Or some cheap ending where the baby survives regardless of your murderous or parental intent, which would then cheaply explain a default in DA2...

Very possible.

I first thought that the DLC would wind up being "Side with Morrigan to stop god child gone wrong or side with god child to stop evil domineering mom."

As long as we get the opportunity to exact revenge...

I just hope that I won't have will get to kill Morrigan.

There, fixed that :D

Haha, funny (that wasn't sarcastic). Anyway, it's your prerogative. I just want to see how the relationship plays out. Killing her is sooo anti-climatic.

She'll pull a flemeth even if you kill her. And then she'll reappear in DA2! Rawr!

So, you think because the epilogue doesn't mention Morrigan, that that's a butcher?

There is an epilogue in Awakening that has the Warden chase after Morrigan if he romanced her. Unfortunately, for some odd reason her romance flags in Origins can get messed up and the game will think you never romanced her at all.

It usualy happens if you talk to her after her farewell speech at the Gates of Denerim, during the final battle.

That's the "butchering" the OP was refering to.

Yes, I'd really like to hear a response to this one.

Seconded. I'd find it incredibly annoying if I had to go kick the archdemon's arse again, while not talking to morrigan, then go through bloody Awakening again for the 3rd time in a row. I mean, jesus christ. There's enough darkspawn kills on my files to cover Russia >.>

I have multiple play-throughs with Morrigan's relationship at different stages but I am curious about something:

*Endgame spoiler*

What if your Warden didn't accept her ritual and as a result met his doom? Assuming we can retcon it like in Awakening, how would the story advance in that case?

*

Well they have been saying, over and over, that you can experience it by creating a whole new PC.

Darn...so no Duncan or Maric dlc? Oh well, this sounds interesting at least. Hopefully this dlc sends Origins off with a bang.

It would also be interesting to see what happens depending on whether or not the ritual was even done during an Origins playthrough, and its effect on the possible "god-baby".

Well since my hopes of DA2 revolving around...

(Spoiler)

The god child and Morrigan have been dashed this is the next best thing, hopefully the DLC will put a nice wrap on all the questions and theories about Morrigan and the child. To be honest I'm a Morrigan fan, her character is one of the deepest and the ending in Origins is bitter sweet if you romance her.

Part of me wants a happy ending if you Romance her, but part of me knows that BioWare are planning another tragedy.

Also if any of you thought that Dragon Age would have 2 years DLC, you were sorely mistaken. Since the game was so successful, Bioware rushed to start on DA2 (to make more money) and pushed most of the DLC under the rug.

That or EA forced them to push the release date for DA2 earlier to get more money.

The choices you made in Dragon Age: Origins will affect Witch Hunt.

So will I be reunited with my long-lost son/daughter then? Or will it just be a passing note like "Oh, and the baby's fine. How are you?"

Because if I don't get to see my child, I may just have to join Fathers for Justice :P

The 'butchered' ending for Morrigan happens if you talk to her post DR in Denerim at the end battle.

The other part is to get the DOA slide where you chase after her some more is you have to say you'll search for her at the end of DAO, **AND** you have to turn down anyone traveling with you during the final ceremony.

I replayed the end of DAO and then replayed DOA after getting a slide that had me chase after Zev.... Infuriating. Hope that clears up the 'butchering' thang. :)

All the talk on the Old God Baby really comes down to this.

The DR was a choice, in some outcomes a child was never conceived.

It's pretty much now to be expected that the OGB wont play a huge part in any DA sequel because of the fact for many players, it never was conceived. How it will be handled in the new DLC is going to be extremely tricky. Frankly I'm surprised albeit worried that it's being handled in a DLC. To continue the Warden's story who knocked up Morrigan, you have to write up that story and all the consequences of your actions, then same for the Wardens who didn't follow through with the DR and never engaged in romance with her, then the real kicker, the newly made character that is a choice should the player decide not to import a previous save.

To me that tells me that either A) This will be one hell of a DLC! (my hope) or B) This will be a very hastily done DLC that wont quite fit the bill (My fear)

All I know, is Sept 7 can't come too soon for me, and the forums are going to explode!

Does Witch Hunt take place before or after Awakenings? I'm aware Morrigan probably isn't featured in Awakenings but I'm curious whether I'd receive any in game benefits from playing this DLC first.

Hopefully between the two; Chris mentioned it was after DA:O, but didn't mention awakenings. TBH, most of the characters who romanced Morrigan wouldn't have gone to Amaranthine anyway, they'd have cleared off in search of her immediately. Incidentally, this is why I could never really get into Awakenings, it just felt frustrating that my character was suddenly blundering about there despite not even wanting to be warden commander.

I haven't finished DA:O yet and I just finished the mission where I needed to kill Flameth, I think a DLC about Morrigan would be interesting as I have read that she plays a 'major' role in the original story.

Will this take into account your decision at the end of Origins (ie. if you complied with Morrigan's demand or not) ???

If no, this is BS. I actually wanted the whole Morrigan plot to be tied up in DA2 but if you can import your game save and the DLC plays out according to the decision then I guess I'm happy.

I mean, I don't mind creating a new character and playing this just to find out what happened to Morrigan.

Well DA2 starts during DAO because it starts with Hawk from Lothering or whatever the place is called. Then after the town is destoryed he travel's to the free marchs. And then the game spans across 10 years so it might explain alittle on morg but I doubt it.

Can some developer please spill some light on the importing issue with Awakening butchering the romance flags? I want to have time to replay the end of Origins and Awakening before Witch Hunt arrives.

meh, i just luv a gud storyline. i maybe a newbie to the dragon age world but i became pro too simulteonously. even ppl that have romanced with Morrigan or did the ritual with her will grow curious with my 3rd Warden 'Raiko' i nailled her twice (don't ask; Medals) but my warden never grown curious till after awakening (then i did golems of Amgarrak(got bored of repetition)) course now with Morrigan returning to ferelden probably bak to her homewith the god baby ppl would probably get curious about Flemeth's steal body spell cuz i think she wantedthe god child not Morrigan to make herself powerful hence why she told Morrigan about the ritual... anyway that's my theory

Jesus....what's with the hostility? I just signed up a couple of days ago and have yet to register my games.

Anyways, I'm not jumping to any conclusions; that's why I opened the thread. I'm just saying...IF that is the case, I'll be disappointed. I checked the offical page for the DLC and there wasn't anything mentioned about it there.

Sadly, that's how most people are in these forums
