficial resemblance. EDI, find us a way to contact this Chorban individual. We need to meet him.
If Mordin is dead - then EDI has her monolgoue:
EDI: This is yet another organic-machine hybrid, but unlike those seen on Eden Prime or Horizon... similar to indoctrinated Protheans in some ways, but still very different. Implants are here to augment physical strength and endurance, but everything else is intact. I compared this hybrid with the data I have on keepers. It is not much, but there are few similarities between these two. Few months back, commander Shepard recieved a message from salarian scientist Chorban who claimed that he found a way to actually scan the keepers. Maybe that could be good place to start the search for Commander. I’ll track this individual and set us a meeting with him.
On Citadel:
Garrus and Tali (Joker/Dr Chakwas depending on her surviving Collector Base) are in Dark Star, waiting for Chorban, drinking, when Kaidan Alenko enters the cafe and sees them.
Cutscene (Garrus/Tali scenario):
Garrus and Tali are sitting by the table. Kaidan approaches them.
Kaidan: It has been long since I saw you. Glad you look good.
Garrus: You should get some eye implants, Kaidan. Hell, I’m stating something that was obvious long time ago... Mind you, tis strange that Alliance keeps blind men that don’t go for treatment.
Kaidan: I see just fine, Garrus... I left Horizon bagage behind me. You should do it too or are the Palaven opthamologists incapable or too expensive? I heard that Normandy has docked. I went to the docking bay and saw that she has traces of serious beating. Docking officer didn’t say anything about that or the fact that Shepard didn’t sign docking papers in person. Anderson told me some time ago that abductions of human colonies seized so I’m guessing you’re on leave, finally. Still with Cerberus?
Garrus takes a sip from the glass. He looks annoyed while Tali is looking in opposite direction from Kaidan avoiding any eye contact. Kaidan looks confused, he takes one of the nearby chairs and pulls it to their table. Garrus hits the table with his right hand fist, showing that Kaidan is not invited to sit with them. Kaidan sits down anyway.
Kaidan: So you’re still with Cerberus then... It is strange though to see non-humans being so loyal to their cause... or Cerberus suddenly changed its skin now?
Garrus: I told you you’re a blind man. Always hated that in man that claims to follow the rules... too much frame, too many boundries, it is all on the surfice for you, isn’t it... pathetic...
Tali turns to Garrus.
Tali: Stop it, Garrus. You are not honouring her with that attitude. She would never agree with it.
She turns to Kaidan and says:
Tali: No, we are not with Cerberus, Kaidan... We never were. Even ’Cerberus’ is not with Cerberus anymore. I’m glad you’re ok but we really need some privacy now... We’re waiting for an old friend. It’s good to see you, though.
Kaidan: (annoyed) And I’m not a friend anymore? And where is Shepard? What’s that garbage about honouring her? She didn’t sign the docking papers... Did something happen to her?
Tali looks down and Garrus takes roughly Kaidan by his uniform, nearing his face to Kaidan’s ear.
Garrus: Shepard is just fine... on Bekenstein... taking spa treatments or maybe she’s just performing some twisted experiments for Cerberus (panting). Yeah, making some monstrosities just for the sake of fun. You know Shepard, she is manipulated, twisted by Cerberus... Loosing it...You would like to hear something like that, wouldn’t you?
Tali gets up and pushes Garrus away from Kaidan.
Tali: Stop it, Garrus... both of you, just stop it! Kaidan, please, just leave. You’ve done enough. I meant when I said that I’m glad to see you, but please, just leave. Listen to me and leave... for old times sake.
Kaidan nods at Tali. He gets up from his chair, pauses for a second and then says.
Kaidan: I’m glad that at least someone still remembers what we’ve been through together.
Kaidan hugs Tali and with a slight move plants a tiny bug to her enviromental suit. Then he turns and leaves without any back look to Garrus.
Tali turns to Garrus and says.
Tali: Garrus, don’t you think this was a bit too much? I know that Kaidan went over the line on Horizon, but still...
Garrus: (with anger): You weren’t there when he attacked Shepard... you didn’t hear his accusations and saw her face then. That was the only time I saw actual pain on Shepard’s face, I swear... so, he deserved even worse... stupid blind man. Just stupid, blind man.
