For your "Canon" playthrought, do you use the default shepard?

For those that seem to hate sheploo, is it because you guys are all "I WILL NOT CONFORM!!!" or do you actually not like his look?

Sure, he can make rape faces sometimes, but he is the most real looking shep you can possibly get.

If I wanted to not play an Shooter/RPG, and just shoot, I would play the default. I never play with the default. That's what Halo and Gears Of War are for.

I honestly don't like his look and if rest of the world isn't as real as your Shepard there's no need for Shepard be any different. Which might actually be why I don't like his looks. He's too real.

I would without hesitation use a custom shep IF bioware improved their character creator dramatically. If they made the customs look as real as sheploo, i would be creating custom characters all the time; but at the moment IMO they just seem too plastic.

/agree

There is 2 types of characters in ME. The ones that have realistic face like all your crew in ME2 and the ones who looks like random NPC's and it's the case of custom Shepard

He's ok I guess but I've played with my Custom Shep so much that I've actually placed Meer's voice with that voice that it's just odd hearing it come out of any other face. Also despite Sheploo's graphical advantage, ME's graphics are so good that even customs look better than the vast majority of PCs out there.

Sheploo, I'm actually one of the few people left that don't mind the stereotypical space marine look. I was one of those that petitioned for Cole MacGrath to be redesigned to his old look for Infamous 2. I like continuity, so when I saw the ME trailers, I stuck with default Shep for my playthroughs. Aside from his face being the most realistic looking.

He does look a bit insane during some conversations and cutscenes though, but that adds to the charm of the game for me.

The default male shepard is actually pretty close to what I like, so I often use that. But my main is a femshep, Shana, who's right below here.

Image IPB

Hale's voice fits her perfectly, and I absolutely love it how rare it is to get an exotic fem protagonist like her in any game in general.

I have two canon play throughs (one paragon, one renegade) thru ME1 and 2. Both are male default Shep.

I have a "Shepard dies" save as Barack the Shepard where I used a code for Sheps face.

EDIT:
I posted the video in a playlist on youtube. It's in the bar on the right:

I do prefer the standard Shepard - or "Sheploo", funny nickname by the way *gg* - because:

1. the realistic look... most of the time during dialogues you look into your Shepard's face... although there are many NPCs who don't look quite believeable, there are still some looking quite realistic.

2. I tried to make up some custom Shep's, but during gameplay I always found "things" which disturbed me but which I failed to recognize during character-creation... the 3D-model of a existing human beeing makes this kind of thinking obsolete... the person looks like it does and - so do I think - you just accept that fact. Though I do think, that Mark Vanderloo's Appearance is quite fitting into this role and charakter.

3. The mimic's with Sheploo are very strong. I admit his smile looks a little bit silly, but when he stirrs down an opponent with more than a hint of anger... priceless.

4. I would even cheer if Vanderloo would play Shepard in the movie, rather than that Lost-Guy. Though I do hope they come up with a more unknown guy. Not female. Shep's a guy, preriod. ;)
