I hope you can import your US'ed Warden. Haunting never looked so good.

But elven ghosts are so clichéd!  :wizard:

Actually, I would have played Awakening as the Orlesian Warden if my Ultimate Sacrifice ending (which I got once I realised who I needed to leave at the gates of Denerim) could have been reflected in the game.  But it's resurrection or bust.

The summary of the Witch Hunt DLC mentions that we can create a new high-level character. Will this new character allow us to play the DLC as if we had done the conception ritual with Morrigan?

With both my characters, I couldn't bring myself to help conceive a reincarnated god, but I'm still curious how the story unfolds. If it comes to it, I suppose I could play through the game again.

Why does it have to be crappy? Overlord for ME2 was better than half the stuff in the main game, so clearly DLC does not equal crap.

then there's the fact that almost all story driven dlc for me2 were far better than the da:o counterparts^^

Yes the rest of you wont get a DLC about Zevran, Leliana or Alistair. You all got some kind of closure at the end of Origins, which the people who romanced Morrigan didnt.

Your lucky BioWare didnt decide to make DA2 about Morrigan, Flemeth and the god baby. Which they could of easily done. Be thankful its just a DLC if you hate her so much.

AND BEFORE YOU START RANTING. BioWare could of made the god baby a canon for DA2, even if you refused the DR.

Did you miss the part in the very post you quoted where I said Morrigan was like a sister to my female Warden? Evidently. You also missed the part where I'm happy to have this DLC.

In any case, it depends on your definition of closure. The end of DAO was not closure--it said right there, the adventures would continue. Alistair would only travel with you "for a time". Zevran, "for a time". Leliana, "for a time". At the end of Awakening you are supposed to up and mysteriously vanish. This DLC will probably tell you why, but the thing is, that's not really closure. There are still things hanging.

We would like a send-off, nothing more. Just a cutscene at the end of the game of you traveling off to wherever with your love interest, or leaving them behind, or saying good-bye to Oghren or something, who knows. Just something worthy of a Warden who did not romance Morrigan; something that feels just as satisfying, that we are saying good-bye to this character and it doesn't feel cheapened or lessened.

Also, and I said this earlier, if you play DAO after this DLC comes out, there is no "loose ends" to be tied up. You know what happens with Morrigan and your Warden. You know there is closure. You get your own entire DLC for it. You will get it. Many of us won't feel the same.

Again, I'm not angry, or bitter, or betrayed, I'm just hesitant.

Good I'm glad your not bitter.

I hate to be cynical, but I suppose this means we can no longer believe a word BW says.  Apologies to Chris as he is just the messanger.

Ha.

See, this is why we should never tell you guys anything-- plans change all the time, but you take them as instant promises.

Mind you, then you'd complain about us not involving the community enough and telling you more.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Posted Image

Exactly!  This is what I meant in my reply to Chris.  You guys should know by now to be careful what you tell us and how you word it.  It's one thing to say something like, "We'd sure like to be able to provide you with a couple years' worth of DLCs/expansions.  We'll see if we can do that. "  That would leave me thinking that there is a possibility that I might be seeing more of the Origins story.  Then if it didn't work out ... I'd be mildly disappointed.

But when it's announced several times and said recently that there will be 2 years of Origins dlcs (and damn, I wish I could find those posts because I'll feel pretty silly if the statements were more like what I said above), that leaves me feeling a little bit more than disappointed.  That leaves me feeling like some of you are saying things that you're not prepared to back up.  I know crap happens, and plans don't always work out.  But if you don't tell that stuff to us like it is fact, the less time you'll need to spend wearing that uncomfortable flame-proof armor.  And if  you have to break the news to your fans that things didn't work out, don't do it in a smug and snarky  manner like you are enjoying yourself.  <-- that was directed at Chris, not David.

I agree. Give us something more than a possible Antivan showdown or we just disappear. Zevran was such a rich character and the story just fell flat after the Archdemon. They did not even think to release the love letters until this last patch (which had already been done through mods on the PC). Something to better end the story they wrote so well that so many got attached to.

My original point was that the other romances at least got to talk to their romances after the final battle. You got some wrap-up. Maybe you want more, sure... more more more. Why not? But Morrigan fans didn't get anything.

