My "little" brother has also grown freakishly tall. Tell me, do you remember an incident around 1994 that involved a toy truck being judiciously thrown at your forehead (by a well-meaning individual who is most definitely not me) causing a big bruise and a minor blackout?
[If you do remember this incident, you are definitely not my little brother as he still represses that memory like the good lad he is.]
If only the things thrown at me were as soft as a toy truck... Books (hardcover kind and thick) dishes, porcelain figures (very sharp and pointy) frying pans, high heels (that one hurt) cast iron frying pans, and there was this one time my mother broke a remote controll on my forehead then got angry because I broke the remote controll.

I guess he does have other uses then being one of our local clowns.

I just did. Mom told me to tell you that she still loves you, and hopes that you take some medication for that "gay disease" that is catching on nowadays because Obama is a socialist.!!
Also a Muslim. He posts here, but I'm not allowed to tell you who. I can say he usually plays dwarves.
Its Dave From Canada isn't it!! That proves it. I knew Obama wasn't a real American.
Also, Kordaris is Joe Biden.

Back on topic: Hawkes family seems great so far. Really liking what I've seen of Bethany so far. Too bad she's a sibling.

Duh, but we get to shape how that character develops. Also, if you're so psychologically weak that you would actually feel compelled to love/hate someone by an outside force then I'd say you need to grow a backbone, srsly.Kordaris wrote...
So it seems that now we are not only forced to be a obnoxious character called Hawke, without any choice regarding his race, name, history. Now it is getting even worse-we aren't even allowed to decide his relationships and are thrown into being forced to love and grief for his family members.
That's really dissapointing-I hoped I could at least direct my character. In addition-the forced feelings for some annoying sister seem irritating. As a single childre player I hope I can get to kill her, or give her away to Chantry, but from the looks of it, we will have to loooooveeee her, because Hawke is not our character but Bioware's.

I don't get it? You want us to have a choice to hate our familly? Our family who takes care of us, feeds us, loves us and you want a choice to hate them? We may control the PC. But if the NPC is nice, it's natural and logical that we are nice back, even if you are evil you still love your family (Jon Irenicus/Bodih)

First of all its the "Hawke peasant" family not mine. Anyway there are numerous examples of family members killing each other-that's realistic. Third of all the very concept of sibling to me is repulsive and as such I would like to roleplay my reaction to it.simfamSP wrote...

And who's to say you can't act like an ass to Bethany? You could be a jerk to everyone in your DA:O party, so why do you assume it'll be different with her?

That's a bit...well, for lack of a better word, cold... I love roleplaying, but even if I am an evil b*stard I'm not a dick to my relatives. Anytwayyou can be a Dick to them in origins. Not something as serious as murder but you can be a bit of a b*stard
I stand by Bioware's choice, since it's organic. Not everything has to be by the rule Role-playing even if it is an RPG. A true RPG, and I mean TRUE would have more than just 5 choices, it would probably have twenty...but David is just one man

Woah that sounds horrible.
Why would you break a remote control that way! D:
On a serious note, Kordaris's threads should be treated in the same way you would treat a flock of sheep riding mini-tricycles. Revel in the ridiculousness, people.

You're not forced to love your family. That said, they are your family and we aren't providing you the option to just go "pfft, whatever, you're on your own." -- just as you couldn't decide you didn't want to be a Grey Warden and, say, run off to Antiva. We also don't let you play a psychotic sociopath or any number of other things-- including an elf, this time anyhow. Them's the breaks.

Too bad. Some games allow you to make controversial gaming choices and it enriches your gaming experience in my view. Of course this might affect the goal of millions of sales, so perhaps that's an influence as well.We also don't let you play a psychotic sociopath
Female Elf, Male Elf, Male Dwarf, Female Dwarf to be exact. Not counting the choices of background even. And to think they were people actually who hoped that Origins will be expanded even more with more consequences in the game regarding your background....or any number of other things-- including an elf, this time anyhow

You have to rescue her? I'm pretty sure she's a mage. Maybe you'll have to, but you don't know that yet. So far you're just escaping--with her help.

You couldn't be a complete psychopath in Origins either. You could do some pretty evil things, but there had to be reasons, and it was a dark heroic fantasy.

Indeed. They'll have to be satisfied with another quality adventure in the Dragon Age world.Kordaris wrote...

I guess bioWare doesn't want us to have a GTA experience in DA2? SHAME and here I was getting all excited. I guess as long as I can have the GTA experience with Darkspawn no harm done. You should give us a hoard options like in HAlo only with DA 2. Only with a the single player. Kill as many Darkspawn as possible. I mean this would be the closes I could get to a sociopathic Character feeling right?

Depends on what you mean by quality. For me it would be rich dialogue, lenght of gameplay, world building, choices of character. Of course for others it means horns on Qunari or Ninja combat leaps, simple dialouge lines. Funny how quality can change from a perspective of one person to another.David Gaider wrote...

How do you know that Bethany will be obnoxious? Do you have advance copies of the game and if you do I will tell you now that you better share it or there will be blood! (My toy truck throwing tendencies are not only limited to family members).
Planescape Torment, which is perhaps one of the best RPGs of all time didn't allow you to choose who you were, and it still stayed awesome. BG2 didn't let you be an elf, dwarf etc and also gave you Imoen. In KOTOR you couldn't be anything but Revan.
I don't dispute your right to rage, though I do question the logic you use when you rage.

Qunari having horns at least makes sense when you consider ogres. Ninja combat leaps is no more unrealistic than a war cry literally knocking a knight dressed in plate armor off their feet. And we've seen nothing indicating the dialogue is simple (assuming by "simple" you mean "stupid"). The paraphrases existed in ME, too, a game that you hold up as a good example in gaming.
