I can never get enough of Bioware games, so 20-30 hours is like a blink in the universe for me.scootermcgaffin wrote...
I would have to assume I'll be done with it by then, so...yes?
I imagine you're not the type who replays the games.

Will there be DLC for Dragon Age 2? Absolutely, they’re already talking about two years of DLC content for the game.
Getting the main game out as soon as possible, then expanding it with DLC.
Seems like that's the plan...
Thats what I've been thinking all along. They will probably release more DLC for DA 2 than they did with Origins.

I replay more than a few times, actually. I played through DA:O on all difficulties, in fact, before I uninstalled it the first time. Honestly, that's another good thing about the shorter length. It's easier to go through a twenty hour game multiple times than it is a fifty+ hour game.Dynamomark wrote...

Original DA was reported at 80+ hours - it was actually said so by developer on the old boards.
No. Initial media articles mentioned the main game took 30-40 hours. The forum was in uproar. I will track down the thread, because this is selective memory, just like the whole "origins were well received, or DA wasn't criticized for failing to be like BG2" memes floating around.

Ferelden. We even heard that Fade could also return."
Don't ever change, GDN.

Sounds good apart for the 20 to 30 hours long.
Anything under 40 to 50 hours long is not going to hold my interest for long.

This is not to say that DA is going to be short, by any means. The
focus is on content, for sure. All I'm saying is that if your
expectations run to thinking that the amount of content in BG2 is or
should be the norm that you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
BG2 is fine and all (I reserve a warm little place in my black, black
heart for it, as well) but even had we the capability I'm not sure we'd
want to make a game as long again. I'm sure y'all appreciated the effort
that went into it, but even as we were doing it we recognized that it
was excessively indulgent.
The post then go on about how BG2 was 80 hours, and DA will never be 80 hours, maybe 50-60hrs if we are lucky.
Yet here people are, talking about their 80 hour playthroughs, and how they will never see those again.
You have other claims by posters like:
My only hope is that DAO is longer than ME. I'm not going to lie, I
miss the long and epic games like BG2. Everything seemed alive. Your
companions talked to one another, argued, spoke to you on topic about
what was going on, discussed how they felt about you and what you were
doing, etc. throughout...
So I would refraim from making judgements before we actually get more feedback on the game closer to release.

Seriously-that short game is a joke for an RPG.

It always amazes me how often people confuse quantity with quality.
I play RPG for immersion and being able to escape reality-the longer it lasts the better.

Very positive article from GDN.A major change in Dragon Age 2 is the ability tree. Now instead of a single ability tree there’s a structure of multiple trees. So you are never locked out of getting a ability and you now don’t need to have a long line of abilities you’ll never use. They’ve also implemented ability upgrades so for example if you have one you really like and use a lot, you can give it a boost a couple times to make it even stronger and bigger. This will better allow you to customize the character to your gameplay style and desires.
Leveling up and attributes are still there in the same form as in DA but are applied a bit faster which is part of the new implementation of this ability tree structure.
Plus, each ally in your party has specific skills and so you can give control of a situation over to them and let them handle it in their own special way via these dialogs.
They say 20-30 hours, or more if you do some side content, and stated it’s "Mass Effect 2 length."

so was it worth it, gamers daily news? how many mass effect 2 and dragonage 2 t-shirts did it take for that positive review?

Here's a wild out there kind of thought -- perhaps, the reviewer happened to like the DA2 demo.
I know -- not conspiracy theory enough and doesn't require pyramids or the wearing of tinfoil hats, but it is possible that people actually like the changes to gameplay.

Biowear buys out all it's reviewers, its the only way they get such positive reviews. either that or reviewers don't know the word review and simply put the word ''praise'' in its place.

I
Never trust game reviewers-most of them are associated with the producers in some way.

judging from what I've read on the Internet over the course of the past month, apparently they didn't pay enough
