wynne got a very awesome plot healing skill. Im a bit jealous about it. So she is the best choice as dedicated healer.

The mage at the beginning are a bit overpowered, but to the end they are not so powerful. It's the contrary about 2h warrior, they are not usefull on the beginning, and start to be very good to the end. Plus they have anti stun, heavy armor, and no fears if they are berzerk :)

Actually i use a dwarf 2h berzerk as myself, allistair as dedicated tank "no damage", wynn as dedicated healer, and leliana as bard-support. Works fine, i make about 80-100+ damage by hit, which is pretty interesting.

3 mages = instant storm of the century. PC blood mage/AW in Juggurnaut armor, tanks and CC the mob inside the storm. Drag a ranged rogue along just for chest and traps.

What was you talent build for your 2Hander, I still felt pretty weak on mine even at the end with all 2 hand talents, berzerker and most of the warrior talents.  Of course I always compared my damage to Morrigens so I guess thats to be expected.

Not instant... spells involved have a casting time. Thus can be disrupted.

But in general, SoC kicks ****, true.

PC blood mage/AW in Juggurnaut armor

Juggernaut SUCKS for a mage.

It has a HUGE fatigue penalty AND doesn't offer any fatigue cutbacks (as compared to so many other cool heavy armors).

Also, its set bonuses (+3 STR, +3 CON) are basically useless for a mage.

I've got the Juggernaut on Sten, and would NEVER consider putting it on my Arcane Warrior even against Blood Dragon armor, not to mention Wade's superior heavy armor (the one with near immunity to fire and -20% fatigue).

tanks and CC the mob inside the storm. Drag a ranged rogue along just for chest and traps.

I run with 2 mages, 1 tank (2H, Sten) & 1 rogue (Leliana customised into backstabber dual-wielder assassin). At party level 9-10 I ripped through the Revenant tombs in Brecilian with only 1 or 2 characters being knocked out at most, and sometimes all stay on their feet.

Recently though, I HAVE been thinking about a 3 mage strategy. IHATEWYNNE, though, so I was thinking about maybe remaking Leliana into a mage, and taking Zevran as a rogue/assassin. I'm not sure about it, though, I like having Sten or the golem around for damage soaking and generally being badass. Plus mages are so frikin dependent on mana (or health, if they go blood mode), a tank can just soak damage and dish out dps 100% steady.

I wish there was a mage/rogue hybrid... of course, I can make one myself, but that would be severely shafting DAO's RPG system...

Let's put it this way: I just spent time on another forum being convinced by another player that the BEST way to play is one tank, three mages, and then spam AoE combos.

You'll still need the rogue for locks and traps. Plus, a dual-wielding assassin can really rip in terms of DPS. Plus, rogue's got the only decent scouting option in the game (Stealth mode rules).

I'd rather take a rogue than a tank... unless it's Shale oh I can't really decide. Gotta experiment.

I ran with Alistair, Wynne, and Morrigan. PC for that playthrough was a human rogue backstabbing/AoE death artist. Good stuff. Tank, Healer, Damage and stab-stab.
