Hi!
I have a problem: I just completed destroying Saren's breeding labs and whatnot and returned to my ship. The next quest would be to find the Conduit, but now it's automagically marked as completed already. I've never been to Ilos but I'm supposed to go warn the Council about Saren's attack on Citadel.
Any solution how to fix this? Do I need to start the game over, or is there some fix?
I'm running ME on PC with the 1.02 update installed.
Cheers,
Sunracer

Have you tried to use the Galaxy Map? After Virmire, the game should automatically take you back to the Citadel.

technically speaking
you are no longer trying to find the location of the coduit anymore, since you know it's on Ilos
just keep playing & you should be fine

If i remember correctly, you havn't got to that point of the game, you need to return to the council and warn them about the attack. Which then turns to **** and later you will go to Ilos. (I didn't wanna go into too much detail as i didn't wanna be a spoiler.)

Thanks for the replies!
I guess I somehow just missed that part of the dialog where the attack was mentioned because it really felt like something relevant was skipped. The Council's reaction was so different from all previous comments that it felt like a completely new Storyline. :-) Since everything except the Salarians was nuked, I can't understand how the evidence would now be so much more concrete than before...
But I'll try it out once I get home. Thanks again!

Yes, also this - you need to do all 4 story planets to trigger Ilos. Virmire is given to you after you do two of them (IIRC) so if you rushed ahead to do that one you'd still have one left.
You need all 4 planets because:
Feros - Has the Cipher (Shialla/The Thorian)
Noveria - Has the Mu Relay location (Benezia/Rachni Queen)
Therum - Has Liara (extract Ilos from visions)
Virmire - Has the working beacon (for the full vision.)

I did all those, with Virmire last... and it doesn't now make any sense to me:
I just completed Virmire. At the end of the mission, I report to the Council what happened and they just say that they can't take any official action and that there's no proof about the Reapers. Immediately after that, when I access the galaxy map, I get a message saying that I must go to Citadel and the Council is sending a fleet against Saren's and Sovereign's attack.
I don't think I ever saw anything which suggests that Saren's going to attack Citadel. Where was that revealed? And the full vision after Virmire didn't say anything else except that the Conduit is on Ilos.

SOME MINOR PLOT SPOILERS FROM WHERE YOU ARE FOLLOW, BUT READ ON AND BE ENCOURAGED
The Council finds the idea of the Reapers too horrible/extreme to accept*. Plus in their mind the immediate danger of Saren in a "geth" dreadnaught like Sovereign with a fleet of geth behind him is a very real and potential threat to galactic peace, of which the Citadel is both the actual and symbolic center. In short, they're covering their ass.
Basically, Udina and the Council got together and came up with a politically acceptable course of action that would recognize your mission was successful - at least as far as they want to believe - and doesn't leave any nasty political fallout that calls for them sending a fleet into dangerous areas like the Traverse or Geth space. It's political convenience.
And no, they don't believe you about the Reapers because of a plot device called dramatic irony. You and your crew - specifically the two your brought to Saren's base and accessed the intact beacon and therefore got to have a chat with Sovereign - are the only ones who within the game world actually know the truth. Others, from the rest of your crew to Captain Anderson to Udina to the Council still have to choose to believe you. Your crew and Anderson do, Udina and the Council do not. Don't worry though, bad asses like Shepard and Anderson won't let that stand for long. Keep playing, personally I think the whole Citadel-Ilos-Endgame part of Mass Effect 1 is the best part of the game.

I guess I was just thrown off by the sudden and unwarranted change of mind of the Council. (Not the most subtle plot advancement I've seen... ;-) But yeah, everything is in order now that I played through the Citadel part. The Journal quest titles just seem to "spoil" the plot as they often show something that's otherwise going to be revealed in discussions of that subplot.

Has the Normandy been locked down? You need to go to flux and speek to anderson.

No matter what happens and what you say. The council will always deny everything. The Reapers could be in their face and they still would deny it's really a Reaper.
