Planescape Torment, which is perhaps one of the best RPGs of all time didn't allow you to choose who you were, and it still stayed awesome. BG2 didn't let you be an elf, dwarf etc and also gave you Imoen. In KOTOR you couldn't be anything but Revan.

Ok, first off, you could be an elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling, half-orc or half-elf in Baldur's Gate 2.  Even though you were the Bhaalspawn.

Second, I am really growing tired of everyone quoting PST being one of the best RPGs of all time constantly.  I've tried to play the game 3 times and it bores me.  Largely because I don't get to make my character.  Though also because it's pacing is as quick as molasses flows in the dead of winter during a blizzard.  So it being "awesome" is a matter of taste - it sold poorly, is remembered reverently by a select few, and was critically acclaimed by the people who play so many games that anything strange and unusual that is done reasonable well always stands out for them.

I loved Imoen.  But there were plenty of people who hated her.

Sure, but Kordy usually hates ME2 and DA2 for being so consolized and modern and dumbed down and EXTREME, well, I'm just taking an example from one of BioWare's oldest and most popular games.

Only if it is done in a mocking, self-serving way. To take anything he says seriously is an exercise in futility that doesn't bring back any positive dividends (i.e the lolz).

I never liked her, and yes, she was irritating.

And yet it's one of their oldest and most popular games, a traditional RPG by your sense of the word and therefore superior. And, oh yeah, you were forced to save her.

I have to make carefull choices with the money parents give me, so no I will choose some other expense.

Oh, so this is the part where you subtly hint you're a young child to gain a reaction about your immature viewpoint? Sorry, but you just lost the troll game. Trolls aren't supposed to be that obvious. Glaringly simple-minded, sure, but you had that covered.

Female Elf, Male Elf, Male Dwarf, Female Dwarf to be exact. Not counting the choices of background even. And to think they were people actually who hoped that Origins will be expanded even more with more consequences in the game regarding your background....

Indeed. They'll have to be satisfied with another quality adventure in the Dragon Age world.

Don't worry man, supply and demand, if cRPG declines from roots and enough peeps want old school, quality old school will come in time.

OP doesn't like storytelling techniques which casts you as a person with a specific point of view and being driven by those towards the choices and the story you will shape.



OP doesn't like any Bioware games or any 3rd or 1st person framed stories in general it seems.

Huh? You must missed at least two threads about previous RPG experience. I started waaay back in the eighties with tabletop DnD,Warhammer, early cRPG games like Darksun, Ravenloft on PC later, I am around 30years old RPG gamer(never concealed my age).
