It's very unlikely we'll have a full blown gay romance interest in DA2.

Well what has been stated 100 times, who would actually romance him beside gay gamers.

Yaoi fangirls.

You just gave me an idea…
We’ll just have to spread the rumour that GuyHawke and his totally hot male LI can smear each other from head to toe with Nutella, and e voila, the yaoi fangirls will storm the BW-Headquarters and force them to include S/S content.

This plan is flawless, I tell you, flawless!:o

Do we really have to have this thread every damn day?! It was in Origins, i'm pretty sure it will be in DA2.

You know you're free to just not post in threads you don't like, right?
That is an option.

True, but i'm also free to post in threads I don't like as well. These threads pop up at least 5-7 times a week, and it's getting old. Devs should just sticky a thread for this.

Usually by the same people, it gets annoying.  I don't want Homosexuality in DA2 but I guess the best compromise is having a bi character because having an all gay character will turn away alot of casual gamers.

I was very pleased that Bioware included both opposite sex and same sex romance options in DA:O.  However, I think it's fairly obvious that they're building Hawke up as a Shepard-style 'predefined' character.  So, I predict that femHawke will be allowed to swing both ways, but manHawke will only be allowed to like women, so as to fit in with the new target audience of 'action' gamers (aka 90% immature males).

I really don't understand why 'casual gamers' are uncomfortable with a gay character.  Is it just because they're straight?  That's like saying I wouldn't be comfortable having a black character in the party because I am white.  Or that I wouldn't like to have someone who eats a lot of salmon in the party because I don't like salmon.

People need to grow up... :(

Is it always because they are straight? No. They may have religious reasons for having an aversion to it.

But if one's religion tells you not to eat pork, would you boycott a game where a character eats pork?  I think it's more to do with people's discomfort at the inclusion of homosexuals rather than some religious teaching.

And where does that discomfort come from.

There are some who would boycott a game because of pork eating. For instance Fallout 3 wasn't released in India because of the Brahmin.

Ingrained ideas of masculinity, and a perceived threat from males who don't exhibit this trait? :P  I don't know, I've never known someone who is uncomfortable around homosexuals.

True, I forgot about that.  I think that was more to do with Microsoft's over-sensitivity than a threatened boycott though.

It's societal and culture. No one is born homophobic. Religion often contributes to a society's intolerance to homosexuality.

Being uncomfortable around and disagreeing with are 2 different things.

The last thread on the subject of gay romance I posted in somehow turned to a discussion about the appearance of God just before it got locked... Anyway

I'll not repeat my arguments from that thread and instead give you my conclusion outright.

I think gay romance in DA2 is... *Looks at #8 ball* Likely!

I think that might just be because the Brahmin are India's priest cast :)

That's so silly. They could have altered the game slightly to make Brahmin so they couldn't die. But no, a few lines of code or stay out of the third largest growing gaming market on the planet. LAME!

I do not want a Fullblown gay charater in the game. But gays should have the right to romance a man that is Bi. I will not and never romance a man though even if it is a game but everyone has a right to choose

Agreed on the second part.  I wouldn't really mind if they included a gay only option as long as I could stop it from going farther with a patented Sten "No"

But they shouldn't have a "full-blown gay character" by your thinking.

Rockso just means a character that is only a gay romance option I think

When someone discusses gay characters, I tend not to assume they are only talking about companions, but that's just me.

Not entirely sure what you mean by that

Have we not been talking about companions?

I would play a black character. Nothing wrong with it. I definitely wouldn't play a gay character though. It's just not normal and sends negative message to public that it's ok to engage in that sort of behavior.
