No trouble, Chignon, but what you wrote did make me think more carefully about throwing around terms like optimism and pessimism...

I'm optimistic that the group now has 487 members. :D

Just 13 more to get 500!

I'd join, but I don't think it'd do much good since I'm already there.

Then again, I was never very good at math.

I'd like to see VS come back in some kind of Cerberus vs Alliance DLC, and not really one that's just about them. But the big problem I see with that, as well as any other DLC(which could be a factor in no DLCs going on 2 months) is the timing. Other releases such as books and comics have already pushed the Mass Effect story forward more than a few months, and with all the newer DLC suppose to bridge the gap to ME3 the DLC would have to take place around this time, roughly a year after the suicide mission.

In Retribution Anderson said something about Shepard being off the radar which IMO will be the next DLC with hopefully the VS coming after that. The "off the radar" DLC allows the story of the game to progress up to the time line of the books/comics without to much of a problem.

It would be pretty awkward if directly after the SM you get an e-mail about Anderson fighting with Cerberus and you have to either help out the alliance with VS or Cerberus with Leng or someone else.

So, let me understand what youre saying
the next DLC should be a year after the SM to fit  with the timing?
So, Shep is again MIA/hidding/whatever for a year ........and that means the VS has to wait for yet another year to solve the problems with Shep?
Boy................if i was in VS shoes i wouldnt wait 3 years to have a resolution with anyone
I would have moved on

You know, it would make sense if the Virmire Survivor DLC would be accessible only to those who have completed the suicide mission, that way they could simulate ANY passage of time in the Mass Effect universe. They did something similar with Lair of the Shadow Broker where you could not access it until AFTER Horizon. Hey, BIOWARE! You guys taking notes, or what?!

Oh, and the Kaidan and Ashley DLC Support Group is now at 489! KEEP IT UP!

Let's start a topic, so we can be a productive thread.

Would you want a new area you can potentially access for ME3? I think of Pinnacle Station and how Shepard got an apartment (I know it's not accessible for ME2, but it might for ME3?), or the Shadow Broker's Lair from LotSB.

Unfortunately Pinnacle Station is a bad dream Bioware would rather distance itself away from given indications. With Liara as the new Shadow Broker it would be a bit of a no brainer to think it would be in ME3. A Shepard apartment? Catch me later on that one. :P

Personally, DLC or no DLC, I'm pretty optimistic that Ash and Kai will have a bigger part on ME3. I just don't see why Bioware would go to all the lengths of making them a part of ME law, only to ditch them at the end.

It was clear the only reason they didn't appear in ME2 was so they couldn't die in the end. Seems to me that suggests that they're important enough in Bioware's eyes to insure their survival into ME3.

I'm starting lean towards the idea of DLC where they feature, but not anything exclusive to them. I'm currently of the opinion that Bioware is saving them until ME3.

Hmm. That would make sense to me, especially with the way the suicide mission could turn out if you're not careful. Took me a few tries to get it right when I first played ME2.

Okay, so read an interview that was posted in the AKL and Ashley groups that just  increased my hopes.

Ray and Greg (the BioWare founders) state that they have "a pretty long DLC plan" for Mass Effect in a Euro Gamer interview.  They just, of course, haven't announced anything yet, but it's still an ongoing development.

Euro Gamer interview

Furthermore, there was an announcement on the BioWare German forums regarding the PS3 release of ME2, and one of the additions is a six hour mission.  This was passed on to me by Chig. (Thanks Chig!  :D)

It remains to be seen what exactly that six hour mission is, but I'm holding out hope that it could possibly involve Ashley or Kaidan.

Or, of course, it could just be a shortened version of ME1 for the PS3 gamers who can't play the first game.

I can be both an optimist and a realist at the same time. :)

I'm really excited about this! (:

A mission could be a nice way to introduce the PS3 people to Ash, Kaidan and the Alliance.

I don't want to sound like a broken record but:

Nobody here said that they are less important - just that they are not treated equal to any of the other LIs in the series. Up to now, at least and that is everything we can go by. At least for now. Besides, I would not call it pessimistic or "a bad mood", but merely realistic. Though, I guess that is a matter of opinion.

Tali and Garrus are squadmates in both games with a friendship arc in the first game and a romance arc in the second one.

Liara had missions in ME2 and you could return and talk to her anytime you liked. On top of that she has her own DLC now.

Every LI except Ash and Kaidan were acknowledged in Kasumi's Stolen Memory and Lair of the Shadow Broker.

And in ME2, they were only acknowledged as LI's by themselves and Joker.  Kelly gives the "do you miss him/her" speech regardless of whether you're romancing them or not.

Which I liked because I was able to roleplay (somewhat) my response to the encounter.

I romanced Kaiden because Garrus was not available I have to long term feelings with him so that being said I want the option to punch him for calling me a traitor and the issue of said name calling needs to be well addressed not a simple, " I'm sorry I called you that I was so upset when I heard you where back and working for Cerberus," no him I want to punch

Ashly I'd like to at least shove her but if not harsh words for her even if I let them rejoin my crew which is iffy at this point they'd really have to try and change my mind at this point.

As far as what can be done to reintroduce either character into the mix I like the idea of having them reemerge into you're life during the trial scenario thats been purposed later in 3 you can have the make up LI if you want or the patch up friendship if you didn't romance them.

I can see why Liara had a DLC sense she's now super info agent fighting the knowledge battle with the collectors very important role as far as Ash/Kaiden getting their own I see no reason for it sense the only hoopla they could have is if they where either A on really dangerous suicide type mission and need your help but just to reconnect your love or friendship is not a bridging factor so no need

or they become Sepctors to later hunt you down in 3 but then sense they would be said spector would have 0 reason to stay long term with shep and crew sense they would be needed elsewhere by the council. If they're going to come back I'd rather they did so in 3 and they could be a recruitment option that stays the mission rather then comes and goes.

Please, no big gap between SM and DLC. I really can't imagine what Shep will answer about why s/he didn't contact with VS. I'm not familiar with Retribution, so is there any chance that Shep just was on LotSB mission when "disappeared from radars?"

Oh, and I've just become nb. 494, so I totally lost my "turn off optimist mode" button

So do we know if this possible 6 hour mission is a free exclusive addition to ps3 gamers or do you think it will soon be made available to us too? Actually thats possibly a stupid question, they wouldnt create such a long DLC for just one set of players right? Right!?

We don't know anything as of yet except what's already been said. As to whether Bioware will make this mission available for the other platforms or not - I have no idea, but I could see it happening either way.

But what it does confirm is that there are more plans for DLC, and we can have a bit more optimism!

When they released LoTSB they said it wasn't the last piece, but the first of the bridging content. So why all this "optimism" over information that has already been known?

No. Just as Shepard was given no option to punch out Liara when she was being stubborn back in Illium, I don't want an option for Shepard to be an abusive arse to Kaidan, reasons notwithstanding. Shepard is a grown man/woman and should theoretically be mature enough to deal with arguments with former colleagues in a mature manner. No abusive behavior, no killing. Period.

Because they've confirmed that there's stuff in development, and they've confirmed that there's more than one DLC.  BW can say, "oh yes, we have lots of stuff planned!"  but if there's unforseen troubles, then the plans might never come to fruition.

Before, we knew BioWare said they were making stuff, but we didn't know anything.

Now the two head people on the BioWare hierarchy--the founders have confirmed something.  We are one step closer than we were yesterday to seeing Kaid and Ash DLC.

It also gives us more of a time-frame. That something is actively in the works means we might actually see more content this side of Christmas. *Fingers crossed*