Joker/Chakwas scenario:
Joker and dr Chakwas are sitting by the table. Kaidan approaches them.
Kaidan: It has been long since I saw you, especially you, dr Chakwas. Glad you look good.
Joker: Well, you know me, staff lieutentnat, been working out in gym, eyeing those Collector sexy babes. Mind you, next thing I’ll be doing is sumo wrestling or asari-hanar dirty movies. Just need to learn that eye trick with embracing the eternity thing.
Kaidan: Charming as ever (laughter). By the way, Joker, I’m not staff lieutenant anymore. And you, dr Chakwas, how you’ve been?
Dr Chakwas: I’m ok, dear Alenko. Too much work but I can’t complain... anything’s better then just having idle thoughts. You know what they say – Idle mind is devil’s playground. Please, sit with us and have a drink.
Kaidan gives her a long look and then fetches a nearby chair and sits with them.
Joker: (looking restless suddenly) Erm, doctor, as much as I want to have few drinks with um...
Kaidan: Captain Alenko now, have my own ship and crew. What’s wrong, Joker?
Joker: (being evasive) Nothing, nothing... it’s just we have one important meeting soon concerning our latest mission.
Kaidan: (inquisitive) Since when is Shepard sending you on important meetings? Awkward, saying it as an understatement. And when it comes to that, where is Shepard? I was hoping to see her. I went to docks to see new Normandy but one of the docking officers told me that Shepard wasn’t signed in as a captain this time.
Joker and dr Chakwas exchange looks briefly.
Dr Chakwas: (blurts out) Ah, Commander is on Bekenstein, attending some formal duty there, we’ll pick her up later. She didn’t want top bore us. Our presence was not required. And this meeting is somewhat private... about Joker’s Vrolik syndrome.
Kaidan takes a long look at both of them and then reluctantly gets up.
Kaidan: Ok, I understand, didn’t mean to pry. Just promise me that we’ll have our drink before you leave again. It is a shame that Shepard is not here.
Both Joker and dr Chakwas look down as Kaidan says this. He shakes hands with Joker and hugs dr Chakwas. While he is hugging her, he plants a tiny bug on her uniform.
Kaidan: See you soon, I hope. And do tell Shepard that I would like to see her...
As he is leaving Dark Star, Joker and dr Chakwas are starring at each other.
Joker: Phew, that was close... he saw right through your bluff, doctor. Who would say that for once my Vrolik syndrome will be an actual advantage?
Dr Chakwas: But why are we hiding that Commander’s missing? It’s our Alenko.
Joker: Ah, doctor, you didn’t see Shepard after meeting Alenko on Horizon... I watched her getting spaced on the first Normandy. I watched her while she was taking a stand against everything that was thrown at her from people, from entire universe... but then, I can swear on it, for the first time I saw her pain... Believe me, doctor, that was the saddest sight I’ve seen in my life. If Commander’s alive, I mean she is, isn’t she? But suppose she’s in trouble... she wouldn’t want to get him involved.
Fade out.
Cutscene (Kaidan’s cabin aboard his ship ’Tesla’ – there is a desk with computers on it, glass boxes with medals, few datapads lying in the mess, maquettes of ships are hung around the cabin, there is one military simple bed, small table and couple of metal chairs, there is also one locker – it is a modest cabin respecting Alliance regulations – ascetic.)
Kaidan is pacing like he’s waiting for something, holding one hand on his right ear. He looks perplexed. Suddenly he stops, then rushes to the console on his desk. He presses ’record’ button and voices become loud and clear.
Garrus/Tali scenario:
Chorban: ...didn’t know whom to turn when I found out about this. No one on the Citadel would listen to me anyway, especially not after commander Shepard died... When I heard that she’s alive, I had to send her an email, but in subtle manner, galactic extranet is not safe... I know that all too well.
Garrus: Damn it, she didn’t say anything about your message. Guess, she just thoguht you’re too late with your warning, she already knew that about the keepers. She had spoken to Vigil, you know.
