Good grief, how many lurkers are there? We seem to have temporarily taken over the thread.

V-Rex: I'll have to check that "I thought we were friends" conversation option. I'd always skipped over it before (Similar to why I missed Maelon's comment on indoctrination).

I fully expect a confrontation with the alliance at some point where we have to defend our actions, whether early ME3 or DLC. (Sidenote - I have seen the ME3 trailer, but I'm attempting to avoid *any* more spoilers, so I'd prefer not to speculate as to what may or may not fit with what we now know.)

I would very much like a fair amount of fighting in the VS DLC *when* (I refuse to say if) it finally comes. That said, I'm all for new gameplay styles. (The infiltrator in me really wants a stealth section.)

I don't think it would be too hard to engineer a fight which both a Sentinel and a Soldier would excel at. It didn't seem like LotSB was "built" for Liara, combat wise. (Although Stasis came in useful, I hardly used the Singularity. Then again, I was on Insanity.)

Finally, I'm going to take back my earlier comment on Immunity being similar to Tactical Cloak. Cloak allows you to flank enemies, or gives you a brief moment to nail them. Immunity? If done right, that could give you the chance to stride forwards as everyone fires at you, pushing them back as you press forwards. Obviously something would have to be done to avoid Cain Suicide Bombing though...

*returns to imitating a snowman*

(Why, yes, I did get snowed on this morning. How did you guess?)

Let it be known that I heard this from Funkcase over on a thread about Ashley Williams Then and Now on this site.

Here's an idea for a DLC. How about one without any actual action or real combat?

In terms of gameplay I figure it could be one of those 'non combat missions' you know like talking to Morinith, following the Turian politician or helping Kasumi steal stuff.

As you look for evidence to clear your name, prove Project Lazarus and the Collectors were real and prove the real risk of the Reapers and you have no choice but to rely on a former ally/lover even after things have become somewhat tense. True enough eventually the relationship's old sparks flair up again as you come closer and closer to fighting through the tangled web of politics to prove your innocence as well as Ashley/Kaiden's crisis of faith and loyalties coming into play as well.

Got the idea when I heard about how Anderson said that Ashley/Kaiden was gathering evidence to support you to the Council (apparently if you select the 'I thought we were friends' option when talking to him). To me this just seems like a great idea and maybe a fresh more in depth angle of stroy telling rather then relying on mindless killing.

Plus it means they wouldn't have to make two drastically different firefight scenarios, one for a soldier class and one for a biotic (i.e one where Ashley is useful and one where Kaiden is useful) and finally it would be very big and significant as a bridging gap in Mass Effect continuity.

What say everyone else?

I trimmed it down, but I love all of this this idea.  *drool*

Honestly, I'm tired of combat in ME2.  Maybe that's why I liked Samara's and Kasumi's missions (although Kasumi's still had combat...but it was a party heist).

I love v-rex's idea, there is alot of combat in me2 and my shep, like me, is a chatter box. Samaras loyalty mission is my favourite as there is no combat involved.

I'd love non-combat missions. Unfortunately, I'd also be worried that it'd give people reason to dislike Ashley and Kaidan on the principle that they don't fight enough or some such rot.

I have been watching this thread since it was created, I have read every comment I'm the hope that there would be news. The time was right to de-lurk and add support to this group. I have never been a fan of tali, however I am aware that one of the reasons she was a LI in me2 was because of various fan campaigns on some Internet forums. I am hoping that someone out there sees the support this group has and gives us a quality dlc.

Personally I didn't like the look of her armor in me2, I always liked the colossus x armor in me1 on ash, purely for aesthetic reasons though....... Shiny

The PS3 ME2 Armor looks much heavier and more reinforced than the 360/PC version. I guess Bioware decided to make her more of a BAMF.... Or they wanted to unisex the armor more so Kaiden can wear it with some dignity.

Why was Kaiden given Ashley's armor anyway? Did Bioware intend for Kaiden to be the default dead Squaddie from Virmire?

