I love loot, I love big bulky inventories, I love getting the fifteenth darkspawn dagger that isn't worth anything. I am the person that kills some poor little scout in a pen and paper dnd match and immediately asks the dm if there's any loot, and I am the person that spends ten minutes looking through spells to figure out which one to choose, that's in either a pnp or a video game.
I can understand someone wanting a streamlined game, but there are plenty of games that don't deal with inventories and leveling up, stick to those, don't hope that an already established game changes to that.

Now this I would support. Just like the Mass Effect reference Codex entry we get in the Deep Roads. Those are the only things from ME I would like to see in Dragon Age.
I don't care for a voiced protagonist but I have nothing against one. If only it could have been made for all 3 races and all 3 made playable but that means costs and time. Publisher must have pressed to cut both.
I definitely don't like ME wheel in Dragon Age. Still not enough to keep me from playing but I will "blergh" everytime it pops up because I do it in ME/ME2 as well.
Now, if I cannot unequipp just the helmet, if skills/abilitties are made the same way as ME2 or if party control and equipment is made the same way as ME2, I ain't touching that game.

I'm with you on (over)analyzing spell/talent/gear options, but not with you on loving junk loot. If I see a little loot sparkle I like to know that it's something useful (Potions, crafting components, magical equipment). Not something that's only going to cause:
"Oooo a loot sparkle. Oh... it's... another leather helm. Well... I guess I can sell that for 5 copper later... if I don't run out of inventory space.... due to more leather helms."

I like any and all goodies, lol. Some people are obsessive over side quests, I'm obsessive over loot. I WILL stand over a non sparkly dead guy for an extra few seconds just to be absolutely sure I'm not missing something. The deep roads drives me insane with the running darkspawn -.-

I think there should be a DLC that links Mass effect with Dragon Age. Maybe Shepard finds the planet where Dragon Age is happening. And the Reapers are actually the Old Gods.

No I don't care about spending half of my time travelling to different places back and forth for "fetch this" type quests (what I call filler time).
I'm definitely in favor of eliminating mmo-style fed-ex / kill x mobs quests and concentrating more effort on a more complex plot.

I'm obsessive over loot and side quests, over alchemy ingredients and weapons forging, Some elements we don't have in DA:O but still, they are fun in the games where we have them.
And I found it really cool that some sidequests would be triggered by actions somewhere far away or how I could only enter a house for the completion of a side quest if I gathered all information spread in a few different places. And how a codex entry like Cautionary Tales for the Adventurous would later translate into a real nightmare but fun sidequest, particularly for those who don't let their chars die at all in the game. Dragon Age is a masterpiece of creative writting, imho. Sidequests included. Those "gather and deliver" didn't bother me either but hey, they are OPTIONAL.
I think DA:O had in it to be the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate indeed. The very first quest of Human Noble origins is a tribute/homage to the very first quest of BG. After all, some great epic stories begin with the killing of a lousy rat!

I wouldn't mind real time melee and spell combat, auto-attack is lame.

Auto attack is necessary. If you don't want rpg elements and tactical combat taken out of the game, auto attack is important. If you are playing a Warrior, there will be times your toon gets aggro, then you switch to other characters to do their tactical abilities like arrow of slaying, or move them into position for back stabs. While all that is happening, your "main" character should be attacking.
The only way to do real time action rpg combat is to let you control a single character and have to input his command real time, while letting the ai control your party members, imho.

I didn't mind the DA fed ex quests, because 75% of them were designed to be on the way to doing stuff you were doing anyway. It was really rare that you found a quest that made you run somewhere JUST for that quest. In most cases, if that did happen, and you had to revisit an area, it was just beacuse you missed the quest eaeleir. I don't expect any game company to design a fool proof quest system that makes sure someone doesn't miss every optional side quest.
If you run into a quest you missed that makes you visit 20 load screens, don't do it.

Ugh... why did you have to bring the WAR forums here. I thought I saw the last of this stupid Orc typing when I quit that stupid game.
Anyways, I'm surprised no one's mentioned the overwhelming amount of "I want the main character voiced" "I don't want an auto attack system" "this game looks generic"
Back around DA:O release, allot of people wanted a Mass Effectity Dragon Age game, those with any sense moved on once they got bored of whining. Nothing wrong with it. I could care less if it stuck to DA:O's fomula or ME's formula, as long as I get a game worth my $$$

I'm fed up with casual morons who crap their pants when a game is too complicated for their "awesome life with a full time job and responsibilities" and treat CRPG fans as basement nerds. If inventory management or skill point allocation is too complicated for your casual brain just buy a Wii and buzz off so that BioWare can do what they do best without worrying about you: designing world class WRPG's.
Like KoTOR, and Jade Empire, and that Sonic game, and Mass Effect 1/2 and...
Ah, right, that Bioware. The one that doesn't design the sort of games you seem to drool over.
