If anyone wants to check this and not listen to the whole 3 hour podcast, the bit on WH is in the last 10 mins.

As a note, Fernando Melo in teh dev interview in the latest DA podcast basically states that it is *your* Dog in WH (he says there's kinda returning character and that once we see the trailer it will be obvious who it is). So presumably then if you import a Warden with a dog, then it is your dog, and if you import a Warden who never had a dog then you get a new dog.

Even though I haven't really doubted it, it's good to hear it confirmed. Thanks for posting this, Eudaemonium!

Much as I'm stoked about this one, am probably gonna find myself a little disapointed if, yet again, there's no tie-in with other DA companions - specifically Leliana.
Since my warden persuaded Alistair to do the ritual for Leliana's sake more than anything else (ok, was a selfish reason too - not wanting to leave her and die and all), I feel it would be such a missed opportunity to not be able to explore how Leliana would react to the revelation that unholy magic was the sole reason she got to keep her beloved.
The same could also be true for those who romanced Zevran too, although somehow I think with Leliana's faith
it would impact her on a much deeper level.
Unless of course they leave it nice an open inpreparation for DA3 when it all comes together spectacularly?

A Bioware response on the matter would be most welcomed. If we didn't get the Morrigan Epilogue in Awakening how does it impact our relationship with her in Witch Hunt?
Well, the problem was that if you spoke with Morrigan "about last night" after the goodbyes at the gates of Denerim, the "romance active" flag got switched off causing Morrigan to go to "friendly" status but it also set the "Morrigan_still_in_love" flag, which triggers the "sorrow and regret" ending for Origins. Problem with Awakening was that it in determining if you would get the Morrigan epiologue slide, it only read Morrigan's "romance active" flag and ignored the "still_in_love" flag- so if you got the "sorrow and regret" epilogue in Origins (unless you use mods/console or the mirror trick) you couldn't completely romance Morrigan in Origins and get her epilogue in Awakening.
That said, Fernando Melo did respond to this after I PM'd him a couple times. Here is his response in this thread:Fernando Melo wrote...
Speaking with the designers for WH, amongst many other choices, it will recognize and respond to both of the romance active and still in love flags. I believe the issue with Awakening was that it only responded to one of those, so you could get into a bit of a catch-22 where you either missed a part of the Origins epilogue, or the Awakening one depending on how you ended things in Origins.
So it seems Witch Hunt should be all set in recognizing the Morrigan romance if you have either the romance active flag or the still in love flag. So hopefully we have nothing to worry about!
Well, I just looked at Morrigan's status in "Return to Ostagar", and she's still showing "Love", so I guess I'm okay.
I have to assume that as I played "Return", imported that into Awakenings, and that one into Amgarrak, her status would remain as "Love".

Right, can someone explain to me how to keep "Morrigan in love" after the ritual. Seriously I don't want to play Witch Hunt and it turns out I never romanced her. Aghh! I would be so annoyed.

I think it involves not talking to her after the deed. Leave her at the gates if necessary.

While I am happy to hear about this DLC I am extremely unhappy to hear that it is suppose to tie up your loose ends with Morrigan AND be the final adventure for your Warden. IMO this deserves an expansion size DLC not the smaller DLC that we are getting.
I expect the the Shadow Broker Mass Effect/2 DLC to be far superior since BioWare has been giving Mass Effect/2 so much attention.
I have loved DA:O even more than the Mass Effect series and it's kind of sad IMO to watch what has been turned out for as DLC for it. Then the Mass Effect slant for DA/2 and could we honestly expect anything special as a send of for DA:O? IMO BioWare appears to just want to wash it's hands of DA:O so it can focus on Shepardizing DA/2.
Whaaaat? lol DA:O has gotten a full expansion and like 7 or 8 DLC's some of which were very, very good. ME has gotten 3 DLC's total. Which Kasumi's lost memory was over in about 45 Mins, and Overlord was barley any Storyline just all shooting, then a pretty cool cutscene at the end.
Oh and for the record, I like DA a lot more than ME. Just saying.

did either of you read the post not two above where it was stated that it doesn't matter which epilogue slide you get...romance still active (awakening epilogue) or morrigan still in love with you (origins epilogue) produce the same result

It involves not talking to her in Denerim before the final battle about the "last night..." topic.
Or...if you already did that, get your hands on a Golden Mirror gift and give it to her in the camp, after the credits to restart the romance.

That said, it's a complicated relationship. In some cases there isn't any direct way to track exactly what happened, and we have to rely on proxy information to make a good guess. As such, I can't guarantee that there won't be any bugs, but efforts were made and hopefuly any issues will be minor.

A great deal of effort went into figuring out what kind of relationship the warden had with Morrigan so that Witch Hunt can react to it. It is not using the same scripting logic as Awakening, and won't have the same bugs.

Well, that's semi-reassuring. Thanks David.

Here is what I think this means... if Morrigan was in "Love" with you during the game... that will effect it...
If you slept with Morrigan before the DR... that will effect it...
If you did the DR... that will effect it...
If you did were not in "love" or "slept" or "DR", either or, that will effect it...
That's my assumption... Maybe David is saying it doesn't matter if you ended with "love" in the last save... but even if you did, there are ways to go around it... either don't talk to her in final battle or find the mirror and give it to her in the afterward the battle...

Yeah, when you first confront Morrigan she will be like, "well I was going to delve into this dark magic with all the toys that I stole because I like that kind of stuff, but sense you showed up I'll just drop everything and run off with you..." The Warden would be like, "I'll just kill myself now..." And there is our ending.

In response to your theory, I like to state I just chose "not to and say I did" in talking with Morrigan about last night. Role players have an advantage because they can just snip snip and paste their thoughts on the subject into their storyline. I was pissed off as hell when I figured this out and was very fortunate enough to contain a savefile which was pre-organized before the onslaught on Redcliffe. With this in mind, inching my way past the siege on Denerim was pretty damn hard because I wished to either 100% repeat the battles and tactics in the game or make them even better. I just chose to NOT talk to Morrigan in the game, despite my consciousness stating I did in the storyline.

That would be my approach on Morrigan, given that I save her life in Witch Hunt. Either your take on the matter or else we travel/rule with Alistair as his advisors. As a Cousland, I would also indulge in keeping tabs with my good brother Fergus! Maker bless his heart he's lost everything except for his little brother; would be a shame if I left him behind.

Great so now I gotta play Origins again, before Witch Hunt comes out...Which I won't be able to do! >
I feel your pain, brother, I redid Redcliffe and Denerim siege, as mentioned in my latest post, in order to prevent Morrigan from breaking up with me. Sure it's only merely the final chapter, but no one understands the way I play the game. Ask Kaedah if you ever find him on the forums; he will tell you how religiously he and I play the game.
