lol I'd rather have a new game than more DLC.  2 is in March, that's more than good enough.  :)

You're one of the lucky ones who enjoys that style of game (and no, I haven't played it, but I've played enough games with voiced protagonists and the proposed dialogue style to know how I feel about it. And we're getting really mixed messages about the combat). A lot of us aren't so fortunate, and were really pinning our hopes on the continuation of DA:O in DLC and possibly another expansion.

Thanks for letting us know Image IPB
What the heck is that date that came in Awakening then? See if its that DA movie, that would suck so hard man.

Most surely it WAS Dragon Age 2, which later was pushed 1 month to be released... The dragon-Flemeth in that flyer was unmistakable...

Hmm, so what's happening on the 1st of February 2011 (or the 2nd of January 2011 - I'm never sure if it's they're using the American dating system or the not)?

I presumed it was another DA:O expansion pack a-la Awakenings, but that's obviously not the case.

Maybe the character creator for DA2? Any other ideas?

Mass Effect 2 going to PS3 is only thing I know that will be coming from Bioware that month.

To clear a few things up.

No new content for Dragon Age: Origins INCLUDES no new content for Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. Witch Hunt is the final new content for Dragon Age: Origins.

I know this is not what a lot of you wanted to hear, but I thought it better to let you all know so you can look forward to Witch Hunt and DA2 without holding hope for more DA:O.

And much is being said of "What about the promise of 2 years of DLC?" or "You broke your promise" or similar. We made this promise while we were finishing Dragon Age: Origins and were working on Dragon Age: Origins Awakening and DLC. We did not expect DA2 to come together so well or so quickly. We could have chosen to delay DA2 and continued to put out DA:O DLC, but we know how awesome DA2is going to be. The decision was made to continue making DLC all the way to Witch Hunt and then it would end as we ramped up for DA2. When we said "2 years of DLC" we said that in good faith, but when something as excellent as Dragon Age 2 comes along, it changes plans for the better.

While I understand this upsets a few of you, you still get awesome DLC like Darkspawn Chronicles, Golems of Amgarrak, and Witch Hunt, plus loads of excellent fan made adventures through the Dragon Age toolset  and then have a brand new Dragon Age adventure to look forward to with Dragon Age 2. :)

As a fan of Dragon Age Origins, I'm thankful for Witch Hunt... Or at least I think I will be. From what I'm gathering, much effort was put into this DLC specifically in order to wrap up Dragon Age Origins and move onto Dragon Age 2. For that I'm thankful... Morrigan, as you know, is the last real mystery in the Dragon Age Origins tale... and I'm grateful for Golems of Amgarrak because it expanded on that story in the deep roads, and I'm thankful for Leliana's Song, because it was a good prequel to a pretty interesting character and many events of Origins. I'm also very thankful for the expansion Awakening, because it showed a completely new tale after the death of the archdemon, and got to add a couple very fun characters, companions and enemies... So anyone who has been involved in giving us this story, thank you. It's the best video game I've ever played.

Awesome DLC? Well ... maybe to you.

To me Darkspawn Chronicles was meh. Golems of Amgarrak is ok. Leliana's Song was fun for a run through but I probably won't play it again. Return to Ostagar was ok but too short - nostalgic though and I like nostalgia. I liked Warden's Keep though it says you get a base of operations which isn't true - you get a storage chest; the party camp still feels more like a base of operations. I truly liked Stone Prisoner - Honleath wasn't big but you got Shale who was worth it. Feast day presents and pranks was mildly amusing.

Awakenings was .. disappointing. I'll leave it at that.

I just hope Witch Hunt is better and actually gives more closure than "the warden's story isn't done and guess what they disappear ... again." -_-

The anime tie in to DA2....meh.<_<

I haven't been a fan of much of the Origins DLC as it hasn't advanced the story or characters from Origins at all. SO in that sense, no more DLC doesn't matter too much. But I just feel most of the DLC outside of maybe Warden's Keep or Leliana's Song was atotal wasted opportunity. And to see Witch Hunt actually advance the story, yet be the last Origins DLC and the last time with the Warden is a massive letdown.

