For the purpose of module construction, it would be very handy to have a plug-in that could be run to check for common object configuration issues. Some examples:
  • Do all the non-static doors in an area have a transition target?
  • Do all the creatures in an area have a script set assigned?
  • Is there any magical armor that does not have a masterwork type?
  • Do all the creatures have skill points assigned that match their skill point total?
  • Are there any creatures that do not have the disarmable flag set?
  • Are there any placeables that have an inventory but are not set to useable?
  • Are there at least a few non-hostile creatures in the area that can be pick-pocketed?
  • Is there a usable container that has no inventory?
If these are flagged, it should let me know which objects to check. Also, it'd be nice to get a summary of the area and see if the settings properly match the difficulty level. I posted a script to do some of this here, but it would be nice to get that type of information from the toolset instead, and in more detail.

Thank you.

This would be a good thing to have indeed.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one interested in this.

Some thoughts on a possible interface:

I was thinking that it could have a tabbed pane for each object of interest. Thus a tab for containers, doors, stores, &c., plus a tab for the general area summary. Inside the tabbed pane could be a spreadsheet-style table of matching objects, with some basic information of interest, sortable columns, plus a comment at the end. The rows could be color coded whenever there is a potential issue. Selecting a row brings up the object properties in the toolset, so the object can be fixed on the fly. A menu could be used to select an area for analysis, plus perhaps a preferences dialog for choosing what you want the tool to check or not.

I have an area checker plugin but it does none of what you listed :D I'(m using it to fix sounds issues I have and plan to make it heal NPCs. It's not going to the vault because it's too specific for now but if someone wants the source to get started along these lines let me know.
