I really don't understand why 'casual gamers' are uncomfortable with a gay character. Is it just because they're straight? That's like saying I wouldn't be comfortable having a black character in the party because I am white. Or that I wouldn't like to have someone who eats a lot of salmon in the party because I don't like salmon.
People need to grow up...
I would play a black character. Nothing wrong with it. I definitely wouldn't play a gay character though. It's just not normal and sends negative message to public that it's ok to engage in that sort of behavior.
As opposed to the wonderfully positive message sent by playing a character who kills a couple hundred people.

If you dont like, play the game like straight. It's a option.
It's good to have several options in the game.
It's not necessary to boycott the game only because there is a gay romance.
It's ridiculous.
And even more ridiculous, is to use religion as an excuse not to accept.
As I remember, religion is not in favor of video games.
Then, will you stop playing games? Remember, they do not like.

Just think of the ramifications of playing a character who kills people and is gay!!!maxernst wrote...

In DA2 installation, create 2 options: one installation with gay romance and other without.
So, you choose which you want to install.

That sounds like a sound idea.. except for the fact that wouldn't work too well on the XBOX or PS3.
It'd be much easier asking for an option in the game settings.

We'd have better luck asking for an option in the game settings.

I do not want a Fullblown gay charater in the game. But gays should have the right to romance a man that is Bi. I will not and never romance a man though even if it is a game but everyone has a right to choose
But they shouldn't have a "full-blown gay character" by your thinking.

Agreed, the labeling should solve most of the important problems (with all romances in general). If people have a problem with gay/bi people they can get over it and simply say no to the romance interest.exoproto wrote...
True that. I say just leave it there for those who want it and to those who don't want it, well, don't touch the shiny heart icon or something of the like.
Simple as that.

I think they handled it somewhat well with Zevran. You can easily say "No." and he doesn't continue to mention it from that point on. I don't think the option to spark the romance appeared again, either, so.. I wouldn't mind something similar to that (even if I romanced him on my second playthrough for the experience).Collider wrote...

I think the main problem with some people was that he immediately began flirting with you. Personally, if I were to have a same-sex romance available, I would like one where I instigate it, not the LI. That way no one gets to turn on their RAH-RAH-RAGEEEE mode and it's a tad bit more immersive.

Seriously? A totally different install? Or maybe we could just not cater to bigots. That's an option, too.
That's the question - do you cater to a minority asking for tolerance, or a minority asking for intolerance?
Personally I don't think Bioware would touch these moral issues with a bargepole. Only press reaction would prevent them from marketing their game to the biggest possible demographic. There was some reaction to the s/s content in DAO, but it was mixed, and more of a storm in a teacup than anything else.

edit: to clarify, before I'm jumped on, not including same-sex romances is not necessarily catering to bigots. It would, honestly, seem odd if it's not included after it was included in DA:O but I'm a charitable guy, if they say "we didn't have time/money to include as many romances as we hoped" then...I'll probably mostly believe them.
But separate installs? Creating a whole bunch of hoops to jump through in order to start the romance? Making the character flamboyantly stereotypical so people "know who to avoid"? That's where I call bull****.
Obviously, Bioware is never going to do the first one, that's not even a realistic option. But the second and third are depressingly realistic options, and are not okay.

BioWare (thrg. Hudson) proclaiming Shepard/Liara in ME1 wasn't "a same-sex romance" felt like a slap.
I really hope it won't be the same with DA2.

End rant.
I'm sorry gay people.
I believe one day, the world will be generally more intelligent, but it's just not quite there yet. Keep fighting.
Hopefully same sex is in if only to spite the crazies.

I repeat: CHOICE.
You don't like, you just make your character go "No" and that's all. The only thing I'd like is if the characters were bisexual rather than homosexual only. That way everyone's got a romance option or two more
