How was the Human Reaper supposed to travel?

Please, please let that no have been the purpose. Having giant Terminators running around on worlds feeding on everything.....my god, the sheer cheese would be devastating.

Exactly. Thank you.Knight Templar wrote...
Isn't this a bit like looking at a car engine and saying "how could that thing ever move around"?
I really wish we could get a sticky thread titled "ATTENTION NEWCOMERS: ANSWERS IN HERE" so that we can avoid rehashing these same threads over and over again.

I know this has been answered before but I will humor. The inside of the reaper is the race used to create it. The cuddlefish shell is how it travels around. Think of any movie with a biosuit and you have it.
Not likely. If you look at the reapers at the end of ME2, you will notice that they do indeed vary in shape- I saw one which looked like a scarab beetle for example- the cuttlefish with legs shape is not a shell but the shape of the species which formed Harbinger and Sovereign.
Unless the human-reaper grew some kind of reaper tail (in which case it would swim like a mermaid through space) I'm guessing it would travel kind of like the way Iron man flies.
LOL! No, just no.
Even though all Reapers do vary a LITTLE BIT in shape, they do not represent the form of the species they're made from. Spectreshadow is right. The human-embryo terminator-thing would only be the core of the human reaper and it would be finished with a beetle-like or cuddlefish-like shell in the end, just like all other reapers.

it had some kinda wings in the art book
No it didn't. In the art book we only see the human-reaper embryo as it is in-game, we see a different version of a possible human-reaper embryo (more organic and more embryo-like) and finally we see a finished human-reaper that indeed does look like a cuddlefish like Harbinger, Sovereign and most other reapers.

This is beginning to sound like Liberty Prime all over again.
Don't you dare insult Liberty Prime again or I'll rip you throat out you damn communist sonofa****!
Now, according to my theory the reapers move faster everytime the turian counciler dismisses claims of their existence.

well to be fair, I wasn't insulting LP. It was pretty awesome for a tongue-in-cheek game like FO3. But it would be completely retarded for a game like Mass Effect.

In my mind
A Pac Man mod, you play as the Human Reaper, eating up groups of people on worlds
Like Pac Man combined with Rampage
This is what you did to my mind, yes

Harbinger and Sovereign are themselves fairly different from one another. That said, none of them are drastically different from one another and all have basically the same "bauplan", including the multiple, forward-attached limbs and gradually tapered body.

YES, exactly.
The thing is also titled a "larva" in the game -- look at its name above it as you fight it..

A cuttlefish and a scarab beetle don't vary a bit, they vary a lot. If we compare the species in RL we notice that they are of different phylums even- one is a mollusc one is an arthropod. Plus we never saw an embryo within the derelict reaper (and we did delve fairly deeply into it). Do you have any in-game evidence/cannon to back up your claims that the reapers are all species inside shells? I didn't notice anything to suggest this when I was playing.

I think the "different" Reapers are more a matter of the viewing angle than anything else.
As for the "larva" in the derelict Reaper, well, your team might not have passed through that part of the ship, or it might have been holed out by the Weapon of Mass Acceleration, thus causing the "death" of the Reaper in question.

It's not to do with the viewing angle- you can see that some of the reapers are different shapes even when viewing them from the same angle. Harbinger for example has cuttlefish like tentacles at the front while others seem to have insectoid legs at the front. The 'shell' idea is still possible but so far there is little evidence to back it up other than a piece of concept art that was scrapped. Despite this, most of the reapers we saw seemed to have a tail. Since the human reaper lacked legs, perhaps they were preparing to give it a tail after it had grown more?
