unfortunate. DA2 seems shorter.

I wouldn't have minded Dragon Age: Origins itself being shorter, to be honest. I've still got nightmares about Deep Roads and the Fade, they've essentially been the blocks that prevented me from making more than 3-4 playthrough (same with my friends, too).

I actually don't mind the Deep Roads since there is quite a bit you can do in it (up until you leave for, whatever it is past the Legion of the Dead dudes, then yeah it drags).  But I agree totally on the Fade.  Every single time I get there my brain just turns off and I become catatonic.

I did infact enjoy the fade and the deep roads (altho deep roads i still kinda like) the first time around, but as many others it wasnt that fun the next time around. But isnt it always like that, everytime you play a game for the second or third time something gets "boring or very annoying" (?).

As to DA2 "only" being 20-30 hours, well imo that does seem like a rather large step down from the 50 hours promo for DAO. One can only hope the preview got it wrong and thouse 30 hours is without side-quests and dialog in the mix?. =d

I'm going to speculate that given the shorter development time that they have less areas to stock up on. The original DA went through quite a bit before it made it out, hopefully much of that content was repurposed into the final product.

That may end up being DA 2's biggest downfall however, will be its length. We are going to have to wait and see. While I normally would say that Length doesn't matter as long as it packs punch, from what I have seen of games in the genre however it often takes a bit for it to spread its legs. Even if some tedium is required.
