If such romance is possible, I hope normal gamers are not subjected to it like in first DA. Now I always kill Zevran because it's sickening that he makes passes at my male character when I am straight in real life.

This is ridiculous. If you WERE an attractive man in real life, and a gay man makes a pass at you, you would HATE CRIME GAY BASH him?

Women fend off advancing men all the time. As a virile straight man, is it so hard to say "I'm flattered, but no thank you." in a video game? Jesus.

I never pursued a same sex relationship in the game, only because Leliana, even if i was gay wouldn't be my sort of type, more towards Morrigan, but there should be a choice.

Even as a straight (I do go towards men more but I don't think I should be close minded)  person I want the choice. My PC might want to go down a different route!

I'm still surprised at the negativity.

I'm more the type of person who falls for a persons character rather than what belongs in the downstairs department!

LOL if a woman killed every man who ever made a pass at her I don't think there'd be any left!

No, I wouldn't, because doing so is against the law.

Why subject gamers who don't dislike that kind of thing to that kind of content? I play game for enjoyment and to get away from a real world. Having same sex character in game flirt with me, reduces my enjoyment of the game, simple as that. Why not allow normal gamers a way to disable "gay romances" in the options or only have the gay character initiate the dodgy conversation if a player blatantly persues that path? Everybody wins.

No, you win, because they've now marginalized same-sex romances and catered to your bigoted demands.

Don't answer the troll/s (err...), that's why topics about s/s romance keep being locked. :wizard:

We can demand a s/s romance and discuss about it without carring about bigoted view of the world that some people tend to have (and express), can we ?

Because the world doesn't revolve around you. By your logic, just because I'm gay, I have to right to ask for a kill switch for all straight people / romances? No.

No, you don't. You're the minority and it wouldn't make sense for Bioware to waste valuable development time on a feature, most people at best don't care about or at worst find repulsive. Personally, I wouldn't care if they included a gay romance, most people here can't read what I said earlier.

I just don't want it to intrude upon my gaming experience like it happened in DA (although not a huge extent, I admit). Once again, games should be about what is fun for the majority, not an attempt to be politically correct.

Haven't you heard about the rise in worth of the "pink dollar"? It's not like gay gamers are asking for much, what is wanted is a more realistic and tolerable romance option. I don't even care if they flirt or not, but some light flirting can help gamers identify and isolate their choices, and it wouldn't even kill any straight gamers!

Don't tell me you go insane the moment a guy tells you "hey, you're pretty good looking". And you're pretty much sending mixed signals; you say that "I wouldn't care if they included a gay romance", but you mentioned your indescrible need to murder Zevran just because he hits on you.

You clearly care enough to kill Zevran every time.

I would play a black character. Nothing wrong with it. I definitely wouldn't play a gay character though. It's just not normal and sends negative message to public that it's ok to engage in that sort of behavior.

games should be what is fun for everyone. -FIXED

Seriously? Just no. Also last I checked, bigots aren't the majority. Though you admit "you wouldn't care" and it "doesn't intrude upon your gaming experience to a huge extent", you do make it an effort to kill Zevran every time. Contradict much?

There are most likely more gamers who don't care that much about Zevran hitting on them than people who are so upset that they go on a forum and vent.

That is completely ridiculous.  You think it's ok in a game that you can let a slave trader kill lots of elves for a +1 constitution effect, but you think inclusion of someone who happens to like people with the same private parts is 'not normal'?

Why do these 'moral majority' sorts never have problems with the killing in games, but when it comes to love they all of a sudden get up in arms?

Normal gamers? Considering the amount of support for same sex romances there is in the gaming community and not just here, I would say that that is what "normal gamers" want.

Not that I think there is such a thing as "normal", we are all weird in our own special wayPosted Image

I was happy to see there were both m/m and f/f romance in DAO, I hope they keep it that way for DA2. :)

Anarya, weren't most gays and lesbians satisfied or at least pleased with what was available to them in DA:O?

I have no idea, I'm actually hetero myself. I imagine it varies from person to person. I got the impression that Origins did a good job of being inclusive compared to other video games, yes, but as a gay person you still have half the choices of a straight person in your romances. I know some gay people complained about Zevran because they saw him as being "too stereotypical". Beyond that I don't really know.

Just like the actual gay experience - there's less people to choose from. Yea, I did hear some displeasure about Zevran (but not Leliana). But that's more of disliking Zevran personally than disliking the amount of options. Besides those who didn't like Zevran (I don't hear this much from gay people actually), seems like most of the LGBT community was pleased with DA:O. However I am not gay myself, so I can't speak for them, it's just the impression I got.

This is a bit late, obv, but I'm not often on the forums.

But yeah, as a gay man, I was pleased and appreciative that a m/m option was in there, but my god do I ****ing hate Zevran. I struggled to get through the romance because at points I felt genuinely sleazy and grossed out. Theres a banter between Zevran and Wynne I found hilarious because she pretty much said exactly what I was feeling whilst in conversations with Zevran:

[*]Wynne: And there is a constant warmth, that spreads outwards from the very center of my being, infusing my body with--
[*]Zevran: Ooh...
[*]Wynne: Andraste's grace, what are you thinking about now? No, I don't want to know. I feel dirty. Do not speak to me.
Romancing modded gay Alistair on the other hand was very enjoyable, despite being frequently referred to as a woman...

Anyway, more on topic, after Mass Effect 2 and seeing the direction DA2 is going, I would be extremely surprised if there was a m/m option in DA2. I expect a f/f option though.

Why are people so disturbed by/morally object to gay options, yet for example, killing a ****load of humans or letting a demon take over a childs body in DA is totally fine?

BioWare are just trying to cater for everybody, if you don't like Zev coming onto you, do what most us of gamers do who don't want to go down that path and say no, its not hard, its not like you actually have to say no, all you have to do is push a button.... don't worry, I'm sure you won't hurt the pixelated elf's feelings much.

Because nobody will be killing people or conjuring demons in real life - while homosexuality is a real life issue, which shouldn't be brought into the game to appease someone who'd be better off visiting some gay dating site.
