How exactly do you go about siding with the magi over the templars? I've done the part twice and haven't been able to figure it out.

That's.. interesting.
Do you consistently say that the mages will be saved and discourage the templars from hurting them? Did you save the first enchanter? Is Wynne alive?

Yea, Wynne was still alive, my first attempt I had to kill her. But after the Uldred fight there weren't any mages left and then in the Redcliffe part it didn't give me the option to go back to the circle to save Connor. It was either kill him or use the blood magic.
That's the main reason why I was asking that cause I don't want to ****** off my party at that part in my current run through. Also trying to get the trophy for my PS3.

Okay. Tell me what you do when you first enter the tower.
The head templar talks about the Anullment. What do you say?
You enter the area and meet Wynne. Do you promise to help her save the mages?
Outside the last area, you meet a trapped Templar, what do you tell him?
You take Irving down to the Templar Commander, what do you say to them?

You need to use the Litany against Uldred, the item you get from Niall after the Fade. Otherwise, Uldred will in the final fight slowly but surely turn all the mages into abominations.

Let me look over my capture files after I wake up, I can tell exactly what happened in my fight.
edit: Going over my Uldred fight I think they got killed even though I used the litany right at the start of the fight, I guess I didn't DPS him down fast enough.

You need to use the Litany every time Uldred turns to the mages, spouts some gibberish, and purplish rings appear around the poor sod he's trying to corrupt -- not at the start of the fight. It helps to have subtitles on. If you have Wynne, she will yell a warning whenever this happens, which helps too.