And, incidentally, this isn't the "Morrigan romance DLC" you're perhaps picturing. Morrigan's mystery affects all the Wardens in a way-- some certainly more personally pertinent than others. Regardless, this is a way to wrap things up.

Could we have done other party-focused stories? Sure, tons. I love Zevran, so why not? There's a million things we could do, but we're stopping the Origins train here with this particular tale-- and I think it's an appropriate place to end, myself, considering all that Morrigan represents.

I totally get that. I am just a little sad. Like so many others I never had gotten this far into any game and I will continue replaying Origins to my hearts content and make up my own end storys as I have been. I loved Morrigan in my playthroughs and do not have a problem with her DLC per say. Just being wistful.

I have a question that I need help on in regards to this DLC and DA:2 for that matter. I have so many Wardens that I have forgotten who did what at this point. I know that only 1 god baby exists in all may games but I can't remember which one it was. Is there an easy way for me to figure out who did what? I know I convinced Alistair to do the deed so I can't even narrow it down to male vs female wardens.

In ME2 for the Liara DLC I will simply have to load up the end game save and look on my desk. If her picture is there, she is my LI so I play that one. Anything similar in DA:O that I have forgotten about? I really don't want to replay the final battle and watch the epilogues over and over again to pick the right Warden.

Thanks for the help.

The wording on the DLC announcement makes me wonder too. It sounds like they're tying up one of the last big mysteries of the Origins storyline (good thing!) but what I'm wondering is if DLC and expansions are necessarily considered part of the "Origins storyline" - things like Golems of Amgarrak or Awakening that further the Warden. Is Awakening, for instance, a storyline of its own as part of the Warden's story, or was it technically a part of the Origins story?
I'm assuming we can still expect more DLC - they promised two years of DLC to go with Origins and it doesn't seem like Bioware would go back on that, but as far as what kinds of DLC, I wonder!
I'm also curious as to how the quest will be implemented, from an RP standpoint. I rather think my two canon Wardens would try to hold to their promise to let Morrigan go without looking for her, unless they thought she wanted/needed them to find her. It will be interesting from that perspective, whether to put all my Wardens through this DLC or not. Some of them will most definitely go through it though, and I'm excited for it!

Well it is called Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. I would assume the DLC is on par with the original game.

Wait... wasn't that Leliana that didn't like the defiling of the ashes... or does Wynne not like it aswell...

I was thinking more along the line of, If I say we commit genocide on all the mages, we commit genocide on all the mages!!!

If you happen to have Leli and Wynne both in your party you'll have to kill them both, and Alistair will help you, and then hate you afterward. Wardens, spreading the love all over ;)

I love BioWare! They are my favourite company of all time. They made the two best game series of all time. Recent ones :) Dragon Age: Origins will be getting yet another playthrough in preparation for this, and I for one hope Gaider can deliver as much Morrigan goodness as before. I romanced Leliana, and this is still the loose end I want wrapped up. Though she did smooth me over before the battle with the Archdemon. I suppose I'll have to go answers, then revenge then!

How about his whole I can kill Oghren by making his approval so low he just attacks you thing? Has anyone experienced how that effects Awakening, with Oghren being a main companion?

Wow what an awesome job david gaider has,you have brought this all upon yourselves bioware because of your goddam fantastic games, the love for mass effect and DA brings the best and worst out of people and up till now you guys (apart from mhairi's scripted death) have got it all right...BUT..hehe

This one DLC is where you put your money where your mouth is,there is no way you can **** this one up,and the way this goes will affect how people will react to DA2,dont do a ubisoft, this story cannot be a sleight or nonchalant wave of the hand 400 bioware points dlc,it needs to be big David dont dissappoint mate.

This. A thousand times this.

Sure would be nice to play without my computer freezing and crashing, something that hasn't happened since the unpatched game. But then, BioWare has never been big on producing necessary patches *cough*Jade Empire*cough*ME2*cough*

Great stories, yes. Patches, no.

I have a question, for this new DLC that is coming on 7th. It will be a DLC that you will need to import you're character? Or start a new campaign?
