I originally bought DAO for the PS3 and traded it out of frustration within a couple weeks. I liked the game but found myself lost and weak using the controllers... A couple months later--due to my love for Bioware games; I gave it a second chance on the X360.

I have searched the web, wiki, official site, prima guides, ign, gamespot, and gamefaq guides and videos; youtube, etc., trying to find a comprehensive tutorial that will teach casual gamers, and anyone wanting to enjoy the game, how to benefit by learning how to use the controller options on the console... with very little luck. Especially how to use them during combat.

The game manual sheds some light into the matter; however a hands-on tutorial or an area at some point of the game's intro where players can become familiar with the controllers basics would have been a fantastic addition.

If I am missing an area where I can get this info please enlighten my quest. Going from forum to forum trying to learn, I've come across a lot of gamer's frustration due to this issue. The more I've learned with the bits and pieces found thru the community, the more enjoyable the experience has been for me.

I hope future iterations address this point; or at least we can find the information more accessible somewhere here; in future manuals, guides or thru the publisher's site.

Thank you.

*Keep up making great games.

**I am not sure this will be the right place to add this topic. Thank you.

I found the controller scheme fairly intuitive, so it would be easier to help you if you could explain exactly where you're having trouble. =]

That being said... controller basics:

Of course, the left joystick moves your character. The right one rotates the camera. Your talents are mapped to the X, Y, and B buttons. Holding the right trigger will allow you to have another slot for each of those buttons. The left and right bumpers let you select different party members. (NB: You cannot select pets and summons in the console version because they failed us. Failed us badly.)

There will be times when you want to target something specific, you can rotate through available targets by pressing the directional buttons (D-pad). If you want to lock onto a target, click your left joystick. The target's name will highlight in red. Click it again to unlock.

Your best friend is the left trigger. Holding it allows you to open your radial menu and pause the game. (You can change this in your options so that clicking it once opens it and clicking it again closes it). While this is open you can switch targets, lock or unlock targets, select one of your party members, and issue commands.

Now, all that being said, you can go to options in the start menu and select controller. This brings up a labeled image of controller attributes and allows you to adjust the joystick sensitivities or invert controls.
