Then again I remember reading about the Wardens being given lands, tithes, and retainers. They could be retainers of the Wardens assigned there b ythe Templar order.
Again there could of been some serious political play we are going to find out about (its mentioned the chantry is in ruins) and these templars are marching under the Wardens. Because well lets face it who better to go into combat.
Now why the wardens would be fighting them? No idea but lets remember our views on the Darkspawn and taint is skewed. Yes the Chantry likes to say it was the tevinters that caused it by going into the Makers city and it is his punishment but the dwaves, elves, and other races do not agree and lets remember the Chantry does like to spin things into their advantage. They were never found of the tevinters.

Those are Templars, not Grey Wardens. Why would Grey Wardens fight an army of apostate mages? That's like calling the plumber to come fix your computer.
And that's just Flemeth, who looks a bit different. Putting aside from the fact that she might just look different because it's a brand new game, she is a shapeshifter after all. A very powerful one. She can probably look like whatever she wants. Also, it's all but impossible that Flemeth could have been pseudo-killed before the point when she meets Hawke et al.
And aside from any of that, this post by Chris Priestly pretty much makes it clear (as clear as someone from BW can be):Chris Priestly wrote...

Priestly: Do I have to?
Gaider: *Smack* Yes. *Smakc*
Priestly: But some of them are true, we did give some of them to Gametrailers.
Gaider: *Pauses* Yes, that is true.
Priestly: I just didn't say that they were also allowed to speculate on other details.
Gaider: Why not?
Priestly:
Cuz it is fun to watch them get all confused. I mean, the video clearly
shows templars and stuff. Flemeth's new host? I mean, come on!

You get in there right now and clarify that so our fans understand that
there are some speculation in there amongst the facts. NOW!

Priestly: Owwwwww. Yes Mr Gaider Sir.
Clearer now? Or do I have to be beaten again?

Have you seen the director's cut of the Destiny trailer? This new trailer says it's a Grey Warden army fighting the mage army? This is why people are discussing this. The grey warden website also says it's a Grey Warden army. Personally, I can't tell if it's Grey Warden's or Templars or both.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. GameTrailers added those pop-ups, not BioWare. And in Priestly's post, he says there is some speculation mixed in with the facts. But even without his post I'd still think they were Templars because it doesn't make sense for them to be Wardens and they look like Templars.ElvaliaRavenHart wrote...

I think I'd have to agree, so far there has been a fair few references to Templars having a big influence on DA2 but none whatsoever on Wardens appearing. At all infact.

The Grey Wardens and Chantry have worked together in the past, back in the Chantry's early days. Because the Wardens existed in every nation, it made sense that the Chantry should follow them to spread the Chant of Light around Thedas. Obviously their relationship is a bit more strained now that the Grey Wardens take in apostates, criminals, and other persons the Chantry wants to control (like, for example, Alistair). But there was a precedent for cooperation before.
That's not to say the trailer is showing any evidence of that. I mean, those are clearly 100% pure templars fighting apostates/Morrigans. But who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the "downfall of the Chantry" is somehow linked to the Wardens in one fashion or another.
It would certainly throw a bit of a curve ball into the politics of Thedas, since both the Chantry and the Grey Wardens are "neutral" organisations, that is, neither is a nation in its own right and can operate beyond the boundaries of any one nation. Rylock makes the comment in Awakening that the Chantry is beyond the control of the Fereldan Crown. Additionally, there are plenty of examples where the Grey Wardens have gotten tangled up in politics (Sophia Dryden anyone?) when they shouldn't have. If Thedas is on the brink of a world war.. well, those two groups would certainly play a large role in it. Don't you think?

Maybe the Chantry knows there secreats?
I don't know about you but that would make for a rather interesting plot. Hell, the Wardens are kind of like the Knights Templar in a sense that they practice stuff that is mostly prohibited by the Church, in this case, the Chantry. Hey, it's always possible.

...Yeah, but he have a Rogue Beard. If he was a warrior it would be a little bit longer.
That and I like the fact that Carver is the warrior, Beth as a mage and Hawke as a rogue, it's fit.

In the trailer he's clearly an arcane warrior.

I am NOT playing another Commander Shepard inertia.
They just took everything good about origins and threw it out. You have been confirmed to play as a HUMAN named Commander Hawke (amirite?), not to mention that there are no origin stories that you start off with. You can import your character data from origins, but that is obsolete because that most likely change the story sicne you are playing as a new protagonist.
Sorry Bioware, but if this is all you have to offer I wont be buying any of your games in a LONG time.
Cheers!

On a side note, is it possible the horned Qunari are Par Vollen Qunari? Seeing as Sten mentions that he is from Seheron, and the term "Qunari" extends to those who follow the Qun. It could make sense as well seing as how bestial the horned Qunri look, they may use those from Seheron as ambassadors seeing as they appear more normal when compared with the other races.
Another thing im curious about is where people are getting their information about Duncan being Riviani. It says in his codex that his father was from Tevinter, his mother was from the Anderfels and he grew up in Orlais and the Free Marches. If i missed something somewhere about him being Riviani, could someone link me it please, i haven't found anything myself.
One last thing, has it been confirmed that the game is pretty much set entirely in Kirkwall? I know about the Blightlands, but will we go to any of the other cities in the Free Marches, i know it's still early days but i think that would be a bit of a let down if we only got one city, its surrounding area and the deep roads. Especially seeing as according to the codex Starkhaven has it's own Circle of Magi and an Archdemon was killed there.
Maybe in the story, Hawke could unite the Free Marches permenatley instead of the current system where they only help each other when it threatens them all. The creation of a new country could cause surrounding nations to feel intimidated and possibly gear up for war, especially if the newly created country was a collaboration of wealthy cities. Not the greatest idea i'll admit, but it did spring to my mind especially when i read about the political nature of the Free Marches.

Codex entry is wrong. It's stated in The Calling that his mother was Riviani. I think this one has been confirmed to be canon by David Gaider a few times now. They really should update the codex entry in the game some day

No, but what's the point of totally getting it wrong? Usually the codex entries are biased and full of the agenda of the person (NPC) who wrote them. What's the point of totally getting Duncan's parenteage wrong? And anyway, pretty sure DG has said it was a mistake before.
DOes it say she is "from" The Anderfalls or she "is anderfallian" (whatever that would be). Had to reinstall DAO after a harddrive burnt up so I cant look up the codex.
Maybe it is more of being unclear instead of wrong?
