Consider this:

If you're looking on this only from the romance perspective, out of all the romances in Dragon Age Morrigan's is the only one you never get any personal closure on. Not even a little bit. I understand wanting more from Alistair, Zevran and Leliana but you do at least get something from them... whereas from Morrigan you get nothing (albeit for very good reasons).

So for those men who romanced Morrigan, you might want to cut them some slack.

No, I understand that. I always felt bad for the Morrigan guys, with her leaving the way she did. But as a conclusion to the Warden's story, I would like to see it finished for everyone, not just Morrigan. Their lives acknowledged. I mean, this is taking me as a surprise--I was expecting two years of DLC, and we suddenly find out that this is the end--it does feel as if the other Wardens are ending early.

That said, that's not the only reason to do this DLC-- I would think many people would be curious as to what the future holds regarding Morrigan. And, yes, it takes all the various ending states of Origins into account. And, yes, in case anyone's wondering I wrote the Morrigan part.

I don't really know what that means...does it mean you get a Leliana letter like (well, it wasn't actually there) in Awakening, or the game actually features the character?

Mostly, by my way of thinking, this is a conclusion for the Warden's story, and it's concluding with Morrigan. If you ever play DAO after this DLC comes out, then the story ends with whatever concerns Morrigan and the Warden. After it comes out, it's not the "long-awaited end", it's simply the end...

I won't weep or anything that this is how it goes, but while Morrimancers never got closure at the end of the game, they got the same amount of content. Now they get closure and a DLC. Maybe it would feel less weird if a Liara DLC wasn't coming out the exact same day...

Maybe I shouldn't be voicing my concerns in terms of romance. All I mean is that I would like to see the actual conclusion of the story happen for all Wardens, not just for people who romanced Morrigan. I'm not saying that won't happen, but that I would like for it to be there. I imagine they'll get some sort of closure for their characters; I simply want to see something similar.

I'm sorry if I went on, but I don't exactly have the words to voice what I'm feeling. It's not anger, or resentment, or betrayal or anything that melodramatic, it's just hesitation. I'm happy, I am, and I'm definitely excited. :D

Does this mean ultimate sacrifice endings are supported? How will it be handled? What kind of closure will players get who refused her ritual? Will importing an Orlesian Warden from Awakenings assume the US took place?

I'm still rather peeved even now at the way the US ending, probably the most epic ending I've experienced in a game, was scrubbed out in Awakenings. I'm just a bit concerned this DLC will make the god bady canon.

Yes, Witch Hunt is the final DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, and imo a great send off to an awesome game.

While I agree this is probably the biggest "story line" hole needing plugged, I can't help but notice that the two female love interest characters (Leliana and Morrigan) get their own DLC (within the canon storyline or no), while those of us who preferred the male characters (Zevran and Alistair) get nothing.  Good to know what the focus is here, and it's not on those of us who don't like romancing crazy female apostates or religious fanatics.  Posted Image

I'm not going to scream or condemn BioWare to eternity in the Dark City, but you'll have to forgive me if I'm more than a little disappointed...

Yeah, I'm absolutely looking forward to this DLC more then Dragon Age 2. I'm sure Dragon Age 2 will be great, but this DLC is personal. It concludes Dragon Age Origins and that is a big thing...

Guys... about everyone complaining about their other romances not being concluded... Zevran, Alistair & Leliana are not getting DLC about after Origins, because they can die in Origins. That would be a pretty big whole don't you think? Plus Zevran and Leliana send you a letter in Awakening, and they are mentioned in Epilogues... Alistair may have married you, or married Anora... and he could become king, banished, or killed. Leliana got a prologue type DLC because her backstory was the most interesting. And what about your other companions... just because you had sex that makes it more important to get a DLC then Shale for example? Morrigan is the last plot whole that needs plugged, that's the reality of the situation. Everything else has been tied up except for this.

Well, although that 'you get nothing from romancing Morrigan' part sounds  exaggerated
- she learns that love isn't a weakness - and female wardens are able to teach her the
value of friendship - both experiences are something my wardens treasured.

- there may be a perfectly good reason why it would be wise to wave any emotional
bonds to her goodbye...

...ever wondered why fantasy rpg dragons often have
yellow, golden or amber colored eyes, hm?

Maybe Morrigan didn't need another human form because the one we know sufficed
for a shapeshifted dragon to manipulate the humanoids
And maybe, just maybe Flemeth gave up her shapeshift for combat in Morrigan's
quest and revealed her true form...? ;)

Just some thoughts - I neither place nor accept bets on it :D

Totally unexpected and completely awesome. I'm hoping for a lot of dialogue and story, I don't care about killing more darkspawn or golems. Thanks Bioware!

Waaaaay more excited for this DLC than DA2. I just hope there is the possibility of a happy ending here and its not all predetermined doom and gloom.

Kind of neat that we'll be getting Dog back it seems and also going up against some Striders by the look of it. I'm wondering how big of a role Morrigan actually plays in the DLC itself though- are we going to be spending most of the time looking for her only to get one cutscene with her at the end (likely) or will we meet up with her early on and have her available as a party member (doubtful)?

