Yes, they will hire a guy to go home with you and hold a revolver to your head. If you do not care about your family, he will pull the trigger.
This, every copy of DA2 will come with an Enforcer, to make you play the game BioWare wants you to

Maybe Hawke was considered the favoured child or the other way round if Hawke is a warrior, as Bethany may have been seen as special from early childhood, whilst Hawke had to train and prove himself as a warrior.

I'm looking forward to exploring a negative relationship with Bethany, in addition to the positive one.

If Ma Hawke is anything like Ma Brosca, I'll kill her myself.

As she gets the heave ho, I'm guessing she will be a loving, beneveolent character making her death tragic, rather than some old drunken prostitute.

I take it you mean forming Bethany's character, a hardline route could make for hardening her character quite a bit.
I hope you weren't talking about their mother as I heard she died, although how you could change the outlook of a zombie matriarch would be an unforseen challenge.

I hope we can make her evil.
So do I, I'll probably go nice Hawke with my Male Warrior Hawke first playthrough, then team up as the Sisters of Destruction with a Female Mage Hawke in the subsequent playthrough.

I'm quite interested in how the sibling dynamic will work in regard to interaction with other party members.
Varric: Hey sweet stuff, you fancy coming back to my place for a little something to eat?
Hawke: Remember who you are talking to, keep that up and I'll have you stripped, shaved, painted pink and put on a leash with a little bell.
Oh man, I love this guy!
Seriously, I bet you kick everyones ass in Monopoly, huh?
To speak on the topic at hand, I'm excited to see where they go with the sibling relationship. It's just one more thing that will be cool to witness (assuming it evolves) over the timespan covered in the game.
To take the topic in an entirely different direction... While I like the idea of having a sibling in the game, I wish they had used another model for Bethany. I think she's got the most attractive face of all the women shown thus far in the Dragon Age universe (not hard considering the leading ladies of Origins, i.e. Morrigan, Lilianna, and Wynne were not attractive at all. IMHO).
Oh, and before I get tagged as a perv and tarred with feathers. Let clearify that I'm simply saying I wish they had used a different model for Bethany and used her current one for someone we will be able to pursue romantically in game.
Also, while she may be Hawke's sister, she isn't mine.
Ok I think i'm safe now.

I'd like to see plenty of snappy sibling dialogue:
Bethany: Hawke look!, I just learnt how to shape shift!
*Turns into a hideous spider*
Hawke: *Grins* Well are you going to show me then or not?

I'm really looking forward to the dynamic of playing with a family member in DA2 and I'm sure others are too, to which I would ask:
Would you like to see a difference between Hawk & Bethany's relationship depending on Hawke's profession, surely they would have more common ground if Hawke were a mage, and her views on certain moral decisions might differ if Hawke were a rogue?
Do we think that Bethany is an apostate or a runaway from the Circle, or perhaps she was travelling through her families hometown in the company of Templars in time for the attack?
*SPOILER* If Hawke's brother, Carver, is killed soon into the game as well as his mother, how long do we think that Bethany will survive in the game, personally I would hope for the entirety.
Meh. Really don't care about the family dynamic, as I wasn't very impressed with how it was handled in DA:O. It would be nice if Hawke's profession has more of an impact on most NPC interactions, and not just on the familial relationship.
I don't care to speculate on how Bethany came to be an apostate or how long she'll survive. I can only hope she isn't a "perma-companion".
I have to agree, I never felt much for my family in DA:O because their time in the spotlight was so short. I think that was the problem. Hopefully in DA2 it will be a bigger element as you adventure.
And yes, I would like for my Hawke pc to feel protective of Bethany and others in their immediate family.

The Human Noble family were a tad twee for my tastes, I was rather glad to see the end of some dolt that referred to me simply as pup, especially when I couldn't refer to him as patronizing old buffoon.
I enjoyed the Dwarf Commoner origin and felt the level of connection in the Dwarf Noble origin to be spot on, both the elf origins were also good.
I'd rather like Bethany's attitude and the writing of her character to be of sufficient quality to challenge my own ideas on how I am progressing with Hawke, as well as changing her character and attitude myself.
