So it seems that now we are not only forced to be a obnoxious character called Hawke, without any choice regarding his race, name, history. Now it is getting even worse-we aren't even allowed to decide his relationships and are thrown into being forced to love and grief for his family members.

That's really dissapointing-I hoped I could at least direct my character. In addition-the forced feelings for some annoying sister seem irritating. As a single childre player I hope I can get to kill her, or give her away to Chantry, but from the looks of it, we will have to loooooveeee her, because Hawke is not our character but Bioware's.

It's almost as terrible as if they had gone with some kind of human noble, whose entire family was murdered by a different noble and you were forced to react with horror and grief as that entire family was slaughtered.

Garbage, right? I bet they'd even top it off with the scene of a dead kid. Maybe a cousin or a nephew.

You might have missed the numerous threads how many players didn't like playing the rather dislikeable humans.

Lucky for you we didn't get a dwarf who cared for his sister or an elf whose cousin was raped. Only the detestable humans had families.

Worst of all, they could have gone with a some kind of magic based speciality where you were forced into having a friend! Travesty, all of them.

Is this the part where we talk about how BG made you care about Gorion and Imoen, or are we saving that for later in the thread?

In my elf playthrough I was basically a giant sell-out who took Vaughans deal and screwed over elves whenever I got the chance. Independence/respect for the alienage? LOL! Title and riches please!

Sympathy for Shianni? PFFT. No one wakes me up early with beer-breath and gets away with it!

Right, DA 2 is **** because in real life you choose your family too. Don't you remember the form you filed out before birth? It spared me the irritation of a brother or sister. Sadly I couldn't demand that I have no mother or father at all. I wanted to be created by nature itself. I am still a little troubled and feel uneasy because of that. This is why I like games with no story or NPCs at all. There you wonderfully alone and no feelings attached to anyone. Great. Makes it all feel so realistic and full of life!

His continuing and un-shakeable belief that DA2 will be terrible, and his unending need to tell everyone about it, rather than just ignore it altogether like you would any other piece of any media forthcoming, of which you didn't like the look.

I was going to write a counter argument. But then I realised it was Kordaris, so I just gave up. The one legitimate gripe he has is the lack of race. The rest (name, history, friends and family) was in DA:O too. But no, it's Kordaris. He's not going to change his mind. He can't play as as an elf, so the game will suck.

We get it Kordaris, you don't like DA2. If you're so convinced its going to be a piece of crap... why are you even still here?

He has made petulance into an art form and brought unforseen grace to moaning.

I'm not so sure about grace but his persistance to find something to complain about is an inspiration to us all.

Now you're just finding things to complain about for the sake of it.

As others have pointed out, there were similar things "forced" on you in Origins as well.  So unless you hated Origins as well -- in which case, why would you even follow the development of the sequel to a game you disliked -- then I think you're just clutching at straws in order to have something to complain about.

There should be a separate forum for the people who are just bent on hating DA2, and when they're all in it perhaps it could be floated out to sea or something.

I cant fully remember about BG 1, It´s been some time since I last played it. But you werent forced to "love" or "care" about Imoen in BG 2.

Ps: Pretty sure you werent forced in BG 1 either, since I remember kicking here out of my party everytime. I was young when BG 1 Launched, so I always soloed the game with a mage, It was later in time when I understood the value of a good story and good companions =) .
