Hello,

I have Mass Effect  2 on the PC from GamersGate, and its been there since release (I bought pre-release). I have not uninstalled it or even touched it since June (it was disconnected while I went traveling for two months) until now. I played through it twice already and it and the DLC I had all worked fine back in June. However, when I try to start the game now it loads up the auto-run menu as normal and I hit play but then it goes to the first time activation screen. The game IS activated and ran just fine! It does not let me enter my account details (that option disappears after a second or two) nor does it allow me any option of activating it.

I also am unable (unless anyone can ship me a 200ft ethernet cord) possible to get my computer onto the internet (I am currently using my laptop to browse the net and post this).

I am running XP SP3 and exceed the requirements for the game (which shouldn't matter). Anyone know why the hell it thinks it needs to be activated?

Thanks,

I don't know why it would do this, no. But if you're using your laptop to browse right next to it, you can buy Wireless cards and other such devices for a desktop PC to connect wirelessly.

Its not possible even then, and wireless sucks for desktops anyways.  Thankfully I am moving in a few days and will be able to plug it in then. Hopefully the game will work then.

Okay, your problem may come from something specific.

Firstly, can you be more specific/?

More descritions please.

I'm not sure if I can be more specific than "I click 'Play' and the game wants to be activated, even though it is already installed and has no internet connection". However I will wait until I've moved in a couple of days to try again, hopefully having internet again will solve it. Thanks anyways.

Well it works fine once I got internet access again and have moved. I'm a little miffed it wouldn't work without internet despite being installed! (Its not like it could suddenly change from legal purchase to pirated >.> (assuming the drm is at fault))
