So... I've been having issues with DLC showing up as "unauthorised" even though I paid for it. Initially it was just Leliana's Song and Golems of Amgarrak, but in the process of trying to fix that, somehow literally everything started saying it was unauthorised.

Fortunately, thanks to some advice from this forum (and no thanks to the inept layabouts at Bioware), I managed to get a "fix" (or so I thought) by deleting all the DLC, re-downloading it, then repeatedly signing in and out over and over again. Eventually all the DLC showed up as authorised, hurray! And I was able to play through Darkspawn Chronicles.

So today I figure, OK, I'll play Leliana's Song today. On signing in I found everything was "unauthorised" again and went through the whole process of redownloading, signing in and out repeatedly, etc. all over again - this took time, but finally everything showed up as correctly authorised. Now I can play Leliana's Song -

- oh no wait. No I can't. Selecting "Leliana's Song" from "Other Campaigns" shows the loading screen for about one second, before returning to the main screen with the error message "Unable To Load Module".

Hmmm. That's annoying. Maybe I'll try "Golems of Amgarrak" instead. That gets past the loading screen, hurrah! Now, what character do I want to use...? Well obviously my main PC from Origins and Awakening, let me just select "Import Character From Another Module"... oh, the program has crashed and I'm back at my Windows desktop.

This is annoying.

I've briefly looked through this forum and can't immediately see anything that quite matches those problems, does anyone have any suggestions? It looks like I'll just have to put up with having to sign in and out repeatedly every time I play for the "unauthorised" bug to go away, but has anyone else been "Unable To Load Module" for Leliana's Song, or experienced a crash when importing a character into Golems of Amgarrak? Any word on fixes?

I think it's quite disgusting that Bioware are spending time creating more new DLC that we're expected to pay for, when they've not actually fixed the bugs that make the DLC I have ALREADY paid for impossible to play. At this moment in time they have stolen my money. But it's obvious they don't care; hopefully someone on this forum can help out?

Have you installed any third-party mod(s) that could cause these issues?

Concerning the authorization problem, I always follow these steps after launching game and before clicking New, Resume or Load:

1. from main menu, check that you are logged in* then select Downloadable Content
2. if you see your DLCs on a green background and Points Balance updating, skip to step 7
3. wait for Point Balance to be updated
4. close panel
5. click again Downloadable Content
6. this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again
7. wait for Points Balance to be updated
8. close panel and load your saved game, resume a previous game or start a new one.
* You must be logged with the very same account you used to purchase your DLC(s) or to redeem your promo code(s)

You only have to proceed this way on your first load after each DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directly load saved games during the same session.

If the above steps do not solve your issue, the next step is to try to launch the Dragon Age Updater service prior to launching the game. For this, exit the game if it is already running, open Windows main menu, select Run..., type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Updater service. Right-click on this service and select Start  in the contextual menu. Once the service has started, close the Services window, relaunch the game and repeat the above steps.

You may also find useful information about the Dragon Age Updater service here.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am using no third party mods at all, and consider the "authorisation" issue not a problem for now (I mean, it's a problem, and an annoying one, but it's one that I can work around).

The "unable to load module" issue and the crash are the issues I really need help with here.

If Google had given me an answer, I wouldn't need to ask the question myself. Anyone any ideas?

After buying "Golems of Amgarrak"(I received the mail, too),I can find it in the section of downloadable contents, but the download never starts!
I can't find it in "Your registered game promotions" section of this forum, where I usually can download all the DLC,for DA and ME2.
What can I do?Any advice?

FYI, these are the links to posts found on social.bioware.com from users having the same issue than yours. I have noticed that some of these posts concern solution to this issue so may be you can find something to solve yours.

Unfortunately not, I tried anything that looked relevant before posting. Hence my "if Google could help..." comment.

Currently I have to load the game, and log in and out ten times before it even recognises my DLC as "authorised". Then Leliana's Song gives a "Module cannot be loaded" error message, and Golems of Amgarrak crashes when I try to import a character.

Bioware's so-called technical support gave four answers that weren't even relevant to any of that, before finally saying "uninstall and reinstall the game and all the DLC", which is obvious guesswork designed to get rid of me, and seems likely only to waste my time and leave me right back where I started.

If Bioware cared they would fix it and issue a patch... in the absence of that, as they clearly don't give a damn, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make the content I have PAID MONEY FOR work?

Has anybody else got this problem? Any suggestions on how to work around it? Any news on when Bioware will fix it?

More info:

Bioware tech support are completely useless and have spent about a week trying to get rid of me. They've finally got as far as asking me for a dxdiag report... if the problem was with my system, I'd have not been able to play 200 hours of the main game, hmm? Anyway, about the one halfway useful tip they gave was to edit My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\AddIns.xml to change all occurrences of RequiresAuthorization="1" to RequiresAuthorization="0". This does seem to silence the "Unauthorised" problem (...usually, not always) but as I had a workaround for that already (sign in and out repeatedly) it's still not that helpful.

For some reason (perhaps as a result of this?) Golems of Amgarrak no longer crashes when I select "Import Character From Another Module". Instead, it lets me select a character for import, then exits to the main menu with the message "Unable To Load Area". It does the same if I attempt to create a new character.

The behaviour of Leliana's Song has not changed: "Module Could Not Be Loaded" error as soon as I try to start it.

Both DLCs are broken, and that's ignoring the "Unauthorised" issue for which there is a workaround. Someone, anyone else having this, and/or know how to fix it...? I suspect it's going to need a fix from Bioware but they obviously don't care about their customers at all. (I'm certainly not going to buy Witch Hunt while there's a high chance it won't work either, and I'm the world's biggest Morrigan fan, but I'm not throwing my money away. Are you listening Bioware? Obviously not...).

Anyone?

Got the same, "unable to load module". Did all the workarounds to get autorised, got through the character creation screen, then got the error above.

Frustrated. HAve to sit on my hands until Bioware pull out their fingers on this one.

They won't.

I'm now having the same problem, somewhat: I got about halfway through the Witch Hunt, then I ran into a bug, and the game crashed to desktop. When I booted up, the game said that Stone Prisoner was unauthorized, and I couldn't load my save. How do I fix this?

OK, got it working by doing what JackM suggested above. Post back if it crashes during the campaign

Interesting point of note, I just started getting the "unable to load module" error. Trying all of the above suggested did not work.

On a whim I logged OUT. I can play the module just fine if I am NOT LOGGED IN.

What the heck is up with that?

Hope this helps someone.