Tali: (interrupts Garrus) It doesn’t matter now. She is gone, missing, vanished, and we need to find her. We’re loosing precious time. Tracker is beeping like crazy in past few hours and I’m afraid that it malfunctioned... I don’t even know why are we here. Wish that dr Chakwas was here... I have a nasty feeling in my gut and it isn’t some quarian tummy ache. I don’t care if someone would say that I’m overreacting... or being a drama queen, for that matter. Garrus, we’re going to loose Shepard... I feel it, she’s in pain and alone. Please, I beg you.
Kaidan looks stunned.
Garrus: (sounding annoyed) Don’t invite misery before it happens. We’ll find her... I feel she’s alive... somewhere. She has to be... there is hidden meaning, purpose in everything... in her existence, in what she did for all of us. I refuse to let go of her just like that... not for the second time. Never again. I will believe in her... in her strength.
Chorban: Wait, you have a tracker for Shepard? And you say it’s beeping like crazy? I believe it’s not because it is broken... Shepard could be actually here... on the Citadel... better said, in the Citadel itself.
Garrus and Tali: What???
Sounds of panting, struggle.
Chorban: Stop! That’s what I was trying to tell Commander this whole time. I managed to wire one of the Keepers... I managed to track all its movements, even record everything it’s been doing. I’m still shocked by discoveries I’ve found. We all knew that Citadel is full of hidden ducts and secret tunnels but but...
Garrus: Slow down, Chorban. Salarians ain’t that soft.
Chorban: Give me that glass... (sound of slurping)... there. I’m ok now. I get excited too easily. My mother often warned me...
Tali: Keelah, say it already!
Chorban: There are huge hidden chambers, full of strange tech and tanks... We never wondered from where keepers are coming or how they stay even in numbers after some of them self-destruct. And, there are, there...
Garrus: (annoyed and impatient) Tali, give him another glass, don’t let him choke on us... yet.
Loud sound of running steps and then sound of slurping. Kaidan starts to pace nerviously again. After longer pause Chorban starts talking again.
Chorban: There is another device that looks like that strange statue, Relay Monument and and... I’m ok... keepers are using it...
Garrus: (interrupts him) It must be it, that Klencory beacon most probably is connected to the device here somehow. That’s why it looked like Shepard vanished... she didn’t vanish, she actually was transported here, somehow...
Tali: Keelah, that’s why the tracker has gone mad. But Shepard didn’t have mako or any kind of stronger protection this time... We have to hurry! Dear ancestors, protect us all!
Garrus: Chorban, do you know how and where to enter to reach this room? Dammit! Who knows how much she has left after that... hurry! Hurry or I’ll shorten even more your salarian life span!
Kaidan hears running. Determination is visible on his face. He goes fast to his locker, puts on his armor and then goes out.
Joker/Chakwas scenario:
Chorban: ...didn’t know whom to turn when I found out about this. No one on the Citadel would listen to me anyway, especially not after commander Shepard died... When I heard that she’s alive, I had to send her an email, but in subtle manner, galactic extranet is not safe... I know that all too well.
Joker: Commander didn’t say anything about your message. Guess, she just thoguht you’re too late with your warning, she already knew that about the keepers. She was on Illos ya know...
Dr Chakwas: (interrupts Joker) It doesn’t matter now. She is gone, missing and we need to find her. We’re loosing precious time. Tracker is beeping like crazy in past few hours and I’m afraid that it malfunctioned... Not that I know too much about tech... I can patch a wound, give you medicine, but this... I don’t even know why are we here. I have that nasty feeling in my gut and it isn’t because of my ulcer earned in Skyllian Blitz.
Kaidan looks stunned.
Joker: (sounding scared) Oi, oi, shhh, you’ll jinx us, doctor, and there’s no Voodoo priest around nor Gypsies to remove the bloody hex. We’ll find her... I feel she’s alive... somewhere.
Chorban: Wait, you have a tracker for Shepard? And you say it’s beeping like crazy? I believe it’s not because it is broken... Shepard could be actually here... on the Citadel... better said, in the Citadel itself.
Joker and dr Chakwas: What???

I’m still shocked by discoveries I’ve found. We all knew that Citadel is full of hidden ducts and secret tunnels but but...
Joker: Slow down, Chorban. Jeez, you sound like my friend AI when she glitches. Talking about uneven surfaces. Sheesh, one would think we’re beyond that in far away future...
Chorban: Give me that glass... (sound of slurping)... there. I’m ok now. I get excited too easily. My mother often warned me...
