Well, I can give you some context. I searched the vault for all modules from 2009 to 2010 so I could check what month they came out. And I compiled a list of mpdules per month for a comparison.
2009 Modules
January - 7 Modules
February - 5 Modules
March - 9 Modules
April - 4 Modules
May - 4 Modules
June - 2 Modules
July - 5 Modules
August - 4 Modules
September - 2 Modules
October - 9 Modules
November - 3 Modules
December - 3 Modules
2010
January - 11 Modules (4 more)
February - 0 Modules (5 less)
March - 5 Modules (4 less)
April - 11 Modules (7 more)
May - 5 Modules (1 more)
June - 3 Modules (1 more)
July - 4 Modules (1 less)
August - 6 Modules (2 more)
Of those that came out from September to December 2009 only 3 October (Live Forever, NWN2 OC Makeover SOZ Edition, Sheep and Stone), and 1 December (Sands of Solvheil III) have 10 votes and 800-2,900 downloads. So maybe you'll get away with it.
For January 2009 we got King For a Day and Chronicles of Charnia - Lanterna, February Winter Rose 2, Icewind Dale (also Three Clawed Dragon Inn, The Haunting and Romance Pack for MOTB), and March Heart of Endia. January, March and October are the worst module months.

This also tells me there are more modules so far in 2010 than there were in 2009 for the same period. Interesting.

Indeed, I looked on the Vault and recently, 5 NWN1 modules came out at once, I think.

The intent is not to limit module releases.
From following the forums and blogs I knew there were several long term builds coming out all in the same general time period. It originally started as an attempt to stagger these larger projects.

I think LeeMer47 makes a pretty solid point on the whole, but yeah, the intent is not to make sure that everything is staggered. That's just not possible. However, during the analogy of the Blockbuster releases timeframe, a lot of larger projects in movies do their best to coordinate their releases so that they don't get overwhelmed (and that they don't overwhelm the market) by each other. I think this is the basic intent of this idea and for that reason, I think it's a good one. Players (just like moviegoers) can still access earlier (and less advertised) releases even while the blockbusters are hitting the screens (both computer and movie in this case) and it's also quite likely that two or three major releases will be out at the same exact time, as they cater to different niche demographics in the player base (our core demographic.)
Think of it like, in the summer, in one week, you might see a Horror Movie, a Romance Movie, an Action Movie and a Comedy Movie all in the same week. Because they each cater to a different population segment, the results on the other releases is marginal in terms of presence or activity. That is how I see this project. A way to help promote projects and time their releases so that the players get maximum enjoyment and the authors (and their released projects) get maximal exposure at time of release without being overshadowed by another major project.
Just my thoughts on the subject for even more 'context' in the overall scheme of things.

(and just FYI, the numbers indicate that more, not less modules are being made in NWN2 than in the last year -- that's a good thing, right?)

. If people post here and want to stagger, we'll play along. If they don't, we can't.
If you dont mind refraining from derailing our thread with this crap, we can get back to planning releases.

Hi folks,
I'm really torn on this at the moment - I like the idea of planning & staggering releases, but for myself, I can't really give a very accurate release date for my current project. Having said that, I'm aiming at a release this autumn - development time permitting! It's a (fairly) faithful reproduction of Against the Cult of the Reptile God & I've just got a couple of houses in the main village & the final dungeon to complete - then bug squashing. So far its all working reasonably nicely, but who knows what will crop up?

Better put me down for October 15th now.
Im ready to go but I've got a slew of voice actors going and I cant tell when, they do seem pretty responsive so far.

Hmm, a quick update given how things are progressing at the moment (good on the area creation front, bad on the corrupted bits & general weirdness suddenly appearing front (like a poison dripping sword now appears to be blowing cute little bubbles while its wielder scowls threateningly, while other NPCs are now there in the toolset, but vanished from the mod when I test it - all very odd).
Anyhow, all things being equal, I'll be publishing this December. And if you publish that on the initial post of this thread, there's a chance I might get the impetus to make it happen :-)

Just list your module and expected (estimated, sometime around that date, it sure looks hopeful) release period and it will be listed in the OP list. And yes, it is only for the cool people. Cool being defined as: Module authors with an expected release date to unleash upon the playerbase their efforts of many long hours.

LOL, alright dno then here it goes.
Fanglewood! Has not been officially announced yet but should be ready for beta testing in late Jan-early Feb. If all goes well looking at a release of May but June or July is more realistic.

Those areas look very good Alupinu. I'm excited already!
And, DNO, Shagret is slated for June 1st. I mean to stick to that too.

I am really hoping to release the MotB Makeover SoZ Edition in January. I have a few free days in December and I hope to focus on finishing it up. There is a pre-beta release out now being tested by a select few (well, one, really), so it is at least beyond the vaporware stage

The list has been updated.
Alupinu and Chaos Wielder have been added to the "cool people" list.
Alupinu those are some good screenshots, you did a great job on the forest. I like the scaling of placeables and their incorporation into the areas.
May be time to update the name of the post, The fall is gone and 2010 only has a few weeks left. Is that something that can be done DNO?

Still not cool? It's like grade school all over again. And high school. And to be honest college. Darn!

At this point, the thread should probably get a new name. Seems like "future release schedule" or something like that is more appropriate.

I saw no mention of this one in the forums:
A Fairy Tale
I didn't notice it until today, but it's done by tsongo, author of the Hall of Famer "Serene", so it should be good.

That's because tsongo didn't mention it. I haven't seen tsongo posting on the boards for a very long time and had honestly thought we lost him to some other interests. It was posted on Feb 25th and there wasn't a peep one by him on the new forums. No worries, but you can't organize and coordinate something no-one else knows about, right?
And yes, he's an excellent author of modules.
