When I first picked up ME1 I recently stopped playing Aion, which took me over an hour or so to get the appearance of my character the way I wanted it, so I was fine with choosing the default face for my male canon.

I always go custom for other Shep's male or female, but even then I just get a face code from masseffect2faces.com and do slight tweaks...can't be bothered to make my own nowadays, would rather just get into the game.

Yeah, I always use custom face if they are possible.



I never tried using the default face before, maybe I can give it a try on my next playthrough...

TBH, I have never made a single playthrough with the default Shepard. I always use a custom face.

My Custom Shep is my Canon Paragon and My Custom FemShep is my Canon Renegade



I have 1 Default, but that's just to see alternate scenerios

And i've never understood why people go out and make 10 different shepards. I think its dumb when people do this, i personally have one canon shepard who has my morals and takes the path i want him to, while i have another to just **** around with and screw everyone over. I, however, do not give a **** about this shepard. I find the game a lot more engaging when i'm playing through with MY character, not random ones i created for the hell of it.

Even though my Shepard is female while i'm not, but I pretty much play her as I would react in real life
I had two other femSheps in ME1 but I barely touched those, and in the end I didn't import them into ME2.

Just Talia got imported and I've been playing with her exclusively since I got ME2.

I always thought default Shepard looked weird. I think it's the eyes.
So to answer the question, I don't use default Shep.

Why use the default shepard? Is it just laziness or do you actually like the look, I personally don't like the look of him. What kind of solider has such facial hair, that shows a lack of discipline and default female shep just looks silly.

I've only used the Default shep once, and that was just me grinding an engineer to unlock hacking for a future Infiltrator. I tend to only tweak my canon Shep. Tried playing as Fem!Shep but I just couldn't get into it at all. Kinda killed the immersion for me.

You know what I just wondered ?
If maleShep is based on a model concerning his looks, who is femShep based on ?
Because I don't think the default female shepard looks in any way similar to Jen Hale.

She's made in the character creation tool, shes not based on anyone. Thats why sheploo looks like a real person while default femshep looks more like plastic.

My canon playthrough Shepards are both in my profile albums. I consider the "Rayin" - the ManShep - to be my canon save.



FemShep is the "mirror universe" save, where almost all of the decisions are the opposite.

Never used default male shep since it always seem to look like some psychotic murderer who just got out from prison so no to that always. Using femshep default on my current playthrough, but my "canon" ones are both custom.