Dr Chakwas: For the love of God, say it already! You’re ok, I assure you as a doctor!
Chorban: There, there (sound of heavy breathing) there are huge hidden chambers, full of strange tech and tanks... We never wondered from where keepers are coming or how they stay even in numbers after some of them self-destruct. And, there are, there...
Joker: (annoyed and impatient) Doctor Chakwas, give him something, please. Chorban, do you want me to sing for you? Look, I do awesome impression of Blasto in action – This one was not destined for chases but also this one knows what you're thinking. "Did this one fired the entire thermal clip or not?" Well, to tell you the truth, praise the Enkindlers, in all this excitement this one kind of lost track itself. But being as this is a Carnifex, the most powerful handgun on Omega, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Does this one feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?!
Dr Chakwas: Jeff! Shame on you!
Strange sounds. Kaidan starts to pace nerviously again. After longer pause Chorban starts talking again.
Chorban: There is another device that looks like that strange statue, Relay Monument and and... I’m ok... keepers are using it...
Joker: (interrupts him) It must be, that Klencory beacon most probably is connected to the device here somehow. That’s why it looked like Shepard vanished... she didn’t vanish, she actually was transported here, somehow...
Dr Chakwas: Dear God, that’s why the tracker has gone mad. But Shepard didn’t have mako or any kind of stronger protection this time... We have to hurry! I just hope her cybernetics didn’t tear her apart... magnetic fields and God knows what could do that... oh dear... Fack, I’m too old to deal with that dualistic sheit!
Joker: Doctor, I’m shocked... you swearing...Chorban, show us how to get to her... and don’t be such a douchebag. Doctor, signal Normandy team, it’s time for their hands to get dirty. I could go, but I prefer my bones not to be broken. I’m not a commando type like crazy Zaeed.
Kaidan hears running. Determination is visible on his face. He goes fast to his locker, puts on his armor and then goes out.
Fade out.
Cutscene: (Kaidan is hidden behind some crates in abandoned warehouse on Tayseri Ward. He sees Chorban, Garrus and Tali or (in case of Joker/Chakwas scenario some of other ME2 sqaud members that actually survived Suicide Mission entering small duct hole in one of the walls. Kaidan waits for few seconds and then he goes himself inside.)
Player gets control over Kaidan. Kaidan has Sentinel abilities – the goal is to pass through system of ducts and as Bailey described, they are very dangerous – if Kaidan makes wrong turn he can finish lacerated by the fans or fall down in vacuum or just spend hours in labyrinth or bump into one of the keepers, sprayed with acid as it self-destructs. Guidline should be – stick with one direction, like in KOTOR2).
Cutscene (As Kaidan emerges from the ducts he enters a huge chamber. It is poorly illuminated. He sees moving shapes, tanks, strange machines and in distant corner, he sees device resembling Conduit and dark shape on the floor. He can hear voices of Garrus and Tali behind him or voices from other Normandy squad members. He sneaks by moving shapes, reaching the shaded shape lying on the floor. As he approaches, markings of N7 armour are visible. When he finally reaches it, he sees the pool of blood and that armour is literally torn apart.)
Kaidan: (screams) Nooo! Shepard! Nooo! Please, don’t you die on me again! Dearest, I beg you! Don’t you dare dying on me again!
Shepard awakes for just few seconds and says:
Shepard: Kaidan...
First, Kaidan is trying to remove Shepard’s breathing helm, with no avail – it is like melded to her skull. Then he tears off one of the gloves and feels for her pulse. Tali and Garrus are entering the room (or other squad members) using Chorban’s signal emitter to stun all the keepers that are in there. They run toward Kaidan and heavily wounded Shepard. Kaidan is holding Shepard in his arms, sobbing and begging for help... Fade out.
Loading screen – cinematic – strong light of operation room, voices of dr Chakwas and Miranda (if they survived Suicide Mission with music that resembles Byzantine-Serbian orthodox mid-evial music that has a lot connection with dualistic views on the world... yes, something like this I would like to hear ). We hear Shepard’s heavy breathing, panting, groans, and as the music goes, we see Shepard’s face in bandages while she is lying in medical bay, her pain. Also, we see Kaidan in Shepard’s cabin, looking at holo of him for longer time, then reading ship logs and finding out what Shepard did and finally, sitting by her, holding her hand and then loading screen for customization.
