With who? Zevran? Zevran was a horndog who conditioned to go after anything that moved. Warden included, for survival purposes and otherwise. It's hardly forced down your throat.

I guess that's what he meant. Zevran flirts with the player from the start. Male or female.

But the flirting wouldn't have been a problem if Zevran just flirted with the female PC, yes? That's what it sounds like. The bias is what bothers me the most. I would be perfectly alright is people said they felt like Zevran was- No, nevermind, I'm not finishing that sentence...

Can't you guys just say "No" to Zevran?

He stops flirting with you right away.

Ah I see what you're saying - double standards, yes. I personally think it's better to have homosexual flirting in the games of this time and age (when homosexuality is still not fully accepted) be player initiated. Not a big deal to me personally though.

Lol, I must have missed the whole 'zevran getting the jump on you while you bent down to tie your laces' thing. Seriously, the choices were pretty obvious and catered for all.

Yup. Personally I liked Zevran and so I rarely said no, but when I did he just left my PCs alone right away and instead treated them as friends.

Well (Trying to be civil) I'm just worried with all these same sex threads bioware will bite and DA2 will become a gay dating sim.

As opposed to a straight dating sim?

Look, I think it's safe to say you'll never have to worry about any BioWare games becoming a gay dating sim.

Being accomodating to homosexual players and homosexual romance isn't the same as launching DA QUEERFEST.

And if it was I would insist Sten make an appearance in fuchsia armor, it is clearly his color.

That is a very acceptable compromise. Yes, I think people would be less likely to argue over it if they had to initiate the flirting and thus avoid any awkwardness if they wanted to. The only problem, I think, would be that it could possibly dampen the companions characteristics. If an NPC was, for all intents and purposes, bold and upfront, then it seems odd that they wouldn't approach Hawke in that sense if they were interested.

But it's only a minor musing, and I still think your idea is pretty chill.

Seriously?  You think that has enough of a chance of happening that you actually devote cycles to worrying about it?

I'm all for Hawke being able to flirt with whatever consenting adult s/he feels like.  I also have total confidence that DA2 will not become a "gay dating sim."  I sleep really well at night.

I think we can trust Bioware not to kowtow to one fanbase over the other. They seem intent on keeping the balance, and they do a pretty good job of it.

That said, fuchsia armor would be a marvelous match for his Butterfly Rainbow Sword.

I think it's only natural that a hunky hero would attract admiration from both sexes. Even so, some folks might argue that a bit of discrete s/s flirting is catering to a minority and inappropriate, yet in my experience it's the people who get worked up about such things that are in the minority themselves. Is it right to cater to them?

Is that marketting failure or non-gay/pro-gay dominance in gamers?

No, but it is pleasant to make such people shut up. And I was thinking initiating flirting with all possible LIs, regardless of their and your PCs sex. Or is that what you were talking about, too?

IDK, same sex, opposite sex, its funny to me how dating in games are important to people playing. Im all about interactions with characters and moreso with Characters interacting with other characters. Why cant Characters be able to date each other rather than wait for Shepard/hawke to come around? Whatever it shouldnt be a big deal any ways and a lot of the time game dating is blown out of proportion and ends up eating up important dialog. I dont want to have to date someone just to hear an interesting part of them. I disliked that part in Mass Effect, You couldnt get to know someone better without dating say, Jack.

The bottom line is that I hope better friendships is more of an option in DA2 rather than exclusive character dating.

The answer:

Need for Faux-realism and and over-the-top political correctness is racing ahead of immersion.

No. How I meant it was this; I trust Bioware to push peoples boundaries and somewhat out of their comfort zone in some cases, and simultaneously not push so far that it turns into WTFery.

However that could make the player a bit uneasy. First of all he just tried to kill you then second of all he comes out of the gate stronger than Panther musk no matter who is the character. Its bound to make many players uncomfortable regardless of their sexual orientation

Then that's a problem people should have with Zevran's somewhat macabre libido, not his sexuality.
