it would be great to see bethany having a love-hate brother-sister relationship with hawke

can't live with each other, can't live without each other kind of thing

Argh, gerrof woman!

Seriously though we have heard that Hawke is going to be referred to as Hawke by NPC's close to and familiar with him, given that they are siblings I would find it unusual that she she would call Hawke by a surname that may also be the same as hers, I wonder what she will call Hawke?, hopefully not something as cringeworthy as pupPosted Image

maybe sparrow or another small bird as means of teasing you.

I'd like to see plenty of snappy sibling dialogue:

Bethany: Hawke look!, I just learnt how to shape shift!

*Turns into a hideous spider*

Hawke: *Grins* Well are you going to show me then or not?

It was mentioned in this article by IGN, and it was confirmed in the extended director's cut of the Destiny trailer.

Edit: Whoops, I'm not sure why I put it was confirmed in the trailer, it wasn't confirmed there. However, it's been mentioned in a couple of different articles that Bethany is an apostate and Bioware has not refuted the statements saying that she is.

I'm really looking forward to the dynamic of playing with a family member in DA2 and I'm sure others are too, to which I would ask:

Would you like to see a difference between Hawk & Bethany's relationship depending on Hawke's profession, surely they would have more common ground if Hawke were a mage, and her views on certain moral decisions might differ if Hawke were a rogue?

Do we think that Bethany is an apostate or a runaway from the Circle, or perhaps she was travelling through her families hometown in the company of Templars in time for the attack?

*SPOILER* If Hawke's brother, Carver, is killed soon into the game as well as his mother, how long do we think that Bethany will survive in the game, personally I would hope for the entirety.

Meh. Really don't care about the family dynamic, as I wasn't very impressed with how it was handled in DA:O.  It would be nice if Hawke's profession has more of an impact on most NPC interactions, and not just on the familial relationship.

I don't care to speculate on how Bethany came to be an apostate or how long she'll survive. I can only hope she isn't a "perma-companion".

Do you mean "perma-companion" in the way Alistair was (up until Landsmeet, anyway) or "perma-companion" in a "forced to be one of the four people in the active party" way?

I am more interested if we can choose who dies and who lives from our family as that would add replayability to the game.

We could play as brothers, sisters or a brother sister combination and maybe mother son combination.

I cant see myself sacrificing my mother if i had an option.

I don't know why so many people hate the idea of companions who are also your family members. Don't you ever get tired of the orphan hero thing? Besides even if Bethany is a permanent companion you don't have to use her in your party if you hate her so much.

Personally I can't see this as it has been stated you get to know your companions better by using them and that the party will still be four characters including Hawke, this would severely limit getting to know the others as you would only be able to take a max of two others each time Hawke goes out to play.

If they wouldn't even add the dog as a permanent fifth slot, I can't image they'd do it for an actual character. :P

I'm quite interested in how the sibling dynamic will work in regard to interaction with other party members.

Varric: Hey sweet stuff, you fancy coming back to my place for a little something to eat?

Hawke: Remember who you are talking to, keep that up and I'll have you stripped, shaved, painted pink and put on a leash with a little bell.

Bethany will probably simply call you "brother"...maybe sometimes she adds something like "my little brother" or in that direction.

Beth: "Yo lil Bro"
Hawke: "Sup, Sis?"
Beth: "Nothin, just chillin"
Hawk: "Cool"

I sure do hope Hawke is the older one >< If i get the "Be careful little bro/sis!" she is dead. Also i am not going to take her with me in those clothes, no no (the revealing ones).

Depends whether you want to have her distract some guards or something, while you sneak up behind them.

Alternatively she could use such distraction to her own end to look more vulnerable:

Bethany - *Points at Hawke* That Guy is trying to kill me!

Guard 1 - I'll save you ma'am! *Rushes at Hawke*

Bethany - *Blasts Guard 1 with fireball from behind* Sucker!

My bethany will be casting in whatever it is she's wearing when you remove all the clothes. Hawke may not like it, but he can just deal with it!

I like the brother/sister idea, however I do hope the dialogue between them for the games duration is more expansive than your examplePosted Image

what? thats just simply the "da hood" dialogue option...
you see, you can actually choose origins placed in different areas or wards of Lothering.
If you choose the "ghetto wards" then you gain extra dialogue options throughout the game...you can easily identify em with the symbol of a "Pimp" a common habitant of higher ranks in the Lothering Ghetto Wards.

Yes, they will hire a guy to go home with you and hold a revolver to your head. If you do not care about your family, he will pull the trigger.

This, every copy of DA2 will come with an Enforcer, to make you play the game BioWare wants you toPosted Image
