Is there a way to bypass the Deep Roads?

This is my second go round with Dragon Age.  In my first run, I only had the Dwarven treaty left.  I played through the section with the Fat Momma, and to a place where there are wave after wave of Dark Spawn (with Bragha hanging around) when I called it quits.  The reason is that the Deeps Roads to me is gratingly boring (you might love it, but to each his own).

Yes, I later discovered that I was pretty much near the end of the Deep Roads, but it was too dull, it made me think less of the game.  Well, now I am back on a new computer (no prior saves) and enjoying the game again, i really want to get to the endgame due to that everyone says it is awesome.  But, I am beginning the Deep Roads once again and I feel the same dread coming over me.  Is there way to bypass much or all of the Deep Roads?  I am on the PC, so I can use both mods or console commands.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. :wizard:

Unsure if this would work, but grab Oghren and skip the Aeducan thaig, and head right to Ortain. See if the Southern exit will unlock by going straight to the Boss in the back area, then on to the Deep trenches w/same approach, etc. skipping all but the boss encounters.

Just be prepared to skip a lot of treasure and XP.

You can safely skip Aeducan Thaig. All that's in there is some loot and an item for a sidequest. At Caradin's Cross, you can skip most of the area by looking at a map online and figuring out the shortest path - most of the area doesn't need to be explored.

But there is no legitimate way to skip the rest.

I also know what you mean. I loved the fighting the first time around. But I just finished on my most recent playthrough and man does it take a long time with endless extremely similar battles against darkspawn. I nearly cried when Shale reminded me to go back into the Deep Roads.

There...might be a way to bypass a large portion of it. You'll still have to do some fighting, but not nearly as much. I will warn you now, though, that I have no idea if this will actually work.

The key is simple: Master Stealth. If you're not a Rogue yourself (or you are, but don't have Master Stealth), then you'll need to bring Zevran with you. If you killed him, you're ****e out of luck.

Now, when you enter Caridin's Cross, take control of the rogue. Put the rest of the party on hold, then activate Stealth. Now, make your way straight to the exit leading to Ortan Thaig. Go ahead and leave normally, and your party will be transported with you to Ortan Thaig.

When you get to Ortan Thaig, do the same thing: put your party on hold, Stealth your Rogue, then make your way forward while avoiding any fights. The tricky part is that you need to fight the Corrupted Spider Queen. Now, just before the bridge, release your party from Hold. Because they are off the edge of the mini-map, instead of having them run to you, the game will instead teleport them to your side. You can then go in and kill the few enemies here, take on the Corrupted Spider Queen, then read Branka's Journal and leave.

In the Dead Trenches, you can do the same thing: put everyone on hold, send your Rogue through, and travel under stealth. The only thing I can think of that will give you trouble is the Ancient Darkspawn in one of the tunnels; he's an Elite Boss, so he's going to have a very high Detection Rank, so he might detect you. In that case, you will have a fight on your hands.

Continue forward to the Broodmother, who you will, quite obviously, have to defeat. Do so, then head to the Anvil of the Void. You'll have to fight your way through here normally, unfortunately, but considering how much time and effort you saved on the way here, that shouldn't be too hard.

Again, I'm not entirely sure this strategy will work; it was made based entirely on my observations on Leliana's behavior on my Nightmare 'Solo' run with a Dual Wield Warrior (I did all the work and damage; Leliana stayed Stealthed and only picked locks). It's a bit of an iffy proposition, I suppose, but it's the best I can offer.

Wish there was a mod, like the Skip The Fade one... First time around in Deep Roads was OK, but in following sessions... Oh boy, not looking forward to it. Same thing all over, same long thing.

You don't need to do it all at once... take a rest then come back to it later.

Try setting some short term goals you can enjoy. For instance, when starting the Deep Trenches, my party has to get all the Yellow or greater kills; not the Legion. My Warden should get all Boss kills, and I attempt to remember to collect every gold piece and quest so returning is not required.

Personally, I like the Roads, but sometimes my vision has me trying to ascend the walls rather than moving forward thru the tunnels. Increasing the brightness in Options helped with this.