Man..this is amazing news. I'm sad, happy and relieved all at the same time

Relieved - no more $$$ to pay after this dlc

Happy - It's an amazin choice for a conclusion to the story of Dragon Age: Origins.

Sad - Well, If it's the conclusion to the actual story of the grey warden..I'm really gonna miss all this..
I never connected to the PC in ANY other RPG like I did with my Grey Warden..not even Commander Shephard :L
It's upsettin to see him go, but you know..everythin ends..

Thing is though, what I don't get..is - your leaving a 6 month gap in between witch hunt release and DA2 release...what the hell do you plan to do to keep the fans interested and entertained? releasing concept arts, vids and such for DA2 is all well and good..but we NEED to actually play to stay interested! I'm sorry, but I think this should be the last DLC BUT we should get an expansion pack to fill the 6 month gap..otherwise I bet you will lose some interest. I sure as hell don't find myself playing DA:O over and over for 6 months, when ive completed it and all of its current DLCs several times already. I know the game inside out, there is really nothing to do in the game anymore for me.

Please, BioWare, give us an expansion to fill the gap, and go out with a bang.

Well that's pretty bloody annoying. I suppose we shall have to remember this when you promise 2 years of DLC for DA2.

Anyway, this DLC looks great. Bloody shame it's the last one, as there's still things I'd like to explore in Ferelden.

From a personal perspective, I find it ironic that considering all the furor about not having promotions for the female hawk (ladyhawk :) ), that the only 2 character DLC's we received were for our sexy women. Again, catering to the male audience, and just carrying us girls along for the ride. Zevran, Sten, Alistair, Loghain were all terribly fascinating characters who really had much more to tell (and if a past scenario worked for Lei, why not Zev?). . . but they chose the two pretty ladies and major male love interests. (Yes, I know Lei swings both ways, but she was still guy-worthy).

This and this!

*sigh* This is exactly how I feel... It's a bloody shame, I tell you. There are still so many great stories to be told... Like Darkannex pointed out, Zev, Sten, Ali and Loghain all missed out on wonderful stories being told about them or starring them. Ah, I had a dream... it was about a Loghain DLC that added to the main game, expanded on his story, the interactions, perhaps even introduced a romance option for the Loghain fans out there.  You get him as a companion towards the end of the game and, unless you left some side-quests specifically until after the Landsmeet, the time you get to spend with him, getting to know him is rather brief.

Although, to be fair, I suppose he WAS focussed on somewhat in RtO, made an appearance in Awakening as well, just as Ali did.  But that still leaves Sten, Shale and... *gasp* Zev.

Really looking forward to this, although I really wasn't expecting it so soon. I'd love a happy ending but this is Morrigan...

I wonder also what would happen if you were to import a character that hadn't romanced Morrigan, regardless of whether or not they took part in/or allowed the Dark Ritual. If they were to hear Morrigan was up to something in the Korcari Wilds surely they'd want to find out? Forgive me if this has been answered earlier.

I agree JusticarDoom. Something else from Bioware during that time would be really good to focus on. I'm not sure what they have planned but I know I'm going to play other games for the duration. I have a good bit of stuff pre-ordered and a new MMO to play.

So is this a 100% brand new DLC then? We aren't just going to get reused locations from Origins/Awakenings?

The past scenario only worked for Leliana because they altered her past (or, more accurately, had her tell a very altered version of her past). An Alistair DLC might have been better than either Leliana or Zevran, actually, given that he grew up in Ferelden and they wouldn't have had to change his backstory to accomodate reusing the areas.

Not that LS wasn't a blast to play, mind you.

Man I could just see it now.

(My warden starts walking in to where Morrigan is after having been abandoned in DA:O.)

Morrigan looks over to him in complete shock as he says, "I told you I would find you.  I would hope she would still love him enough to hug him or something, and hopefully not be too cold.

I half-agree.  My first thought when I read about this DLC (it's been about five minutes, I just found out) was "Now I need to make a new character that romances Morrigan!"  After a few moments, though, I thought "Now I need to make a new character that romances Morrigan..."  By offering a payoff for Morrigan romances, there is just a greater gain for romancing her than anyone else.

I also agree that I would have liked a better send off to our Wardens.  I really wanted to somehow experience our Warden's calling, though I suppose our characters would either have to age, be experiencing their callings early, or somehow not age for thirty years.  Even if it was just another difficult dungeon a la GoA (which I know wouldn't please the pure role players, but I enjoy a challenge equally as much as role playing) I was greatly hoping for something like that.

That said, on my recent playthrough, I played a pragmatic female human warrior who coerced Alistair to perform the Dark Ritual, even though she was very wary of Morrigan (pragmatism dictates keeping the soon to be King and Queen alive, however).  I think it makes perfect sense that even though there was no romance involved, she would definitely care about the god-baby that she had reluctantly given to Morrigan, and thus I look forward to finishing that DLC.

Most importantly, though, I look forward to this DLC because it's just good literature.  Golems of Amgarrak, while a challenge, didn't really have a deep story.  I would argue that any new storyline, no matter how great, pales in comparison to tying up these loose ends in your character's past, especially one revolving around intricate character development.

Awesome! Both Liara and Morrigan's DLCs available in the same day, it rocks.

P.s. I just hope it won't be unavailable in Czech Republic "due to technical reasons", too.
