Clerics as better tanks than Fighers? Really? Help me understand this.

But in fact yes, I've seen some Cleric builds with this kind of damage output. I've even seen some silly dual spear Stormlord build. Might have even had Weapon Master in the mix, don't remember exactly now. Anyway was hitting for 60-80 damage per attack and somewhere near 150 on a crit (and critted very often).

Now *that* is something I would like to see! Sound's awesome.  I guess there was monkey grip involved?

In a high magic environment, the items replace many of his buffs so he has room for more Heals, Greater Restorations, and Mass Heals, Resurection, etc.

excuse me but... since clerics have the possibility to convert whatever spell in a same-lave heal spell... why they should memorize healing spells? o_O it's completely useless. I never memorize not a single healing spell, I don't need them! So you can still have dozens of spells in your memory and, just in case, convert them for being healed.

It's completely useless until you play a module that makes it useful.  Plus, Heal obviously cures alot more than any cure spell.  It doesn't take the same slot as prayer, divine favor, etc.

Uh, you can't convert into any of those spells nicethugbert listed.  And they all do a lot more than just restoring Hit Points.

You should look into them.

That said, even a Cleric who builds him/herself as a battle tank can still become a healer if/when needed, thanks to spontaneous casting.

Sure, I was trying to express the concept The Fred has better explained.

Point is, I can create a battle cleric, but if I need a help with hit points, I can simply choose spontaneous casting. This mean that cleric is still a valuable help in curing companions even if s/he's completely focused on war.

Well Monkey Grip is necessary to dual-wield large weapons.

I guess the build I had in mind was Holy Dragon Dervish.
It's respectable, though myself I would do a few things differently. PWTF seems like overkill, I would probably settle for GTWF and boost the Str a bit.

So I went and did a silly build like that myself: Silly Dual-Stick.
Not that I would want to play it, with that Caster Level, dependancy on Wis item for spellcasting, AC, ECL  and xp penalty :)

But that does make Heal completely useless.  In fact, it's at least three times stronger then the strongest cure and it doesn't compete with the majority of your buffs.  In a module where heal is really useful, you can get them as 5th level spells using Healing Domain.