That helps a lot.  I do a couple of areas then head out for some sunshine.  Even just a couple of side quests is a nice break.

Hell, I'll even go as far as saying that the deep roads is fun in small doses. 100X better than 'Lost In Dreams'. As for what swk3000 said it should work. If your warden is a Rogue be sure to have the dark passage passive and/or Wynne in the party to cast Haste, it helps with slowness of Stealth.

I my self don't mind the booring deep road, but I don't want the dwarf companion in my companion list. Can I avoid that. I would rater skip hole Dwarf content for that.

You're not required to put Oghren in your party. You get extra dialogue if he's with you, but you can leave him behind with no problems.

The only time you are forced to have Oghren is when you face Branka at the Anvil of the void, otherwise he's optional.

The combat system is very repetitive in this game thus I dread most of the main story line as mainly all of them are 1hour fights in dungeons.

It does not have to be. I have played many times in various ways, and try and design my characters so that they can avoid auto-routines. Check out different builds and tactics, if you truly wish to add seasoning to the gameplay.

The deep roads turned me off the game completely on my second playthrough, but the 'Lost in the Fade' quest is even worse. The one thing that both of those quests have in common - in my opinion, at least - is that the world is dead, and there's nothing exciting about it. The first time around, that's fine, but afterwards you're playing the game for the dialogue and characters, and playing through the Deep Roads again - or any dead, uninteresting place *cough* *Peragus* *cough* *cough* just seems like a chore. Personally, I got about halfway through the quest, then turned around, went back to Orzammar, quit, and then opened the toolset. It's relatively easy to find out which flags you need to tick, and you can be on your way without a hitch. You might be a bit short on gear, but you can always just stick some on your character while you're in the toolset, or even just play the next level on easy, until your gear is up to scratch again.
Anyway, hope that helped. If it didn't; build a time machine, get DA2, mail it to me, and then feel really good about yourself.:bandit:

Ha - it's Denerim that wears me out. Maybe because I do all the "Interested Party" quests along with Slim Couldry and the Crows. So many missions - and so many of them leaving Denerim and coming back, then again, then again, then again.

Okey, I tryed to by pass Oghren when going to Deep Roads, but what ever I say to him, he allways join to my group. I don't mean active team, I mean group of companions. I don't want him, how I by pass him. I'm now at the Common area trying to get deep roads, but if I go too close to way there, Oghren comes and we have forced dialog. I don't have problems him to be come temp companion when near end, but I don't want him as permanent companion.

You could always tell him to leave; I believe that's an option in the dialog.

You mean after he is in team as talking to him?
In dialog what comes when I'm going to Deep Road, doesn't give that opition.

At Party Camp, you have the option to tell any companion that it would be better if they left. You have a final chance to take it back, then they leave. Since Oghren has to be in your party during the Anvil of the Void, I'd imagine that this option won't become available until after you complete that section; after that, you should be able to ask him to leave just like anyone else.

So I can bypass it with the toolset?  Sounds great, how would I go about doing that?  In addition, if I used the following console code would I break the game:
runscript zz_orz_debug - Starts the Paragon of her Kind Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

I just noticed after playing the game every night for 2 weeks, I have stopped playing it for at least 1 week after hitting the Deep Roads, nice one Bioware! :o

That is not Bioware's flaw though; tis the Player's choice. Personally, I enjoy the Deep Roads much more than wandering in the Dalish forests, but I play them both in every campaign.

It's not really our choice since we can't skip the Deep Roads without cheating.

I wouldn't mind them so much, it's just that there are some dungeon crawls in this game that are simply far too long without a stop, and definitely without a merchant in the middle.

I hate having to travel back during the Deep Roads 3 or 4 time to sell trash loot.

There is though; Ruck in the Ortain thaig, or a quick escape back to camp.

As a Dwarven merchant wannabe, I would forbid it.....

I tyed to get rid of Oghren after Deep Road in camp, but still doesn't be able. Damm that dwarf is like burdock. I know how to get rid of Dog and Morrigan, but damm Dwarfs.
