I'm far more excited for Witch Hunt than DA2.
My mate is going to buy DA2, I'm not spending 50bucks to play as Hawke, so I'm gonna borrow it off him, when he gets it.
No warden, No sale.
Meh, I'm way more excited for a full length release. A 2-3 hour DLC won't be NEARYLY as good as great 60+ Hour Full Game Release. I can't wait for Hawke, getting kind've tired with the whole Warden genre of quests to begin with. The game needed something Fresh Ala Hawke.
DA2 IS 20 - 30 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY, SHORTER THAN ORIGINS.
I've read most interviews and seen the big article in last months Game Informer on it, Havn't heard anywhere it's only 20-30 hours. =/ So unless you heard it from somewhere very unsignifgant I'm going to have to call BS. And even if you're right, 30 Hours > 3 Hour DLC.
I just read that DA2 will only be a 20-30 game. You have not read all of the interviews.

Just something else I refuse to buy. I'm tired of the bug fest and garbage patches. I want the content I paid for the 1st time around. I shouldn't have to wait for the community to fix it or do it myself.
Awakening was the final straw for me. It was so bad quality and content wise that I'm simply not buying any further "Bioware" err, I mean EA products. I can put up with a few bugs, not 30% of the content simply unplayable.
I would like to buy Witch Hunt, but I'm not.
Okay .... so if Awakening was the last straw then why are you posting? Not trying to be a ****** here just curious, we have had bunches of DLC since then, seems kinda odd that you decide to come out of the blue just to let use know you want buy it? Just an observation
I am posting because I am voicing my opinion. I can do that can't I? Or is this forum only for groupies?
I did buy a couple of the DLCs, but Awakening was a piece of trash. EA is not getting any more of my cash. I expect to be able to play what a pay for. Not have at least 30% of the content simply broken and unplayable. I enjoyed DAO but it was bug ridden. The patches were bug ridden. Awakening was not the greatest content wise, but also bordering on unplayable due to the severe bugs. Some of the other DLC also had a bunch of bugs. All I asking for is what I paid for which is playable content. No more. No less.
I can tolerate a few bugs. However, I'm not going to buy from a company - EA - that simply can't or won't put out a reasonably bug free product.
EA needs to hear that people are tired of bug ridden product. Period. If all they get are a bunch of slobbering groupies who say they can't wait for the next bug ridden cesspool, that's exactly what you will get. I for one am fed up with being ripped off. And I do feel like I was ripped off due to all the bugs. When you can't play content you paid for, you've been ripped off. When the producer won't fix their clearly broken product, you've been ripped off.
Again, I can tolerate a few bugs. I won't tolerate a clearly broken product. I won't support a company that takes my money and won't fix their broken product.
I hope Witch Hunt is bug free and folks enjoy it. However, I refuse to give EA any more of my hard earned cash. They have lost a customer. Period. Maybe they will read this, maybe they won't, but if folks don't say anything, they then will assume quality doesn't matter.
Fair enough
This.

Okay, folks, I need some advice. (Heavy spoilers for DA:O follow.)
TL;DR version: which Origins ending do you think will provide the most dramatic/interesting background for one's first (read: unspoiled) playthrough of Witch Hunt?
I have already bought my Bioware points for Witch Hunt (and Lair of the Shadowbroker, for that matter); now all I need to do is to decide which of my Warden endings I want to play through Witch Hunt the first time.
The first time through a story is always unique - it hits you with an impact unlike subsequent playthroughs. Personally, on my first playthrough, Alistair dumped my Warden after the Landsmeet (*mutters* stupid non-intuitive post-Goldanna hardening dialogue), which was a real kick in the teeth - but nothing compared to the ending, where the love clearly wasn't quite over, and he sacrificed himself even though my Warden was trying with every fibre of her being to go for Ultimate Sacrifice. The emotion was incredible. Of course, the emotion was primarily rage (compounded with an astonishing level of grief), but even so! I replayed the final parts of the game numerous times to get all four endings, and I'm much happier with some of the other endings I got, but none of them had the same emotional impact, because I knew what was going to happen and was kinda metagaming some of my decisions.
So. Witch Hunt. Which would be more powerful? For a Warden who turned down Morrigan's offer and lost her lover as a result to confront the witch? Or perhaps a Warden who wonders far too often about the child Morrigan conceived with Alistair - a child the Warden herself can never give him? Or perhaps a Warden who turned down Morrigan's offer but who was able to get Loghain to sacrifice himself while keeping Alistair alive and ruling Ferelden (with Anora)? And then there's the drunken Alistair ending, but I try not to think about that one too much...
Ultimately, I suppose it really comes down to Dark Promise vs. any other ending, though the variable of current romance (or not) with Alistair also interests me. What do other people intend to play first, and what are their reasons?
Incidentally, if there was a way to import the decisions made by a Warden who made the Ultimate Sacrifice while playing a new character, that would make my decision for me. The Ultimate Sacrifice was the ending I was going for, and in many ways it's the truest ending for my Warden. But missing out on continued relationships with Origins characters and further impacts of past decisions is not my cup of tea, gameplay-wise.
I highly doubt any of the above mentioned scenarios will even be mentioned in the Witch Hunt DLC. Oh, the Dark Ritual will be covered but only in some unimpressive and lackluster manner. I'm certain it will be as worthless as most all of the other DLC (and expansions) that have been released already. Although it will be interesting to see Morrigan again it seems Bioware has completely abandoned DA:O's outstanding storyline and is just making cheap, cash grab DLC that has nothing in common with the original outstanding storyline. I'm quite certain the Witch Hunt DLC will be as disappointing as everything else has been <_<