I think bioware presume that the majority of players are male and that they would play as a male Shep and thus would sacrifce Kaiden instead of Ash LI or not.

I think I need to dig around and find a picture or Ashley armor in the ps3 version.

Check the Ashley Fan thread. There's a comparison of Ashley between the ME2 games and her armor got a noticiable and brighter upgrade for the PS3 version.

Thanks I have found it, it does look slightly better, colossus x is still the winner for me.

Actually, I kind of like the idea of combining the noncombat and combat mission elements for the DLC. Sounds like a winners to me because it would add some variety to the game-play. Also, since Ashley/Kaiden would be on a top-secret mission the Colossus armor would be perfect. :)

I agree with Carl. It'd be a breath of fresh air to not have the usual get in, shoot stuff, the end-plot for a Kaidan and Ash DLC.

anyone seen the CDN Another specter is being introduced I would like to think its ash or kadian and is a nice bioware way of introducing a new character.

December 22nd, 2010

Citadel Council investigators have announced formal charges against 14 of 24 board members of Sonax Industries and Guanghui Solutions. The move follows an investigation that confirmed those companies withheld Prothean technology from the galactic community for personal gain and instigated an interplanetary war to that end. The investigation credited unnamed Spectres who secured what they say was “irrefutable evidence” of the corporations’ complicity. Included in those indicted is Sonax supreme commander Lira Speight. High Commissioner of Galactic Rights Yrania Asula said, “The acts of these corporations went beyond mere illegality and into crimes against the galactic populace. We invoke the right of the Council to admit evidence garnered by Council representatives to prosecute the parties involved for their misdeeds.” Lira Speight’s office reportedly responded with the following statement: “Try.”

Clear your name and get some protheane tech or something similar with ash or kadian sounds fun, and being a long term fan of the non combat aspect such as Tali trial was one of my fav bits. A bit of shooting wouldn't go a miss though at some point though.

...and to keep this post relevent, I guess I like immunity because I usually play as a vanguard, and the ability to get 2 feet away from someone before shotgunning them would be awesome!  But if there are powers like this already available, then I would be willing to consider something else.

Well, there are many things to consider, still my pick for Ashley would be explosive ammo because to me that is so HER. Shooting things with her explosive "boomstick".

I like all the romance options so far, kaiden and ashley need some kind of leadin for ME 3 other wise their story is a unknown at the end of me 2. The email from either of them is kinda of a let down considering their role in ME and what I hope to be in ME 3 will be. Knowing bioware they I hope will do these to characters justice before the launch ME 3.

The VS dlc has my vote.

It would be quite nice to have less combat and more dialogue in the DLC, but I think Bioware will not totally skip the combat. But that could be used to let Kaidan/Ashley save Shep. And maybe Shep could get shot (nothing too serious) and Kaidan/Ashley are worrying about her/him.

Also, I would really like to have Anderson back for the DLC and of course Hackett.

*De-cloaks*

An idea which came to me recently, which is similar to my (page 87) comment on a memorial to the Virmire Casualty - shouldn't there be a grave or memorial to Shepard somewhere on the Citadel? I mean, he 'only' saved the entire station... Surely at some point in the past two years something would have been made.

How do I see this being used in the VS DLC? Suppose that we finished the last mission somewhere on the Citadel (which fits nicely with V-rex's idea) or dropped Kaidan/Ashley back there when we were done (possibly for a debriefing with Anderson). Before we part ways, K/A ask us to go with them to see something.

We're taken up to the Presidium, and K/A shows us a plaque with our name on it, along with date of "death". The details/ surroundings could be customised based on our ME1 decisions. That then leads into a conversation with Ash or Kaidan about the past two years, and the results of our actions in ME1. And of course a conversation about the fact that Shepard, well, DIED. Possible convo options:
(Note, I'm not making a conversation here, just giving sentences that would fit in)

Shepard: This grave doesn't belong to me. It belongs to those who died in the battle with Sovereign(Paragon)/ So here I am, standing on my own grave(Neutral)/ Ha, even Death couldn't keep me...(Renegade)

Ashley(Romanced): I came here often. Once every few months. Anderson kept me moving around, so I couldn't do more...*goes quiet*... I'd sit there, on the bench, sometimes for half an hour or more. Praying. Reading poetry - reading it to you I guess. Or just thinking of you.

