Here are the steps I always follow after the game launch and before clicking New, Resume or Load:
1. from main menu, check that you are logged in* then select Downloadable Content
2. if you see your DLCs on a green background and Points Balance updating, skip to step 7
3. wait for Point Balance to be updated
4. close panel
5. click again Downloadable Content
6. this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again
7. wait for Points Balance to be updated
8. close panel and load your saved game, resume a previous game or start a new one.
* You must be logged with the very same account you used to purchase your DLC(s) or to redeem your promo code(s)You only have to proceed this way on your first load after each DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directly load saved games during the same session.
If the above steps do not solve your issue, the next step is to try to launch the Dragon Age Updater service prior to launching the game. For this, exit the game if it is already running, Open Windows main menu, select Run..., type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Updater service. Right-click on this service and select Start
in the contextual menu. Once the service has started, close the Services window, relaunch the game and repeat the above steps.
