Whenever I attempt to fight the demon to end the quest the game locks up and crashes.
Technical info:
OS: XP sevice pack 3
CPU: AMD Phenom 9650 Quad core, 2.30 GHz
RAM: 2GB
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250

I am using a phisical copy of the game, with the Blood Dragon armour and the Stne Prisoner DLCs

Any advice would be helpful.

Are you running 1.03 or 1.04 by chance? 1.03 introduced this behavior and 1.04 did not address it in any way - most notably crashes associated with graphically intense combats. Mana Clash, Holy Smite and others have been offered as the most glaring instances in which this occurs, but I've seen it happen with any "explosive" spell effect.

Does the game crash after combat has begun?

This sounds exactly like what happens when Mana Clash or Holy Smite cause the game to crash under 1.03 or 1.04. Either the scripts associated with the spells or the graphics themselves are causing DA to crash. Officially, you can submit a report/request for help at help.bioware.com, but you will get a barrage of form questions that won't likely help. More realistically, you can try reinstalling the game and updating to 1.02a. Your saves should still work with 1.02a - and if for some reason they do not, you can just reapply the 1.04 patch, but it doesn't sound like that is a viable option. There really is no reason to be running 1.03 or 1.04 for the Origins campaign. You should only run 1.03/1.04 if you are playing the expansion and even then you are likely to run into these kinds of issues.

This is the state of the game right now.

I also ran into this. Strangely when I loaded again it went fine. I have no idea why the first time I opened the door it crashed. It has only happened to me playing as a mage. On my other 3 characters I had no crashes the entire game and I choose warrior and rogue for those. Now as a mage I had two crashes.

Just encountered this issue twice in a row playing the Ultimate Edition. When I click the door the came immediately crashes.

EDIT: I figured out a possible fix for this issue. Switch to another character and have them open the door. I'm playing as a Mage and I had Leliana open the door. No crash. ;)

Started another playthrough the other day and ran into this crash issue. Was able to get past it by setting all video settings to low and turning off all sound (just incase). When you click the door, make sure you do not turn around for at least 2 seconds so the demon's visual summoning effects are gone. After that you should be able to turn around and kill him, save, then turn back on sound and gfx settings. Hope this helps anyone still having the problem.

Just a reminder, when you talk about graphics settings, you must include the settings in your video card's control panel.  I am not very familiar with modern ATI controls, but for Nvidia, it is very easy to have it override whatever in-game settings you select, apart from resolution.
