@thread: This discussion of Genesisgate should be taken to another thread. I don't want to see this one locked for off-topicness. Thanks.

Edit: Here, use this one.

It's not like only Ash and Kaidan were treated poorly.

I don't remember anyone claiming this.

Though, it might be expected that we discuss Ash and Kaidan's role - and not Tali and Garrus's - in that comic and what it could mean for a VS DLC in a thread that exists just for this very purpose.

Ridiculous? I'm sorry, but last time I checked BioWare does not consist of teenaged forum-goers and bad fanfiction writers who can't be bothered to look up how his name should be spelled but the company who made ME1/ME2 and should know better.

I'm honestly tired of hearing people making excuses for them. Oh, Kaidan's name has been misspelt often - well, then it's perfectly alright for BioWare to do it, too!

I mean Bioware has miseplt his name, and he;'s not unqiue in that regard.
Also, a spelling mistake does not show poor literary skills.
"Oh, the horror! Bioware replaced the a in a name with e!"

Unique in what regard? That BioWare misspelt his name?

And I will have to disagree with you. It shows, among other things, poor literary skills. Spelling is one of the earliest literary skills we learn.

The comic is an insult to Bioware.

PS3 users should really watch a youtube play through or read a wiki summary.

Spelling is an easy thing to mess up, which is why most authors have editors.

Yes, I'm pretty sure at least 1 other character has had their name mispelt. It's not malicous, it's just a mistake.

And yes, this is a thread about VS, but because msot characters are treated poorly in 1 comic, does not mean they are discarded. As I said, Liara was botched in redemption, but pretty much every Liara fan agrees LoTSB was great, even though many claimed Bioware didn't care and wouldn't make a DLC.

They should still endure the comic as it lets them make choices, but I'll be telling my friends with PS3 to read up ME1's story, or watch it on youtube.

Nevertheless, the comic does make me worry for Ash, Kaidan, a possible DLC and ME3.

I haven't said anything about intention or malice - that was you.
Also it doesn't negate the fact that a mistake that shouldn't have happened in the first place is still there. How did this get by their editors?

"Mistakes" and "oversights"  happen with a miraculous frequency where the VS is concerned.

Why would there be editors for it? The comic is free, and only really matters to PS3 users. They obviously didn't make it with quality in mind, which we can (hopefully) both agree on.

If it isn't malicous, then why say this shows Bioware is not going to make a VS DLC? Liara was neglected, and got a DLC. Kaidan and Ashley have been neglected, not purposefully trashed for the sake of it. Bioware may not make a VS DLC, but this comic really doesn't change anything, and I personally think they will make a VS DLC.

Because it's a standard procedure. We can agree on the last part, though.

Where did I write this? I wrote that this comic worries me for what it could mean for Ash, "Kaiden", a possible DLC and ME3. I'm sorry, but you should start to work on your reading comprehension before you start putting words in my mouth.

Liara was neglected, and got a DLC. Kaidan and Ashley have been neglected, not purposefully trashed for the sake of it. Bioware may not make a VS DLC, but this comic really doesn't change anything, and I personally think they will make a VS DLC.

Liara was also the main character of her own comic and LotSB was planned for a long time before its release.

If you want to continue this discussion, I'd recommend we take this to PM. I don't want the thread to be locked because we are OT.

Just coming on here to show my support for the VS DLC. After this comic monstrosity I've decided to make a Shepard who romances Kaidan and stays loyal to him.

Same, I remade a Shepard in ME 1 just to have and stay loyal to Ashley. My original ones were all Liara (ME 2 was always Tali).

The comic does give me a little bit of hope in that possible DLC will make Ashley and Kaidan distinct rather than the VS melding that often happens. The writers of the narrative make the point of giving excerpts on both characters, and at least mention the fact that Kaidan is a skilled biotic. The comic itself doesn't go into details about biotics--however!-- it means that we can hopefully anticipate less character melding in DLC. Also, we might see Kaidan use his biotics, if this is how he is introduced. What better way to introduce a character people might not know about than with an awesome cutscene?

The same applies for Ashley, if she is an awesome soldier, then there might be a cutscene for her too.

BioWare was all about cool character introductions in ME2 and in DLC.

Or they could just give Kaidan an assault rifle again.

I hope they do that in the DLC and ME3. Always felt stupid that the alliance marine don't know how to use a rifle (same goes for Jacob).

Fair, enough, but he's a sentinel, first and foremost.  He's a tech expert and biotic.

Liara is also a biotic.  Did we see Liara holding an assault rifle to Vasir?  She knows how to use weapons, but the first weapons biotics use are themselves.  At least, that's my personal opinion.

I couldn't agree more.

What would Kaidan's special ability be I wonder? Maybe he could be the one and only other squad mate with the ability to use Charge? I know it's a Vanguard power, but Kaidan is a hell of a biotic...

How about a combo? Something to make him extra special. Like an electrified Charge?

I love it when he uses neural shock though. Stops charging krogan in their tracks.

WHOA! This thread suddenly came alive after people saw that interactive comic. I for one am not worried. Like Gibbs on that show N.C.I.S. whenever I get a gut feeling more often than not it turns out to be true, and my gut is telling me not to worry. It'll be fine. I'd bet a bottle of Sake on it. ;)

Thanks Jacob <_<

Would love to see what (if any) forum inspired lines would be in a VS DLC
