I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 in Windows XP SP3. The game doesn't
work with it properly. The config utility thinks my video card isn't
fast enough.
After a few minutes of play, the game will freeze.
I can input actions on the mouse and keyboard and nothing will happen,
then about 30 seconds later it will respond. Like if I clicked a menu
button during that time, it will behave as though I had just clicked
the button.
Then a few seconds later it will freeze again, and the cycle continues.
So
far it has only started in non-gameplay screens: menus, dialogue and
pazaak. But one time I tried to keep playing anyway and the freezing
continued into running around and combat. So it may or may not be a
coincidence.
I have the Steam version, in which vertex buffer objects are disabled by default (aka "Dantooine fix").
Other things I have tried with no success:
• Booting Windows without any startup programs.
• Updating drivers
• Updating DirectX
• Setting affinity to run the game on only one core (Core 0).
Here is the rest of my system information:
