I'm a little concerned that something of this caliber is coming out a few short weeks after it is announced. Hopefully, it has a year or so of work behind it. I'm also a little concerned that such a huge non-canon event is DLC.

We have been working on Witch Hunt for more than a few weeks, dont worry :D

It just feels like this is the conclusion the story of men who romanced Morrigan.

Consider this:

If you're looking on this only from the romance perspective, out of all the romances in Dragon Age Morrigan's is the only one you never get any personal closure on. Not even a little bit. I understand wanting more from Alistair, Zevran and Leliana but you do at least get something from them... whereas from Morrigan you get nothing (albeit for very good reasons).

So for those men who romanced Morrigan, you might want to cut them some slack.

That said, that's not the only reason to do this DLC-- I would think many people would be curious as to what the future holds regarding Morrigan. And, yes, it takes all the various ending states of Origins into account. And, yes, in case anyone's wondering I wrote the Morrigan part.

I hate to be cynical, but I suppose this means we can no longer believe a word BW says.  Apologies to Chris as he is just the messanger.

Ha.

See, this is why we should never tell you guys anything-- plans change all the time, but you take them as instant promises.

Mind you, then you'd complain about us not involving the community enough and telling you more.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Posted Image

I agree. Give us something more than a possible Antivan showdown or we just disappear. Zevran was such a rich character and the story just fell flat after the Archdemon. They did not even think to release the love letters until this last patch (which had already been done through mods on the PC). Something to better end the story they wrote so well that so many got attached to.

My original point was that the other romances at least got to talk to their romances after the final battle. You got some wrap-up. Maybe you want more, sure... more more more. Why not? But Morrigan fans didn't get anything.

And, incidentally, this isn't the "Morrigan romance DLC" you're perhaps picturing. Morrigan's mystery affects all the Wardens in a way-- some certainly more personally pertinent than others. Regardless, this is a way to wrap things up.

Could we have done other party-focused stories? Sure, tons. I love Zevran, so why not? There's a million things we could do, but we're stopping the Origins train here with this particular tale-- and I think it's an appropriate place to end, myself, considering all that Morrigan represents.

Wait.....they are making DLC for Morrigan.......doesn't this basically just mean they are jipping her story in order to move on?

Who says that Morrigan's story ends with the DLC? Posted Image

I am starting to hate coming on these forums. Everytime I come on I get teased!

Isn't that precisely why you keep coming back?

Man, this thread has me all over the place. I don't know if I should be nerdgasming, terrified, surprised, or worried. Or some of each.

You say that as if you weren't already aware that we writers exist on your tears.

Silly man.  Posted Image

You know, to feed the writer's tear quota, I'll guess this DLC will end with a glorious happy ending only to have it all be a dream, with the Warden trapped in the Fade by a Desire Demon, blissfully unaware of his eternal entrapment. Good enough for the tear quota, Gaider?:crying:

What are you doing! Don't give them any ideas! Banish that vile thought! Banish! BANISH!

What's really funny is that this idea did come up in the writer's pit. Then we laughed and laughed and laughed.

And then we said, "Okay, no, seriously..."

I haven't read the entire thread so this may have been mentioned but doesn't the creature at 0:40 look like a strider from DA 2?

It is a Strider from DA2.

Good catch.  Similar to Golems of Amgarrak, WH allows you to encounter a DA2 creature for the first time.

A great deal of effort went into figuring out what kind of relationship the warden had with Morrigan so that Witch Hunt can react to it. It is not using the same scripting logic as Awakening, and won't have the same bugs.

That said, it's a complicated relationship. In some cases there isn't any direct way to track exactly what happened, and we have to rely on proxy information to make a good guess. As such, I can't guarantee that there won't be any bugs, but efforts were made and hopefuly any issues will be minor.

So is it possible for you guys to confirm if the Dog is OUR Dog or not?

It is, and it isn't. Due to technical limitations, we were unable to import the actual dog creature. There is a popup to name dog, and dog's equipment and stats are generic, much like Oghren in Awakening. You can use a respec tome and customize him however you want.

From a story perspective, if you recruited dog, this is your dog. If you didn't, this is a different dog you picked up sometime later. There's a codex entry for each version respectively.