By the way, this doesn’t mean that Kaidan and FemShep stayed together, that she forgave him. I just wrote my idea of possible intro for Kaidan as a squad member in ME3.
sorry Ashley fans, I just can’t stand that girl, too xenophobic for my taste... and after all, I am a female player, so u get the picture.
Have you even played the 1st ME, if not then you must be a newbie.
She acts like that because she hasn't seen you in 2 years. She gets fired up in the moment, she thinks you're dead, she hears reports you're not dead, she thinks you are running from her, she felt like you led her on, and she really just couldn't handle it all at once to see you with Cerberus and because you have been dead for 2 years, it feels like only 2 weeks has gone by, which is why you talk to her like nothing has happened. I stayed true to her throughout ME2.

The conversation wasn't really the most romantic reunion ever, a little bit of tweaking would've done it good, but you gotta love the amazing voice acting they put into this. You can certainly feel the emotion and the bgm adds that sweet memory ambiance. I hope in ME3 she gets a bigger role and the relationship is more present. It just sorta lacked for me in ME2.

Of course I had many playthroughs in ME1 - never had her alive in ME2... not going to start on eternal argument about Ash. And I can't be bothered with quotes in which she is not a pleasant other species fan. Well, I never had her alive after Virmire, so maybe after she shows a bit more of her friendly nature. Simply, I don't like her character. Though your comment was out of place anyway . And I didn't say she is xenophobic, I said she is going in that direction a bit too much for my taste. Keep loving her, people, and I'll keep not liking her .
The lack of Ashley and Kaidan content in ME2 needs to be made up for. Two minutes with no character development (they had the same freaking lines, for crying out loud) doesn't cut it.
Sadly, I don't think we'll get any Squadmate dialogue, not if what happened in Shadow Broker was any example.
I took Tali and Garrus specifically to see if they'd engage with Liara when they met.
And I had Garrus accompany Liara, because he tried to reminisce with Tali on the Citadel.
Nothing happened though.
I don't take Ashley as xenophobic, more security conscious.
At this time, the Alliance and the Council races didn't have a good working relationship, so Garrus and everyone were "unknown quantities" to Ashley.
Like Pressly, her opinions most likely changed when she got to know them better.
Heck, I bet she trusts them more then Miranda and Jacob now!
She might have issues with Thane (because he's an assassin) and Legion (because he's a Geth), but the other non-Alliance personnel (except Kasumi, because she's a thief) I think she wouldn't have issues with.
I remember Ashley, when first discussing her family history, says something like "I'll never be good enough for the Alliance,". Maybe that's where a base-keeping Shepard could come in. Convince her that she's too good for the Alliance, that they're blind to all the good she's done, just like they've ignored Shepard's warning about the Reapers. If you were loyal, she'll see you integrity and fight by your side again.
^ On one hand, I have a suspicion is that a VS DLC would not fit with what they've planned for ME3... On the other hand, I'm thinking they might be holding off on anything new on the DLC front until after DA2 is launched...

But but but... thats march
If we had to wait that long, i'd want a freaking expansion pack!
It certainly does seem bleak.... it has so much epic potential though... I wish i hadn't discovered this game until the third! No waiting, whiz through the entire story... {sighs}
I wouldn't mind if there's no squaddie dialogue in this DLC. I'd want it to focus on solely Shepard and Kaidan/Ashley.

Same here. Though I would adore a hefty DLC with Ashley and Kaidan, I would hate for Bioware to have a DLC that just doesn't quite fit with the main story's trajectory.
And whether we get the VS DLC or not, I think many members main goal is being accomplished:
Reminding (respectfully-politely-but-persistently) the ME developers that their fans care about these characters and want them to be well-developed in the future.
So I know the lack of news can be a bit discouraging, but let's keep at it!
It's coming folks...have a little faith. You know what they say: patience is a virtue.
Who said that? Let me at em!
If i can wait for the third game. i can wait for DLC. I think. In a few months we'll have DA2 and shall obsess over that, and any male NPCs that come with it. Time shall hopefully pass quickly