I just wonder what BioWare might have had planned for Origins if they didn't feel the need to shove Hawke down our throats so soon.... *sigh*<_<

Damn. I really was holding out for a final closure expansion. I don't even mind the whole "2 years worth of dlc" slogan, but I do hope the Witch Hunt provides a satisfying ending. I personally would have liked to have one more dlc where my Warden closes out with his calling, but I guess that's out. = (

I'm fine with no more DLC (although I thoroughly enjoyed what we did get, ALL of it). With all the branching epilogues (doubled with Awakening) it becomes increasing hard to justify the Warden going to specific locations, so it had to end soon lest fans get angry over repeated alterations of their character's ending.

The real question is, does this give a satisfying conclusion to the Warden's story or do we have to wait until DA2 or longer? (No, they're not just going to leave his/her story unconcluded).

Whatever the case, the DA team are absolute heroes. Good luck with the future hit DA2!

I'm excited for the new DLC, but gutted it's the end of the road for new DA:O content. :(

Chris, please thank the rest of the DA:O team for all their great work on DA:O and the associated DLC. DA:O has been the best video game experience I've had the pleasure of so far. :) And while a couple of the DLC's didn't appeal enough to me to want to get, the rest were fun.

I'm still not sure what to think of what I've seen for DA2 but I'm trying to stay optimistic or, at least, not equiping a sackcloth shirt with a sprinkling of (sacred) ash just yet.

Chris,
Thanks for coming on and clarifying things for us.  And I agree with the other posters who indicated that for them DAO was one of the best games they've ever played.  I feel the same way.  And knowing that you guys are excited about DA2 is helping to ramp up my existing excitement to see the new story in the world of Thedas!

:wub::wub::wub::wub:

You guys have done some really great stuff with DAO.  I'm looking forward to seeing the magic continue to work in the next installment of the series.

(DA103 FTW!)

Awakenings was fun as hell (if a bit buggy, though I did not get any game killing ones). But up till now I feel the DA DLC has been ok at best and a waste of time at worst (Darkspawn Chronicles was the bad one, BTW), but Witch Hunt sounds so promising that I'm gonna buy it anyway.

DA2 better be a good game though, since our DLC is getting cut short. If it's not any good, it's your head Chris Priestly, I'M COMING FOR YOU!

You know you made a wrong move when Chtulu is coming for you.

It's a bit sad to see this game ends like that, I would have been happy with DLCs completing awakening (adding relationships and all that). I just hope Bio will release all DLC/awakening content for modders so that they can continue to improve this game.

That makes sense from several perspectives. If you had to take care of some of the choices made in the DLCs it could get quite akward if DA2 had come out.

1. Dev team had to plan for it in advance, with no chance of new stuff being added after content freeze.
2. If the player made some change after they had begun DA2, then they would have reimport and start over.

DA2 is also likely to give more bang-for-your-buck than any DLC (though I must admit that its short development time is giving me some concern - even if you began development before DA:O shipped).

plus loads of excellent fan made adventures through the Dragon Age toolset

The fan made adventures I have seen are quite good, but I haven't seen "loads". A bit hard to blame you, or anyone, for that though.

Sooner or later BioWare is going to have to pick a permanent character. I will find myself bored of switching characters and chucked into a new story everytime they make a new game.

better be patching this buggy toolset. right now it suffers a lot from the eclipse ray rendering engine and it's almost impossible to create well lit indoor levels. also all the other bugs need attention - please, be so kind to your fans <3

Its like the worst news ever, and they should be stoned, but they seem pretty definite :(
I think theres a definite possibility for a Dragon Age Origins 2, as in they could make it, not that they're likely to. I know Hawkes escapades are set in the future and history from the wardens time to then will be heard of, but that doesnt mean the warden couldnt do something thats not publicised or commonly known. It could fit in well with his/her supposed fate as stated at the end of awakening. He/she could venture into the deep roads to try and eridicate the issue once and for all etc etc
Though that theorys probably gone to pot by them still calling the new adventure a sequel lol
All we can do is mod our game to frick and keep our wardens life going like that :(