Kaidan(Romanced):Anderson's kept me busy for the past two years, but every now and then I found a chance to come here. I'd leave you a flower. It hurt, but, well, living in the face of it, you know?

Without romance, it could be comments on how popular the spot is (since the Destiny Ascension choice affects human and alien opinions of Shep) or still about them visiting it, but not as often. A funeral could also be mentioned. And *please* can we talk about the fact that Shepard is actually back from the dead! (Am I still who I think I am?/I don't remember an afterlife, but maybe I wasn't supposed to go there yet.../I lost two years of my life. That sort of thing.)
Opinions people?

*Engages tactical cloak, but remains in the area to recon results of own activities.*

At least one more. ;)

On the topic of the memorial site, I think it's a fantastic idea. One of my earlier complaints for ME2 was Shepard's blazé reaction to her own death. Maybe she's just in denial, but it comes off as, “yeah, I died, no biggie.” I always saw those first conversations about resurrection as opportunity for some great characterization and emotion, but Wooden Shepard took over and no one ever spoke of it again outside of flippant remakes about dying then “getting better”. We're not even given the option to freak out about it, all we get is a remark about loosing two years. The confrontation with a grave site would be a great time to dig a little deeper. We could see how much Shep's death tore the VS apart and be given the chance to vent about the morality of Cerberus' playing god with Shepard's life. I still want Shepard to be pissed off about that. And the chance to have an existential crisis about existence and wonder what else Cerberus tinkered with while they were at it? That would make my decade.

*pops out of cover*

Glad I'm not the only one upset about it. I mean heck Shep's human. It's got to bother him/her on some level.

(LOTSB SPOILER!)

When you talk to Liara on the Normandy she asks your 'real opinion' on the mission ahead. 2 of the three answers are, to me anyway, emotional. You get a glimpse at Shepard the Human rather than Shepard the Commander. I liked that. It made me feel closer to my Shep.

(SPOILER END)

You cant just have a bad-ass character and expect that to be the end of it. The most beloved characters of any game/movie/novel have some weakness. We can relate to them better and it immerses us deeper into the story. I read a Talimance fanfiction that had a Mshep completely loose his 'commander' composure in his cabin. It was one of the most heart wrenching things I've read.

How can his/her death not get to them?

Tehehe...I didn't mean to write so much...sorry. X3

Hi guys, I'm one of those crazy lurkers, too. I just wanted to de-cloak and say a couple things.

Firstly, I think the memorial idea is very touching. And in response to the question about Shepard struggling with the fact that she is back from the dead--this bothers me too! How come there is no moral struggle, no--"Am I still human?", "Am I still ME?". Instead we just die, and then--BAM!--we're alive again. And everyone just shrugs and says, "Sweet.". It's just WEIRD!

Back to idea's for DLC. There's a piece of artwork out there that stuck with me about this one line that I believe Kaidan said--something about the Alliance using Shepard as a recruiting tool after her death? Something like, they made vids with her picture and used them as recruiting propaganda. This really stuck with me, and I saw a picture of it rendered on Deviant that was fantastically moving. I'd really maybe like a scene where they TALK about Shepard's death, and Kaidan plays the propaganda vid on a computer to show Shep how they used her image after she died. How he'd play it and think bitterly, "They don't know her at all.".

Also, I'd like to see some real emotion. Shepard cracking under the stress, maybe. I know that this would be a Kaidan/Ashley DLC, so I don't expect them to have Shep sobbing (I have a feeling MaleShep couldn't live that down), but maybe a tear or two? The same kind of frustration that Shep felt after the Normandy was grounded in ME1? I thought that one of the most powerful scenes they missed out on in ME2 was the chance to show a funeral for Shepard, something just powerfully moving. We need moments like this in ME3.

Okay...m'done for now. I think.

~April
