yeah I guess the simple ideas are usually best 

I also want a way for a gay character to be in the party so you can talk to them and know they're gay without trying to romance them.  Like so they're less of a "secret" and can actually be significant in party conversation.   

The only way you could do that while maintaining your "only hit on Hawke if Hawke hits on him first" is to either

a) Make the character a ragingly obvious gay stereotype

or

incorporate it into the character's backstory (ie, talking about a former male lover, etc)

Frankly, option a is offensive for a whole host of reasons that are a hell of a lot more valid than "a fake man hit on my fake man" and option b is going to offend those people anyway because they are unreasonable.

While I completely agree with you on principle, I'm looking for ways to overcome theoretical financial objections that someone might throw out if they didn't want any gay characters in the game because they are afraid of losing a little money.

No, that won't happen.  I highly doubt there will be bi romances, at this point.  I'm hopeful, of course, but I don't expect it.

Well, but one thing always makes me hope: Every time a S/S romance thread pops up, be it Dragon Age related or Mass Effect related, they turn out to be the most discussed topics in no time, and Bioware is surely aware of that.
I just hope they notice that this topic is not pointless as some say it is and that the inclusion of said content would not alienate their entire fanbase.

Yes...nothing we can really do but continue to support the option. We won't know if there are gay romances are not until as early as when Bioware starts handing out copies to the media.

IIRC, Zevran's s/s romance was leaked about a week before DA:O came out. I think there was a screen shot found that confirmed it.



I know Leliana's wasn't leaked until the Friday before release, when someone was able to access the Prima strategy guide online. BW never confirmed/denied any of these pre-DA:O release, though. I highly doubt they will say anything for DA2 either.

True, but i'm also free to post in threads I don't like as well. These threads pop up at least 5-7 times a week, and it's getting old. Devs should just sticky a thread for this.

True, but i'm also free to post in threads I don't like as well. These threads pop up at least 5-7 times a week, and it's getting old. Devs should just sticky a thread for this.

I guess I just don't see the point, then. It's not going to shame the creators into not doing it, or something. Threads about it get created because the old ones get locked (usually thanks to people trolling it) and it's an important topic that's worth discussing.
