I was just wondering what the general rule on window frames is. Is there usually a wall that has it built in or do you have to assemble it somehow?

I've build an entire area with the FTI set, and searching window only turns up a tiny flat piece of square glass, no frame or walls with a frame. Some other sets have walls with a window frame but they dont match. Do I have to assemble it by hand with 4 boards or something? I can't find any that are even the right size in the FTI set.  Any window solutions are welcome.

You can use datools for this.

Find a mmh object ( like prp_treeline for example), resize and retexture it. I've done it myself and it works fine.

The vanilla tilesets will generally have a window built into a wall section/tile, if they have one at all. Like this:

But because of the way interior areas work, there really isn't much provision for windows. Not ones with large unobstructed panes of clear glass anyway. There are some Chantry tileset ones designed for stained glass:

And it also includes some actual window frames:

For the most part though, your interiors are going to be stuck with solid walls. Unless you want to make your own level models and find a way to give a suitable appearance for whatever is on the other side of the glass.

I just wanted a window not to see through it. Those frames you put there might work, although I find it odd this set has tiny little square window glass but no frame for them.

What's datools?

Take a look at the FHE_WINS and FHE_WINL models. The color on the wood of the frames does not exactly match the FTI set, but they may serve your purpose.