I don´t expect much about DR from Witch Hunt either. Not even a chance to raise the child along with Morrigan (and considering Flemeth´s motherly skill, Morrigan needs as much help as she can). So she is in Ferelden for something unrelated to the OG. Who I´d like to know if born and needs to go through childhood, who she left with.
If this is a cop out of the DR then I´m certainly stopping DA here.

I dont see why not, I noticed my Origins decisions effected Golems, dude referanced Bhalen as king in conversation. My choice. It seems that regardless which DLC you run threw or what not, your Characters individual story follows in the background some were just waiting to pop up and say hi
. Which I like a lot lol
Im pretty sure Awakening choices also got imported. The dwarf guy mentioned most Darkspawn have retreated and they did not attack....only observed. This is consistent with helping the Architect.
Anyway, regarding the DLC, probably my only concern, and everyone else's, is the ammount of play-time. Quality control should be no problem and I fully trust the writers to deliver some really epic sauce, however, I hope it is longer than 1-2 hours.
If this is truly the last piece of content for DA:O 4 hours or so of game time is more fitting. Afterall, it is no prequel, backstory or side-mission like every other DLC, but a closure and a follow up before DA 2.

I'm pretty sure this happens whether you import or not. The line has nothing to do with the Architect, the implication is supposed to be that the Darkspawn are afraid of the Harvester.bloodreaperfx wrote...

Ah, well, my mistake then. I've only tried it with one character and I thought it was relevant to Awakening. I guess it's not the case.

In my GoA playthrough a message from Seneschal Garival giving me permission to leave the Keep. It knows you played Awakening, but that may be it. I'm kind of hoping this takes place after the Warden leaves Vigil's Keep.

It is probably a set up for something in DA2. Too disconected from the story from Origins and Awakening.bloodreaperfx wrote...
Come to think about it, I only leveled up once or twice in GoA , didn't find any good stuff for my rogue and made no important choices. Even if they don't let you import a save, you probably dont lose much imo.

Yeah I know. "I'm one of the last Grey Wardens in Ferelden. I'm one of the only ones that can finish off the Darkspawn after the Archdemon is dead. I'll just go let myself die then. Sod Ferelden. ????????

So again thank you Bioware for all your hard effort on Origins and I look forward to more of the same effort for Dragon Age 2 and onward into the future.

And the funny thing is Morrigan is seen pregnant even if you make the sacrifice. It would make more sense to take the ritual and live if she gets the baby either way.
I know they stated countless times all endings are canon and there is no "true" ending. But tbh, even in Awakening, the Orleasian Warden seems just a thrown-in workarround for the people who didn't survive. GoA also takes place after the events of Origins thus making more sense if the warden somehow lives.
Then there is the Witch Hunt DLC....
Overall it seems the dark ritual way is the "prefered" ending.

I am really disappointed and angry. Why does Bioware only support the male players? Why does it make only DLCs for the female LI? Why no DLC with Alistair or Zevran? I am sure there is a big fanbase at least for Alistair.
I really love DAO and I purchased all of the DLCs though most of them were quite bad. I had the hope there will be coming some more interesting DLCs for the rest of the companions and some new adventures for my Warden, but no. DAO is ending with a DLC about Morrigan a person I never liked and surely my Warden would never go hunting her.
I don't understand why Bioware is promising 2 years of DLCs for DAO and also they promised to continue it after the release of DA2. It seems my hopes in Bioware was totally wrong. They made a great DAO, but after that? Awakening and the DLCs hadn't such a quality.
I guess the Dragon Age franchise is dying for me with this DLC because I am sure I won't like DA2 at all as I played it at the gamescom.
and only boys seemed to complain about what you wrote lol. I agree with you 100% that they seem to be tailoring it to the boys. For those saying "oh tied up loose ends blah blah blah" then Leiliana wouldnt have needed a game huh? A game which was COMPLETELY different than the story she told us lol.
You could have DLC where Alistair finds out about his momma bein that elf chic, a DLC with Zevran either a prequel or a new adventure him being hunted by the Crows, Shale kinda got her story told. and I would love a Sten DLC cuz he was the most interesting character because we knew so little about him. harrumph

Now are we going to have to have the 1.04 patch installed for this to work like with the Golem's of Amarrak? After all the 1.04 patch sucks big time. Especially in the area of the Silverite mines of Awakening. You lose all your equipment never to get it back as well as for other items you might have had on your person. I sure wish that Bio ware would have fixed this problem as I won't use the 1.04 patch because of this problem
