i'm experimenting, but i can't get rid of bonus talents (i added too many via 'givebonustalent') i haven't been able to find anything to remove talents.

It's probably just the easy way out, but I think assault rifle is the most effective talent; as for fun...eh...maybe singularity or push.

First of all, you can't link us to files on your hard drive.
As for Engineer bonus talent, IMO the best is Shotgun. What the Engineer lacks is survivability, so it's either Shotgun for added CC, or Barrier. Barrier on Engineer is kinda gimp though.
Soldier- Warp
Vanguard- Singularity
Infiltrator- Neural Shock
Adept- Assault Rifle
Sentinel- I was fond of Sniper Rifle, but Assault Rifle also works
ME1 has a limit on the amount of active powers you can have on your screen, and Adept and Sentinel will go over that limit if you give them an active power and put a point in all their base powers. So for those classes, it's best to take a weapon talent.

For an engineer I'd agree on shotgun or barrier. It's more a question of play style than, one being better than the other.
For the other classes:
Soldier-Lift (For me, at least I find it more effective than warp)
Vanguard-Singularity
Infiltrator-Hacking (not only is it very useful in it's own right it improves the recharge of all your other tech skills, damping has a 3 second area effect stun, where as neural shock is only 5 seconds vs a single target at master level and damping recharges faster.)
Adept-weapon talent of choice to avoid the power wheel bug
Sentinel-either a weapon talent or singularity (and skip neural shock to avoid the power wheel bug)
