But I've had experience almost everywhere else.  I'm looking for a new outlet to enjoy the Fantasy life, and since I've played NWN2 and NWN1 multiple times, I understand the story (not to mention extensive D&D play :P).

I'm just wondering how everyone plays on these online servers.  I understand there are emotes and the chat bar for communication, of course, but are adventures involved?  Are there supported continuities for roleplay?  Are modules created to work like the campaign or is it player run?

I have so many questions and such a need to learn! Not to mention how to join guilds or groups in the multiplayer land.

I only wish I had the toolset -  I used to be a whiz when I owned a PC; shame they don't support Macs for that feature.

There are a lot of different PWs around that cater to varying styles of players, but the RP ones usually allow for adventures, plotlines, developing a character's personality, and so on. My server does for sure, though we don't have a lot of DM available at this time (but enough to get by).

Welcome!

Sea of Dragons is indeed a good place to spend some time at if you are interested in RP.

If you find you are interested in joining a regular group that goes through an adventure "PnP" style - with a regular DM - take a look at the link in my signature and drop me a PM.

Regardless, NWN2 is a good game to be an enthusiast of.  Enjoy your time here! :)

As a more general response, some servers do follow a direct plot while others allow players to drive the story of the server within the setting. I would say the primary source of lore and story on most rp servers is their settings with which players can create/experience adventures. Most likely all of them offer some quests that you can perform, but in general it is usually DM's who are present on most PW RP servers who will run the big story-line quests and this is where player participation really shines as essentially it is the players that drive the quest into a certain direction (unless the dm likes to rail-road ;[ ). Hope this gives you a bit more information, as for the various settings available check the PW section there are pw's that use well established dnd settings and others that use entirely different places not related to dnd, the choice is yours and you by no means have to limit yourself to one world.
