I'm really looking forward to the dynamic of playing with a family member in DA2 and I'm sure others are too, to which I would ask:

Would you like to see a difference between Hawk & Bethany's relationship depending on Hawke's profession, surely they would have more common ground if Hawke were a mage, and her views on certain moral decisions might differ if Hawke were a rogue?

Do we think that Bethany is an apostate or a runaway from the Circle, or perhaps she was travelling through her families hometown in the company of Templars in time for the attack?

*SPOILER* If Hawke's brother, Carver, is killed soon into the game as well as his mother, how long do we think that Bethany will survive in the game, personally I would hope for the entirety.

NB: Lets not let this thread degenerate to childish talk of breast size or incest.

You are forced to have family, it doesn't mean you are forced to like them.

From what the developers implied you will be forced to care about them.

Actually, David Gaider said the exact opposite http://social.biowar...1/index/4567516

I'm not sure why I'd even bother posting this but:

You're not forced to love your family. That said, they are your family and we aren't providing you the option to just go "pfft, whatever, you're on your own." -- just as you couldn't decide you didn't want to be a Grey Warden and, say, run off to Antiva. We also don't let you play a psychotic sociopath or any number of other things-- including an elf, this time anyhow. Them's the breaks.

Ive always wanted a sister. Finally someone else that can take all the blame when things go bad.

Is she a big sister or a little sister?

EDIT: I highly doubt Bethany will die off. She's like a permanent Mhairi.  In Awakening, Mhairi was the designated Tank. Im betting Bethany is the designated Healer.

That's especially hilarious, because Kordaris was the one who made that thread in the first place. Even responded to that same comment. Once proven wrong, he attempted to switch tactics like a good troll.

Never mind, two others beat me to rebuking that which was so obviously trollish as to not really require a rebuke.

Hah, see, if I had paid attention to the fact that it was Kordaris I wouldn't have even tried.

I was going to type up a real response, but considering you want the option to murder your sibilings in cold blood, I think it would just be a waste.

I hope that she lasts a while, personally--but I DON'T want to see another Dawn Star. Or, for that matter, a Morrigan, though I find that significantly less likely. I'm tired of requisite female party members being Mary-Sues or b****es.

I somehow feel (offcourse it's not the case) that I'm forced to be a warrior, mostly becuase you can't create your character with the background story's, and Hawke seems to be portrayed as a warrior... (about the magic used in the trailer, ripping apart the creature, is most likely Varric imagination running wild)

I personally would like to see how the family dynamic plays out, [b]IF[b/] any of Hawke's family survive long enough for their roles to be meaningful.

And the different types of relationships depending on character class is a nice one, though it may appear to be too much dialogue to add on. Just going on that the potential variables would be male/female x fighter/rogue/mage x relevant decisions/dialogue moments in game. A lot of effort for what would mostly be flavour.

Great if it's there, if not, there are better things to be implemented.

Maybe I jinxed her by calling her a Mhairi.

By now we all know what we're getting when we show up for a Kordaris thread, don't we?

Im really looking forward to seeing how the family dynamics play out in DA2. I believe it opens up the writers to alot of great story telling in that front and some difficult choices even.

As for people feeling forced to care for them, I have 3 sisters and one brother. A couple of my sisters, I dont particularly feel close to them, so we dont talk hardly ever. In the game, if Bethany is a character I dont feel strongly for, I wont choose her to accompany me in my party first chance I get!

Its like we have an ability to choose our party members or something!

I would be thrilled to have a sister with this kind of personality.  No joke.

We've already learned that Bethany is an apostate mage.

Argh, gerrof woman!

Seriously though we have heard that Hawke is going to be referred to as Hawke by NPC's close to and familiar with him, given that they are siblings I would find it unusual that she she would call Hawke by a surname that may also be the same as hers, I wonder what she will call Hawke?, hopefully not something as cringeworthy as pupPosted Image

I could see her just calling him/her "brother" or "sister"
